Hi My friend Yellow monkey[edit]

Hi My friend Yellow monkey, pleased to meet you. Thank you for reverting the vandalism on the Jat people page.

The Jat people page has been under heavy anon vandal attack. The Sikh article (I also worked on the Sikh article last year) was under similar anon heavy vandal attack last year but a administrator semi protected the page indefinitely and us editors were able to create a very nice article. Please can you semi-protect the Jat people indefinitely so we can do similar job of producing a very good article without these constant vandal attacks.

Many anon users have been vandalising the article including the following user who keep on vandalised the article by adding uncited info. Here are the separate occasions:

He has been warned and blocked on many occasions but still continues, blocking him has no affect. He just changes ip:

The only long-term solution is a similar one to the one done by an admin on the Sikh article Semi-protect indefinitely this allow users to build a nice article without it being destroyed by anon vandals. Once the vandal disruption is gone someone can ask for un-protection. Please can you help us out here. Thanks.--Peter johnson4 (talk) 07:15, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I ended up semi-protecting the article for 1 month. It's gone as long as 3 months in the past, and twice over the last year, so we might want to look at indef-protection in some form. As I noted to Peter, I'm hesitant to do that if other options exist, but this is one I stumbled into - I don't see the angles yet. Hey[edit]

Hey Bln! I think my account finally works. Thanks for referring me to WP:VPT.

Now, I'm almost sure, but would like to confirm. 99.229.145.116 (talk · contribs), Srkhan2 (talk · contribs), Salman khan65 (talk · contribs) - the same person?

And finally, Pepe962 (talk · contribs). He keeps adding unsourced films on Bollywood films and plagiarism claiming he's seen the films and therefore no sources needed (huh?). I've warned him twice and tried to explain him that every new entry must be sourced. He says: "I am putting entries for films I have watched myself... There is no way to prove beyond doubt. No one has the right to delete another's entries. If you do so we will revise revert back your changes."

I have undone this edit that you reverted on Hedley Howarth. Hedley never captained NZ but his brother Geoff did, for 30 Tests. Therefore the edit by Cahowarth (talk · contribs) (a relation?) was correct. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 07:42, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Key bios[edit]

Sorry about the comments which I've restored. I am working my way through these and intending to update the comments as it is some time since your review. I think a single table is preferable to put the names in order, although I've been a little lazy and sorted them by first name only. Please feel free to add more names as I've basically considered only those in the importance=high category. ---BlackJack | talk page 05:58, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello dear friend!

Srkhan2 (talk · contribs) is back at his track. He's moved the Salman Khan article to Sallu, as well as the Saif Ali Khan, the Soha Ali Khan, the Sharmila Tagore articles to ridiculous names... This will now create silly redirects upon reversal which will have to be deleted again.

He had done that many times in the past, he had been blocked several times (once by you as I see). As you have confirmed, both 99.229.145.116 (talk · contribs) and Salman khan65 (talk · contribs) are his sock puppets. I think it's about time to block the accounts, when it's obvious that all he does is vandalism.

Concordia[edit]

Howdy. This is weird; generally I find myself supporting you or following up to support our joint POV. However, this time I really think you've got it wrong. Are you acquainted with the school? If not, please take my word for it - the student leadership is highly relevant. If so, please explain to me why you feel it is unencyclopaediac. Looking forward to receiving your response. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 13:55, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why prefects and SRC etc are relevant. Why is it different from other schools. YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model) 07:26, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"I'm not sure why prefects and SRC etc are relevant." - Yes, I could see that. (First answer is that they are neither Prefects nor SRC. But I don't imagine that helps you much.)
"Why is it different from other schools." - There are many answers to that.
I see you're not prepared to take my word for it.
Oh well.
Please tell me why it's unencyclopaediac so I can give you an answer that addresses your concerns.
Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:51, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I like to see both sides of the discussion in the one place, so please respond here.

Well it was just a general rule of thumb that student leaders aren't notable, I guess less notable than actual teachers. I don't know that much about this so I'm not going to sit here arguing vigourously or anything. YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model!) 08:15, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

done, finally, YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model) 04:09, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The manual of style seems pretty clear: "Put a space on each side of an ellipsis, except at the very start or end of a quotation." This is followed by examples. If you think the manual is wrong, or just doesn't follow usage, that's another thing.

Personally, I would myself have left out the spaces, but I can see a plausible argument - to avoid long non-breaking blocks. In any case, I won't lose any sleep over it.

And, by the way, thanks for your work on Waterfall Gully. It's appreciated. Pingku (talk) 06:40, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FACs[edit]

YM, that's four FACs at once ... and the first still hasn't gotten support. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 05:50, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did you mean Faith Leech? It has one.... I know 4 at a time is a lot, but I've been able to deal with in the past quite easily. Unfortunately because of the type of topic, with nobody caring about Vietnamese history and swimming, these ones have always attracted about one comment per week, whereas the cricket ones have usually got 3-4 per week. I know about the karma theory of FAC and all that, but I was the most prolific GAC reviewer in a few months, and usually, a large majority of my articles have gotten onto the WP:GAN/R topic because of the fact that nobody is interested in VN or swimming. Whereas I think TonyTheTiger has 100+ GAs and has probably had maybe 150+ GANs in total and only a handful of reviews because more people out there are interested in American stuff...I do believe I'm within the proviso of not-nominating without prior supports and having dealt with objections, because there aren't any. I should be right apart from any copyediting concerns though. YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model) 06:17, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ashes[edit]

I'm fighting an uphill battle against a number of editors at that article. They all seem to think that I have some sort of hidden agenda. I don't. That article is horribly written and is desperately in need of a rewrite. The comments on the talk page are evidence enough of the determination of the editors involved to give it a pro-Khalistani slant. Kalarimaster[edit]

Hi there, Kalarimaster (talk · contribs), who you had blocked earlier this month for 10 days, has been busy on the India page. He has set up yet another poll on a stock topic that gets everyone's goat. Anyway, I noticed that the only other vote cast in this poll is by a Indiastarforce (talk · contribs). Not one and the same, are they? Fowler&fowler«Talk» 17:56, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. I am glad we dont have to deal with Kalarimaster for a while. But, in all its fairness, his presumed sock, Indiastarforce seems to have voted for a proposal Kalarimaster would never himself have voted for. Indianstarforce voted for Hindi alone as a language of the union and on the other hand, Kalarimaster was very explicit in his hatred for Hindi. It would have been hard for me to decide if they were really both socks in light of their totally opposite behaviour. Docku: What up? 23:36, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, well Kalarimaster has shown signs of extreme sarcasm in his anti-Hindi rants like saying everything not Hindi-related should be deleted on India (too lazy to find diff but its somewhere on Talk:India). Maybe Indianstarforce is just his alter/sarcastic ego? GizzaDiscuss © 02:56, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He probably deserves a block. But dont tell me that he was blocked for incivility when he was actually blocked for sock allegations. I know wikipedia can not be fair always, i just thought i would bring it up to the attention of the involved administrator in case there was a misunderstanding and there apparently is a misunderstanding. I hope Kalarimaster will use this break for some soul searching. Docku: What up? 03:48, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed - Direct hit on an IP with only the usual lot there. Not a shared IP. I wonder why some of the seniors don't block people themselves. Anyway, I guess it was just a sock used to cause a riot or a POINT vote. YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model) 05:09, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(unindent) Thanks for checking! A big weight off the India page. I think he might have cast his fake "opposite" vote to get the ball rolling in the poll (since no one was voting). Sort of like throwing a few 10 dollar bills in the church collection basket before you pass it around ... The faithful begin to feel guilty about giving only a dollar. racism against Biharis[edit]

User:Manoj nav and User:Notashamed dont seem to have any grasp on any wikipedia policies. They appear to be driven by rage and fail to see reason. I explained to them how what they are adding is synthesis. They just dont get it. May be a higher level intervention will help. Thanks. Docku: What up? 14:00, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear that's really bad. If someone says that India can't play hockey well anymore, that doesn't make it racist. Also, the Kokar fellow on the Rahul Raj AfD is a sock.
