GTB edit

Hello Yintan,

I added BT (musician), a pseudonym. You said it wasn't constructive however two links above there is Grand Theft Bus, a Canadian indie rock band This link is exactly the same kind of reference. If my link is not constructive neither is that reference. I'd argue that link should be removed or your reversion reverted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.170.228.16 (talk) 22:29, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi. "BT" does not belong in a list that's about the three-letter acronym GTB. I would think that's rather obvious. Grand Theft Bus does.  Yinta 12:28, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
Hello. BT performed under the name GTB early in his career which is in fact quite relevant to the page in question. Hence why I added it in the first place. It is often hard to find an artist if you find a song published under such pseudonyms, which is why I believe it to be a constructive addition to wikipedia. 207.170.228.16 (talk)
Hi. He is known as BT, performs as BT, and his Wikipedia article is called BT. Listing him under GTB really doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially since there isn't a GTB (musician) article or redirect. Maybe creating one would be useful? Or maybe list him as "GTB - Pseudonym of BT (musician)". That makes more sense in my humble opinion. But I must say that a search for GTB doesn't turn up anything (apart from WP mirrors) so the alias appears to be quite obscure. Cheers,  Yinta 00:15, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Jennifer Behm

The additions made were based on my being a close friend of Jennifer's but no worries, I will remove my account on this site and ask friends to not use it as well!! Goodbye! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Outlawktty (talkcontribs) 10:51, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Details of someone's personal life should be sourced, that's all. More info about that at WP:RS. Being "a close friend" is not enough. No need to remove your account (by the way, that's impossible), just check out the guidelines or look at WP:HELP. If you need a hand with something, let me know. Cheers,  Yinta 11:00, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Not Spamming

If you take the time to look at the site reference you would realize that I am not spamming. The site has a huge Q and A section that answers questions that people have about teacup pigs. It appears you are moderating with a personal bias and taking away from people that want to be properly informed... — Preceding unsigned comment added by The1andonlytravis (talkcontribs) 12:15, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

If you take the time to actually READ the suggested WP guidelines, you would realize that a site that describes itself as "We are the bargain website for Pampered Piglets. (...) we are able to offer some of the piglets that are a little order for a discount" is, without ANY doubt, an unwanted, commercial external link.  Yinta 12:20, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

UK

Do I reply here or at my page? You don't need 'England UK'. You have a rule that says that you only need England. I will not change the article again so we do not keep swapping it. Narrow Feint (talk) 22:01, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Reply anywhere you like . Thanks for the explanation, I was wondering about it.  Yinta 22:47, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
I like that talkback template you used. Good idea. Narrow Feint (talk) 07:55, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Yep, comes in handy. By the way, where is that England rule? I've been looking for it, also to see what it says about similar situations, but I can't find it. Cheers,  Yinta 09:18, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Edit

What's the difference between these two tabs, Yintan? Edit source/Edit? --68.229.239.155 (talk) 23:39, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Edit source is the standard text/source editor, Edit beta is the new Visual Editor.  Yinta 08:48, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

This concerns the design of the Olympic Stadium (Berlin)...I saw you had several recent edits there and wanted to connect w/ another contributor who was recently active, to bring this to their attention. On page 80 of the 1970 edition of Inside the Third Reich, Albert Speer writes that:

The German Olympic Committee was thrown into a quandary when [so-and-so] showed Hitler the first plans for the rebuilding of the Olympic Stadium. Otto March...had designed a concrete structure with glass partition walls...Hitler went to inspect the site and came back in a state of anger and agitation...he would never set foot inside a modern glass box like that.

Speer continues:

Overnight I made a sketch showing how the steel skeleton already built could be clad in natural stone and have more massive cornices added. The glass partitions were eliminated, and Hitler was content...Professor March agreed to the changes, and the Olympic Games were held in Berlin after all...

I didn't see any mention of Speer's contribution to the Berlin Olympic Stadium in the article - have I missed something? I'm not a specialist on buildings, just interested in Speer, re-reading his memoirs and thought he claimed a role for himself in the redesign that was implemented. Has it not been added to the article for a particular reason? Thanks. Azx2 17:58, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello Azx2. Short answer: I have no idea. Why are you asking me this? I reverted vandalism on that article about six weeks ago[1] but apart from that I have nothing to do with it. You might want to put your question on the article's Talk page. Cheers, Yinta 22:10, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Why are you asking me this? As I said, I wanted to connect w/ some contributors who'd been recently active on the article and identified your name as appearing multiple times in the edit history. I didn't review the substance of the edits though, so I wasn't aware that your role was limited to reverting vandalism. I actually placed my query on the talk page before contacting you, and can assure you I wouldn't have wasted your time if I'd realized who you were. My apologies... Lesson learned. Azx2 23:50, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
No need to apologize, you're not wasting my time, I was just surprised. Sorry if my initial reply sounded a bit arrogant. Good luck with the article, happy editing. Yinta 11:17, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Reverted external link on Fela Kuti article

Hi Yintan,

I am writing in response to you reverting my edit as I believe it is a valuable link to include in an encyclopaedia.

I found this article which was written on the 16th anniversary of Fela's death and is an interesting and informative piece, combining a discussion of Fela's impact and legacy with a contemporary look at how his influence has impacted on producers today. It is a different look at Fela's music, and one that is as important as ever, as his influence is becoming greater and greater in the western world. It is a useful external link because it adds to the information that is included in the wikipedia entry. Isn't that part of the point of external links? To add to what's already been discussed?

It is not a personal website, but something which was brought to my attention and I thought it would be interesting for readers of the Wikipedia entry on Fela.

Regards

Hello Aaron. As explained on your Talkpage, the link you added doesn't follow the guidelines for external links. You've been adding links to articles published on stampthewax.com (articles which you appear to have written yourself) to a number of WP articles. If an article on stampthewax contains usefull, verifiable information, just add that info to the WP article in question (keeping the copyright rules in mind, of course). By the way, please sign your posts, here's how. Cheers, Yinta 11:39, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Disruption at "Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat"

I noticed that you were once reverting the edits of the IP User 75.48.121.147 in the Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat article. The user is messing around with the article by treating it like a fan page, adding false speculated information, bloating text in summaries and adding week days to the airdate, which is not a standard format. Talking to him has proven fruitless. Please make sure this user is taken care of soon. Thank you. Deltasim (talk) 20:46, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I've reverted the IP's edits and left him/her a warning (you can do the same, by the way: see WP:TWINKLE). I'll keep an eye on the page. Cheers, Yinta 21:59, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
(Update) Well, that didn't help much, he/she just continued. IP has now been blocked for 3 days, after reporting him/her at WP:ANI. Yinta 05:42, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

I have no idea if that's how to link to the article in question. I changed an un-cited phrase which was definitive in saying that the song referred to Satan, to one which was more even handed in saying that it could just as easily refer to god (as the title of the song references). Why does this need to be cited? I made something which was definitive and uncited to something which was even handed and un-cited - surely that's an improvement?

58.96.110.98 (talk) 11:32, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi. The thing is, it's all speculation. Therefore I like your new solution a lot: removal. Cheers, Yinta 05:38, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Will do

I thought I had it to hand but finding it again is harder that I thought. Everyone at the featured article discussions seems to agree though. Narrow Feint (talk) 10:12, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks. As I said, I'd like to read it and can't find it either. Yinta 13:16, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Well to Hell vandal : apologies

Well...I'm sorry. I know it was low grade even for vandalism. You see, I'd felt the urge but wasn't creative enough to write a good parody. Sorry again. 117.233.70.134 (talk) 13:03, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Dieting

Hi Yintan,

I would definitely like you to add back in the section within the Dieting article which covers the social aspects of dieting, as it helps many people understand the social context of dieting, as the article ignores this aspect. There is a considerable social and religious aspect to dieting, especially in the West. Therefore please can you add back the section that I added. I should add that I am a Senior Marketing Exec in a global dieting company. Much of the article is based on the books Fat Chance by Jane Ogden, Honey Money: Why Attractiveness Is The Key To Success by Catherine Hakima, Beauty Pays: Why Attractive People Are More Successful by Daniel S. Hamermesh, and a book by Religious Sociologist and Art Historian Athena Leoussi called Nationalism and Classicism.

Please could you also add in that body shape and concepts of women's desireability have changed in ancient times a body shape typified by the venus of willendorf was considered desireable, in many parts of the world it still is, but in 1900s to 1930 a desirable body shape for women in the West was slim and featureless with dresses and underwear that hide or reduced a woman's curves, so she appeared featureless, by the 1940s and 1950s a body shape typified by the film star Marilyn Monroe was considered desireable but from the 1960s to present a shape typified by film stars Audrey Hepburn and Angelina Jolie became seen as in the media as being desireable in the West. Germaine Greer in her book the Female Eunuch also goes on to discuss this, as does Catherine Hakim, and Jane Ogden notes that as the need for child-rearing has reduced due to improvements in health and nutrition so women's bodies have become more a fashion item.

Only about 18% of those people on a diet are doing it for medical reasons many of these will go on to to have surgery such as a gastric band, but a great many are doing it to appear more desireable to an actual or a potential partner or to improve their self-belief, and that is what dieting, or more precisely diet industry marketing taps into.

Dieting is a very big topic.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lammas78 (talkcontribs) 13:51, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello Lammas. As editors who reverted your edits before me already explained to you, your additions[2] were unsourced. They were also biased and bordering on original research. Your statements (like for example "Dieting is a term invented (by advertisers in Madison Square Gardens, USA, in the 1950s and 1960s) for starvation") ignore so many WP guidelines I don't know where to start. I suggest you start reading WP:HELP, to get an idea what Wikipedia expects from its editors. Kind regards, Yinta 14:03, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

WP article on 'Andy Irvine (musician)'.

Hi Yintan, :-)

I hope you are keeping well? I'd like to ask you for advice, please. The 'Talk' page of the subject article has some 'boxed tags' which give it a series of ratings. Please would you kindly point me to the WP article which explains how these ratings are set, and by whom? Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Reason for asking: although I have not yet completed the task, I'd like to think that, in a few weeks' time, it will look a great deal better than when I started contributing on 22 July; at some point in the future, therefore, I'd like to submit the article (if that's what one does) to whatever process WP requires in order to have its then current appearance and content reviewed and, if appropriate, its status increased to a higher ranking.

Very many thanks for your continued patience with me (I am never sure if I use the right WP terminology), and for your helpful assistance. With kind regards; :-) Patrick. Pdebee (talk) 16:47, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Patrick. Good to see you're still around ;-) These ratings are set by the Projects mentioned in the templates. So, for example, if you click on the WikiProject Irish music link in the last one, you'll end up on their project page. You can contact any of the contributors listed there for more info, help, etcetera. Maybe you'd like to join their Project, given your knowledge of Irish music. Cheers, Yinta 16:56, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi Yintan,
That's most helpful; very many thanks, Yintan! Now I know what to do and will follow your helpful advice. Until next time, please keep well. :-))
With kind regards; Patrick. Pdebee (talk) 17:56, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi again, Yintan;
I have now joined the WikiProject Irish Music and also discovered the joys of updating my User page and how to select Wiki 'Userboxes'. It's great fun and a good distraction from the main task of overhauling Andy Irvine's WP article.
I felt proud to be able to add the barn star you kindly awarded me, but I remain most grateful to you for guiding my first steps as a Wikipedian toddler so helpfully and patiently; very many thanks once again, Yintan.
With kind regards for now; Patrick. Pdebee (talk) 12:41, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello Patrick. Glad to see you're finding your way on the wiki. Enjoy yourself and happy editing! Yinta 13:19, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Edit to Functional Testing

In my change, I removed the incorrect statement - Functional testing is a TYPE of testing, while system testing is a level of testing. The quote from the book is also not accurate. My edit was based on ISTQB wordl widely accepted testing definiton.

And mainly, Functional testing is by no means Quality Assurance but Quality Control. The author of this page quoted two papers instead of recognized books.

Hi. I reverted your edit because it removed a clear and sourced explanation and replaced it with a confusing, unsourced one. By the way, please sign your posts. Cheers, Yinta 10:32, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Well, it was just plain wrong and the quote was not even correct. But I do not really care, everyone interested in the subject will check Google Books to see how wrong this whole page is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.213.10.2 (talk) 10:48, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Dhaka

Dhaka has 14-15 million people. Original reference are not valid, you can visit them. Little Google will tell you the real stat http://www.thefinancialexpress-bd.com/index.php?ref=MjBfMDJfMjZfMTNfMV85Ml8xNjEyOTE= Ref to List_of_cities_proper_by_population

In that case, add the new ref to your edit. Changing the number while keeping the old ref in place is very confusing, obviously. Also, please sign your posts. Thanks, Yinta 10:35, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Disruption at "Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat" #2

The persistent vandal has once more been at it again in Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat and has doubled the number of speculations. Let us hope no page protection will be needed over one constant user's actions. Deltasim (talk) 17:48, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

About Sarah & Duck

Yintan, I noticed you left a message on my talk page saying that I had no source to prove that Sarah & Duck would be added to PBS Kids Sprout's schedule. My TV's channel guide said that Sarah & Duck would be on Sprout starting Monday, August 19. I have Verizon FiOS. That's a source. How would I cite that? --67.85.242.74 (talk) 13:28, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi. You can read all about citing sources at WP:REF, but I'm not sure if a TV Guide is considered a proper source. Cheers, Yinta 13:31, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Yintan - just to let you know it was me who added the external link on the above-mentioned [[1]]. I'm not exactly sure if it breaks any of the guidelines you mention. Hi Yintan

Sorry for the distrubance. My edit of template is actually completed, but it doesn't sync with other catergories using this. I dont think i can create templates and see whether it work on other pages in the sandbox. But I managed to fix the error, but I need to apply the changes.

Cuban rock: link on the major Cuban rock portal

Hi,

You removed a link I added on the major Cuban rock portal with the comment "violates external links policy".

Can you explain me how a link to the major Cuban rock portal, into the Cuban rock article can violate the external links policy.--DominiquePeople (talk) 17:35, 19 August 2013 (UTC) Also, if you read the Spanish page on that subject, the same link is into the external link section.--DominiquePeople (talk) 17:43, 19 August 2013 (UTC) And you also removed the link on http://www.indyrock.es/cuba.htm which have a lot of informations about the history of Cuban rock and its present. This link is also on the Spanish version of this article.--DominiquePeople (talk) 18:13, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi. If you follow the links in the message I left you, you'll see why I removed the link to 'Cuba Metal'. The fact that this link is listed on the Spanish Wikipedia doesn't make a difference. Kind regards, Yintan  21:41, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
I read them, but it make no difference. For me, a link to the major Cuban rock portal fully qualify on this article.
"This page in a nutshell: External links in an article can be helpful to the reader, but they should be kept minimal, meritable, and directly relevant to the article." What, in the article on the Cuban rock, can be more relevant than a link on the main Cuban rock portal? I see your attitude like vandalism if you cannot explain it for good.--DominiquePeople (talk) 11:57, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Also, this link point to the "official page of the article's subject."--DominiquePeople (talk) 12:05, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
You forgot to quote the most important bit, that section of "links to be avoided". Seen WP:FANSITE? "Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a featured article." Cuban Metal is nothing but a collection of links, ads, and You Tube videos. It may be a valid link according to you but the WP guidelines see it differently. Besides, who, apart from you, says it is "the main Cuban rock portal"? And being the official page for a music genre? There's no such thing. If the site is that important/notable as a website, it should have an article of its own. You can call my actions vandalism for as long as you like, but trust me, they're not. Yintan  12:10, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
And you forget to quote "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject,[4] one should generally avoid providing external links to:..." If you know a better page on that, but it doesn't exist. I receive the Cuban TV at home trough satellite, and I can assure you they show the groups on that website, and they talk about that website, it is how I find it. So, it is fully relevant.--DominiquePeople (talk) 12:23, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
For your suggestion to make an article of its own, I would do that if my English was better.--DominiquePeople (talk) 12:27, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
'Better' is not the same as 'official'. How can there be an official site for a music genre? I didn't quote that line because it concerns people, companies, etcetera, not music genres. A music genre can not have an official website. Who is the official representative of Cuban rock? Or blues? Or jazz? No offence, but I think you misunderstand that bit of the guidelines. Writing an article about the portal itself is a waste of time, I think. I don't believe it passes WP:WEBSITE. Yintan  12:35, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Maybe because in Cuba they believe in community based solutions, and instead of making a website for each group, they made a website for the rock and metal Cuban scene. Such websites are not uncommon in the music area. You can find such sites for the swiss rock, for the swedish rock, and so on. And sure, they are not only providing free content but also making advertising.
Another solution is to incorporate some content of this website into the article and to make a reference with a link to this portal. According to the note linked with the text of my last quote, it is permitted.--DominiquePeople (talk) 12:52, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes, that's permitted, providing the portal is a reliable source. Which it doesn't appear to be. Yintan  14:17, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Manning

Hey,

I wanted to open up a direct discussion on some of your statements re: Manning. Do I understand you correctly to say that people don't deserve to receive the pronoun of their choice until gender reassignment surgery? That stance is concerning to me - for one thing, there are various iterations of surgery and you'd have to define a "sufficient" level of surgery to chance pronouns. Going off of the well-sourced preference of the subject is better for WP:BLP, provides a clear stance, and aligns with current policy. What are you skeptical about? Do you think that this isn't a legitimate request? Could anyone make a statement like that you would immediately accept? --\/\/slack (talk) 14:06, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello Wslack. I think there's a difference between the facts of a situation and "everyday life". If Manning wants to become a woman called Chelsea, he can go right ahead as far as I'm concerned, but that doesn't make it so just yet. If people call him "Chelsea" in daily life, fine, but I think that until his name is legally changed, an encyclopedia should list him/her as Bradley. It's not a matter of what people deserve, it's a matter of sources and facts. I'm aware that some editors are trying to dismiss my arguments as transphobic, but believe me, that doesn't make any sense at all. I'm not. I think that as long as official records say Manning is a male called Bradley, Wikipedia should say that too. His request to be Chelsea is as legitimate as it can be, and I hope people around Manning respect it, but it shouldn't influence a sourced encyclopedic article. If I'm not mistaken Manning wanted to be called Brianna (or something very similar) a few months ago. Did we rename/move then? No. Manning's wish should be mentioned, certainly, and a Chelsea -> Bradley redirect makes perfect sense to me, but I simply find renaming/moving the article to Chelsea Manning premature. That's all, really. Yintan  14:19, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
A few thoughts. First, Wikipedia does not restrict article titles to legal names - many rappers and artists are referred to by their known/public names, so I'm not sure why Manning has to get a legal name change when others have that choice. Given that she's no longer going by Bradley (as opposed to Questlove, who answers to "Ahmir"), I would think that the comparison would yield a stronger reason to use Chelsea. How do you reconcile your standard for legal names with the examples I cited? Second, you discuss sourcing - but these articles from today have headlines that need to refer to the subject in a recognizable way as people discover the news. Wikipedia is for people looking for information on Manning, and the article can be found with a search for "Bradley" or "Chelsea." That's why I'm not as persuaded by arguments about what reliable sources said today. Thanks for your thoughts, though, and I'm sorry people are calling you transphobic. Unfortunately, your comments may have the effect of transphobia even if you don't intend it. \/\/slack (talk) 04:34, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Artists names are a very different story, WP:COMMONNAME, and I don't think that's a fair comparison. Ofcourse we're listing David Evans as 'The Edge'. Now Manning is a lot of things, but not an artist. I think WP is making an ass of itself by running ahead of the news agencies in the Chelsea naming. That's got nothing to do with transgender discussions but everything with trying to be an encyclopedia. As far as "the effects of transphobia" are concerned, the ease with which the transphobic label has been attached to a number of editors is worrying. And now terms like 'bigoted' and even 'gross sexual harassment' have been used by the Chelsea supporters to taint the others. It's ridiculous. Anyway, sorry, but I'm not interested in discussing the matter any further, it'll just become a rehash of the article's Talk page. I've made my point, a few times already, and I don't want to repeat myself again. Thanks for your reply, though. Kind regards, Yintan  05:54, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Golden Dawn

Hey Yintan. I recently saw your message about my edit on Golden Dawn page. The edit was from 'political position:far right' to 'political position:Third Position'. Third Position is a form of nationalism which describes itself as beyond left or right, and adopts certain traits of both positions. Golden Dawn describes their political position as Third Position. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.49.206.34 (talk) 11:22, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Yassou. The point is, several sources describe Golden Dawn as 'right wing extremists', even 'neo-nazis', and all these claims are sourced in the article's lead. Golden Dawn's own description of their views is not an independent third party source, and that's what Wikipedia requires. That's why I reverted. Kind regards, Yintan  13:19, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

I was in the middle of editing the McMurry University page and trying to get it up to par when you and Drmies started erasing all my work. re Hassan Rouhani article

Hi

Regarding the changes in Hassan Rouhani's article, I have explained several times the reason for removing the bit you referred to earlier.

The claim that the son of an incumbent president has committed suicide because of his policies, is a very sensitive and delicate issue and therefore needs credible sourcing.

Particularly, considering the current political tensions between Israel and Iran and the fact that this news has been only published by Ynet (a conservative Israeli newspaper), it is very important to make sure the claim is rooted in reality and not propaganda.

The source provided in article, refer to another source itself, which is inaccessible. The secondary (original) source contains an unconfirmed letter published by an exiled Iranian opposition activist. The legitimacy of this news is denied by the Iranian government.

The nature of the claim as well as the little publicity it has generated, makes it a very dubious claim.

It is very important that such a delicate issue to be backed up by credible evidence, such as the confirmation that the letter is legitimate or at least sourcing to the original article where the letter is published.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lastsolfa (talkcontribs) 22:41, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

The news has not only been published by Ynet. Sources in the article are Ynet, The New York Post[5], United Press[6], and The Tower[7]. I agree with you that such a story should be properly sourced and in my opinion it most definitely is. Simply removing that section of the article is not a good idea (and, as an aside, keep in mind you're edit warring which is not a good idea either). I strongly suggest to discuss the matter on the article's Talk page before deleting the section again. Cheers, Yintan  22:52, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
All the mentioned sources refer to a single article (in al-Sharq al-Awsat by Ali Reza Nourizadeh) which is inaccessible. The legitimacy of the claim is questionable. Sourcing to several outlets (which all eventually lead to one questionable article) doesn't make such an odd claim any more credible, unless the matter is put in context, both in terms of the nature of the claim, its source and the current political affairs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lastsolfa (talkcontribs) 23:05, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
You are repeating yourself. It's really better to start that discussion on the Talk page with editors who have worked on the article. You could explain there why you think the al-Sharq al-Awsa newspaper is a questionable source, for example. I've got nothing else to add, really. Yintan  23:13, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
Yintan, if you read French and German sites (I speak German) that reported about the suicide and/or the letter, please add them to the article.--The Ningeihher (talk) 00:08, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Here's a French one[8], but adding it to the article is a bit weird. This is the English Wikipedia. I'll (try to) explain it to Lastsolfa. Cheers, Yintan  00:27, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
This is not a news outlet, this is a blog which is linking to Ynet article which is already sourced in the Wikipedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lastsolfa (talkcontribs) 00:34, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Doesn't matter, it's not used as a source in the article, I'm merely showing it as the first example of the news not being limited to US and Israeli sites. But anyway, that's irrelevant. My reversions don't have to be sourced. Your new stuff has to be sourced. Again, discuss it on the article's Talk first and stop edit warring. By the way, please start signing your posts. Thanks, Yintan  00:43, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

August 2013

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring and violation of the three-revert rule at Hassan Rouhani. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:23, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

I would think the vandalism I reverted was undisputable, and I tried to discuss the changes. Here, on the article's Talk page, and on the Talk pages of the two editors. I asked for page protection, too. And now I get blocked? And they don't? Interesting. Yintan  14:38, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

You had violated the three-revert rule over the course of an edit war with two other editors, and in fact were already up to five reverts. Had you been reverting blatant vandalism, yes, that is exempt from 3RR, but "vandalism" is not defined as "an edit I really strongly disagree with". In the future, please utilize the talk page or dispute resolution if that fails, not the undo button. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:42, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
So basically you're saying that my restoration of deleted, sourced content is blatant vandalism, while their constant deletion of it (without a proper rationale and also breaking 3RR in the process), isn't? You lost me here. FYI, I don't give a toss about Rouhani or his family, I came across the constant deletions while on RCP. Yintan  15:04, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Sorry to see that you've been blocked. I'm willing to unblock early if you agree to avoid the page for what would have been the duration of the block. Mark Arsten (talk) 15:58, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
  • I'd be happy to agree to that. Yintan, would that be acceptable to you? To answer your earlier question, no, your changes weren't vandalism either, but they were edit warring. Neither side was vandalizing. The fact that you were reverting two other editors, and were well over 3RR, was why the block resulted. If that still doesn't clarify it, please let me know and I can explain further. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:10, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your replies. I'll be happy to avoid that page like the plague for the rest of my time at WP. Like I said, I don't care about Rouhani's image, unlike the other editors, so I have no problem with that at all.
