Hello Cloretta. Facts in Wikipedia have to be verifiable. Wikipedia does not publish original research. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of its editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. More about this at WP:VERIFY. Regards,  Yinta 13:07, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Time

Hello Yintan. In the article on time, time is referred to as a dimension. If not discussing a geometric or numerical dimension, and rather some 'dimension' of nature, it is you that needs to cite evidence of this dimension, not I. Until you have scientific proof that time is indeed a 'dimension' (outside of any geometrical or numerical process) using experiment, and have references to back up this position, it needs to be specified in what way time is a dimension. You may need to understand what a 'dimension' is and what it refers to, particularly what it means in the context of mathematics, physics and geometry. Therefore I am going to undo your change until such evidence and citations can be provided, because your version is misleading. Yanickborg (talk) 12:05, 14 June 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yanickborg (talkcontribs) 10:40, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Ummm... it is not "my" version. You're the one who added unsourced claims to the article. If you change something you're supposed to be able to source it. Please check out WP:SOURCE for more info on the subject. Aside, I fail to see why you added the category Time to my Talkpage[1]. Cheers,  Yinta 10:45, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
The geometrical and numerical nature of time is well sourced in all of the references that are already cited. You may need to read those sources. Yanickborg (talk) 12:10, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
In that case, why didn't you add them to the text in the first place? Or mention them in the edit summary? Would have saved us both some work. Cheers,  Yinta 12:13, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Cheers Yintan. I am going to scan that page for more errors. Yanickborg (talk) 12:18, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
You might want to discuss that on the article's Talk page first.  Yinta 23:10, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Patty

I recently made some changes to a page which you did not accept. I would just like to say that the information i altered was 100% correct. I live in Kingston upon Hull and have been in the patty business for many years and when i read the page i felt it needed correcting as some of the information was wrong, and will remain wrong if the page is not altered. Hi Yintan!

Hello there, You just undo one edit on the page International University of Struga based on copyright from the official website. I am an official representative of the university and we are making changes to the wikipedia site since it had very little information about the University. Please tell me what do i need to do for the changes to be allowed. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iustruga (talkcontribs) 10:14, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

In short: you have to rewrite it (see WP:COPYVIO and WP:COPYPASTE), unless the University is willing to donate the text to Wikipedia (see WP:DCP). Cheers,  Yinta 10:19, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Essential link

Hi there Yintan,

New to Wikipedia edits (my 1st one) - and I was advised by a colleague here that where Suma had a hyperlink on the worker co-op page - we didn't - so I added one.. Didn't realize the etiquette of the pages - presumably we have to put up a whole page, dedicated to Essential (as correctly stated, the 2nd largest worker co-op in the UK) - as Suma have done, to enable this to work.. Am I correct in this thinking?

All the best,

Phil. (I work for EssentialTrading - as inferred!) 81.137.25.205 (talk) 12:43, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello Phil.
In short; yes. Wikipedia's policy for external links is here: WP:EL. In general, links to the official sites of co-ops, companies, bands, corporations, etc, are only added to an article about that particular co-op, company, etc, but not to articles that describe its field of work. (Otherwise the car article would accumulate links to every car manufacturer in the world ). Cheers,  Yinta 12:49, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Computer Vision Syndrome

Hi Yintin,

I have just created an account to clarify a recent edit that you deleted. The recent edit I made was within the following page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_vision_syndrome#External_links

You replied stating that the infographic was inappropriate. Are you able to provide additional details and recommendations when adding external links. So what are the guidelines, for example.

I apologise if this is not the appropriate location to contact you. If you require additional details regarding the topic in questions please let me know.

Skokie

Hi. My mother is a longtime skokie resident, and she is the one who pointed out that in her understanding, Skokie comes from the native american word for swamp. She wanted to get it changed on wikipedia and didn't know how. I made the edit, which was removed for lack of citation. I found the following information with citations, but I do not have time or familiarity to put it into wikipedia citation form. Thanks for your assistance

- - - in Skokie History FAQs

http://skokienet.org/community/cats/history/rjwname.html

By Richard J. Witry

"The name 'Skokey Marsh' appears on General William F. Hull' s map of 1812.

Most of these marshes were drained in the 1930's and low ground filled in to form the present Skokie Lagoons Forest Preserve.

Some writers have associated this name with the Mascouten or Maskouten Indians, whose name has sometimes been translated 'people of fire'.

Others have taken it directly from 'sloutay' or 'scoti' and variant Algonquian words for fire. The reference is to the fact that the marshy grasslands, such as occurred in the Skokie region, were burned over by the Indians in order to flush out the game.

Several persons declare that 'Skokie' is the Indian word for marsh. Allowing for corruption, this seems correct. Until about thirty years ago, (ca. 1933 - ed.note) the Skokie marsh area was shown on maps as 'Chewab Skokie'. This is probably a derivation from 'kitchi-wap chkiku,' the Potawatomi term for a great marsh.

This explanation, though lacking documentation, is more credible because it is consistent with the former physiography of the area.

108.35.90.54 (talk) 17:18, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Even your own source says the explanation is "lacking documentation" and that's exactly the problem. Without a verifiable source it's not much more than a guess. More info on the subject at WP:SOURCE. Cheers,  Yinta 21:04, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Bob Tur

Bob Tur was interviewed by Harvey Levin on TMZ and TMZ.com, and also his old radio station, KNX 1070 AM in Los Angeles. He announced he is undergoing hormone replacement therapy, and transgender transforming into a woman to be named Zoe Tur. I have known bob personally for over 40 years. I'm not being unconstructive, it's simply a major change to his lifestory. it's all over his facebook page, www.facebook.com/robert.tur. 2100 digital error unconstructive?

Dricherby deleted the explanation about possible century year errors on the leap year bug article because they thought this would not be right since this is in 87 years time, this is why I posted this explanation on the 2100s (decade) page.109.151.60.152 (talk) 11:56, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Your explanation is an unsourced assumption, not a verifiable fact. That's why I reverted your edit[4]. Cheers,  Yinta 12:11, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
I deleted the claim at Leap year bug because it is completely unverifiable speculation. The overwhelming majority of software that will be in use in 2100 hasn't even been written yet. All information on Wikipedia must be verifiable: this is a core Wikipedia policy. Things that are not verifiable do not belong on any page. Dricherby (talk) 12:38, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

You undid a revert I did to get rid of vandalism, and warned me about it

Pretty much what the subject says. You reverted a revert of mine I did to remove vandalism (unsourced and very inappropriate information), and you even gave me a warning about it. Did you make a mistake here? Your revert restored the vandalism, which I undid. Just curious to see what this is about. Thanks. Lugia2453 (talk) 21:34, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Aubert de Villaine

I wrongly thought that the Article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubert_de_Villaine used an INCORRECT spelling for Aubert de Villaine. But you are right, this is spelled with 2 Ls (I should have known, I had lunch with the guy last Saturday!)

I want to give the albums more details on the generes! Why are you Just leaving It at rock pop and folk? The album Is way more than that, If you ever listened to It! So please stop changing It! This Is a website to find Information and I am giving more detail Information on the genre! As a Beatles expert,I I'm not giving wrong Info or stealing, I I'm typing It myself! But whatever, at least I know the right Info on The Beatles! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donaldrocks (talkcontribs) 11:36, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

I would assume you are typing your edits yourself, yes. As explained a few times already, you have to add sources because that's how Wikipedia works. Click on WP:SOURCE. Also, your changes removed sourced genres and replaced them with your own unsourced views. That's not the way it works here. Some of your genre changes are also plain wrong (for example, Norwegian Wood is nowhere near 'psychedelic rock'). Again, please read WP:SOURCE for more information.  Yinta 11:44, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Ok Mr. Smart ass, you say Norwegian Wood and Nowhere Man Is wrong, then why the hell Is The Doors first album labeled acid rock? I would say The Doors first album and Rubber Soul about the same when It comes to drug use! I label Nowhere Man Psychedelic because the lyrics Itself and Norwegian Wood because of the sitar combined with pop and the lyrics too! The Doors first album psychedelic Is. No way heavier than Rubber Soul so why Is It label acid rock and Rubber Soul not even Psychedelic Rock? The Doors first album Is pretty much Rock with little Psychedelic from the keyboards and nowhere near Acid rock! So you sir are Just plain wrong about about that! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donaldrocks (talkcontribs) 15:16, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Let's see... Four different editors have already explained the problem to you on your Talk page. And I've explained it three times on this page as well. Do you mind if I'm not going to do it again? It's becoming really boring. And, again, could you finally start signing your posts? Thanks.  Yinta 21:55, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

XOXO (Album)

Hello, I have been notified that my edits appear to constitute to vandalism but there is a line there which is just made up of lies. "The album reached 300,000+ preorders on it's first day and sold over 120,000 copies in 5 days beating the record of TVXQ's Mirotic which was held for 5 years.." This line can very well cause wars between these two fandoms who already have bad blood between each other. This also does not justifies TVXQ and Cassiopeia so I guess this can be considered as vandalism too right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.13.186.170 (talk) 13:41, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

You were warned because you wrote irrelevant fancruft like "Finally, Exotics could finally shut their mouths up and stop whining. They have been trolling on other kpop vids and even SMTown"  in the article. Discussions should take place on the article's Talkpage[6], not in the article itself. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a Facebook fangroup. The claims about sales should have been sourced (see WP:SOURCE) and they weren't, so I removed them for now.  Yinta 13:50, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

re: Zoran Janković

Hello Yintan. Thanks for letting me know of your intervention. I am sorry if I made a mistake although I have intervened with best intentions. I am totally uninformed about the editing principles and mechanisms on Wikipedia but I love the project and wish to humbly cotribute to it whet I find it appropriate. While I did add a remark within brackets about Janković's early career, I also explained why I did in the Edit Summary and added two links to the web pages of Slovene Post and Post bank of Slovenia. Maybe I should have given the link to English part of Pošta Slovenije web page (http://www.posta.si/description/1130/Who-are-we). However, its part on history is extremely condensed. I was also convinced that the article on Zoran Janković must have been edited by Slovenes who could understand what I was referring to. I just noticed another discrepancy between Slovene (including the reference no.5 at finance.si) and English version about the Janković's second job at Grič Zagreb - 1979 vs. 1978 which I am going to correct. 89.142.190.74 (talk) 11:44, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Fiume

Original name in english language was always Fiume, even under Austro-Hungarian Empire, just now is called Rijeka in Croatia. --95.83.253.149 (talk) 11:48, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Of course it is. It's a village in Croatia, that's why WP uses that name. You'll also find there's already a redirect from Fiume to Rijeka, so that's covered as well. Please do not change all mentions of Rijeka in the Rijeka article to Fiume, it's unnecessary. Thanks,  Yinta 11:54, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
As I told you, the name used in english for centuries was Fiume, as it is also the name in hungarian. The name "Rijeka" is just a recent translation of its native name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.83.253.149 (talk) 11:59, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Yes, but that's not the point. The city is now called Rijeka and so that's what it's called in its article, and Fiume redirects to it. What's the problem? In Slovenian it's Reka, in German it's Sankt Veit am Flaum or Pflaum.  Yinta 12:07, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Problem is the propaganda against its native people, who where expelled and killed by the assassin communist regime of yugoslavia, allied with Soviet Union. Calling it Rijeka is an insult for the people that were forced to leave this city. In english it was for centuries called Fiume. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.83.253.149 (talk) 12:16, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Nevertheless I strongly suggest you stop changing the city's name. Thanks.  Yinta 12:20, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

I feel disrespected

I feel disrespected and unfairly criticized when you write "Please refrain from making nonconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Coffee with this edit." and I believe my edit was not nonconstructive.

Further I feel unfairly treated when you say "Please refrain from making nonconstructive edits to Wikipedia" and I believe your revert was unconstructive and my edit constructive - there are numbers without units, it's not clear to me what the units are (percent? milligrams? dimensionless quantity?) so the table is useless for me. And I guess it will not be clear to other people too. I couldn't supply the units because I don't know what they are. So in an effort to improve Wikipedia I made a remark and hoped they will be filled in (which I would consider constructive). Instead, the edit was reverted which I consider unconstructive. 77.58.143.13 (talk) 22:36, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Your edits aren't constructive whatsoever there; therefore, Yintan's reverts and warnings were appropriate. - Amaury (talk) 22:47, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
I feel disrespected and unfairly criticized when you say "Your edits aren't constructive whatsoever". I, and not only me but people in general (See the research of J. J. Gibb from U.S. Navy and the Gibb Categories), feel disrespected when things are presented as a fact that they could have a different opinion on. For the same reason I feel disrespected when you say "Yintan's reverts and warnings were appropriate." 77.58.143.13 (talk) 23:14, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Two remarks. One: the wording of the text on your Talkpage is a template. Don't take it too literally, it's written by the WP community and is supposed to be right (or right enough) for various occasions. Two: Your edits were nonconstructive in the sense that you wrote comments in the articles. If you have questions or remarks about an article's text, please discuss them on the article's Talkpage, not in the article itself. That's why I removed them. Cheers,  Yinta 22:46, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
I feel disrespected when you write "Don't take it too literally". I feel generally disrespected when someone tells me to do something without saying please. I don't want to discuss anymore because I feel repeatedly disrespected, unfairly criticized. 77.58.143.13 (talk) 23:14, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Walter Mathews, actor

Hi Yintan: I was so pleased to see my father in Wiki. He was an actor for 50 years and died last year. He (and I, and my siblings) was constantly correcting our last name spelling, and I wanted to fix the Wiki entry. His name is (was) Walter Mathews with one "t". The proper spelling is displayed at iMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0558732/) and Variety (http://variety.com/2012/scene/news/character-actor-walter-mathews-dies-1118053595/). Thanks very much, Bill Mathews — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.15.211.33 (talk) 22:41, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I'll move the article to Walter Mathews and get the whole problem solved. Cheers,  Yinta 22:46, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Papa Don't Preach

Next time, before you make abrupt deletions just because you personally didn't see a citation, examine if the source information is actually contained in the linked article. After all, one cannot cite another article in a "ref" format but rather simply linking to it. And if you don't reverse your deletion, I will reinsert my prior changes myself. Just a friendly reminder. 98.164.2.243 (talk) 23:42, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but that's not how it works. Refs should be in the article in which the claim is made, not in a different article about that claim itself. In other words, in this case the ref in Mazar's own article should also be in the Madonna 'Papa Don't Preach' section that mentions Mazar. Kind regards,  Yinta 00:06, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Laplace Transform

Second paragraph of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laplace_transform

In such analyses, the Laplace transform is often interpreted as a transformation from the time-domain, in which inputs and outputs are functions of time, to the frequency-domain, where the same inputs and outputs are functions of complex angular frequency, in radians per unit time.

Should be

In such analyses, the Fourier transform is often interpreted as a transformation from the time-domain, in which inputs and outputs are functions of time, to the frequency-domain, where the same inputs and outputs are functions of complex angular frequency, in radians per unit time.

The Fourier and Laplace transform are formally equivalent, but the Fourier one is the one associated with frequency domains. Can you make this change? (You prevented it a few minutes ago).

Really confuses people trying to understand the difference between the two transforms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.46.50.131 (talk) 09:26, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

No, signing has nothing to do with it. Edits aren't signed, only Talkpages (see WP:SIGHOW). Just stop censoring, please, it's considered disruptive. Thanks.  Yinta 14:09, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Viral Video

Hey,

Not sure why you removed it. On a page for Viral Videos it seemed only fitting to link to a site that categories the most-shared videos across the social web. It is not a commercial website. It's a totally free service for consumers.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.122.181.2 (talk) 14:18, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I removed it because there are already plenty of links, because the link shouldn't be in a list of Wikipedia articles, and because it's not a notable site. See WP:EL. Thanks,  Yinta 14:23, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

References

Does everything, every word, every sentence, need a bloody reference, does it?! Most of the references point to ridiculous sources anyway. Ooh, some fat dude said something on TV, it MUST be eligible for inclusion on wikipedia!

Bah! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.105.12 (talk) 22:34, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Short answer? Yes. Long answer? WP:RS. Cheers,  Yinta 22:38, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Your answer, "yes", is clearly incorrect. There is a HUGE amount of unrefenced material and interpretation on wikipedia. That crap link says "based on", not "ENTIRELY, EXCLUSIVELY TOTALLY" referenced material. Do you even know what I typed, or did you just click 'n' revert?

I mean, I just clicked "random article". Here's the first paragraph:

"Digital mixes (also known as mix networks) is a system that creates hard-to-trace communications by using a chain of proxy servers. Each message is encrypted to each proxy using public key cryptography; the resulting encryption is layered like a Russian doll (except that each "doll" is of the same size) with the message as the innermost layer. Each proxy server strips off its own layer of encryption to reveal where to send the message next. If all but one of the proxy servers are compromised by the tracer, untraceability can still be achieved against some weaker adversaries."

EXACTLY ZERO REFERENCES! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.105.12 (talk) 22:52, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

I know there's a huge amount of unreferenced stuff on Wikipedia. It's a big problem. Adding more isn't gonna help. By the way, please sign your posts (WP:SIGHOW), thanks.  Yinta 22:55, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Fine. I'll delete everything I find that is unreferenced from now on. That should leave you with a couple of pages, anyway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.105.12 (talk) 22:59, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Holbeck

The entry there is self-evidently incorrect as the Industrial Revolution was decades previous to Scholey's death. Also, almost the entire township, streets, pumps, tenants, etc., are still listed in his Will, which is on public display at the Borthwick Institute. 81.131.212.29 (talk) 10:30, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Vinayaka

I have added reference to all the quoted material from UGC site. UGC stands for University grants commission. It is the sole authority of recognition, accreditation of Universities in India as per the parliamentary acts. Just because some people don't know about this university or ar biased against it doesn't warrant wikpedia to make it look doubtful. That way why don't you go and keep on adding that tag to Harvard university and IIT, Indias too. they don't have this much refernce there. Just because you don't know about a univ doesn't make it needing 100s of citations. I know a few people posting on forums that Osmania univeristy is non existent university in hyderabad from which fake degrees are issued. so are you going to delete Osmania university page on wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.23.34.39 (talk) 10:57, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

You misunderstand. Please read the message about sources on your talkpag and please read WP:COPYVIO. The material you added to the article was copied from vmrf.edu.in and can't be on Wikipedia. Hi Yintan, my internet has finally been fixed after a few months, so I am more competent with you at Huggle again...although I believe yours is probably faster. Cheers. Arctic Kangaroo () 10:37, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I'm not that competetive. And trust me, I've got the slowest ADSL on the planet (256 kbit/s).  Yinta 11:44, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
Based on Speedtest.net, my internet (the one that's fixed) is at most 16Mbps. Those few months when my net was spoilt, I was using some mobile broadband modem which was about 2Mbps. I'm a little surprised that your's is 256Kbps and you can load so fast?! Anyway, I don't really mean competition, just about who reverts first, because I frequently get beaten by others (even Twinklers or undoers). Arctic Kangaroo () 14:11, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
LOL the same here. Based on speedtest.net, my speed is never more than 8 Mbps. But still Huggle lags sometime. Faizan 14:16, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Javal is not jawal

Hi Im a bit baffled by this comment. Javal has nothing to do with Jawal as it is a french family name (google it) and thus it is a constructive contribution to dissociate the two. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.156.124.85 (talk) 14:56, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello. I fail to see how deleting a valid redirect is a constructive contribution. Until there is an article about Javal, the family, the redirect is fine. If the Javal family is notable at all, that is (see WP:NOTABILITY). Also, you might like to leave an explanation in the edit summary or discuss your plans on the Talkpage. Regards,  Yinta 15:01, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Nurul Islam Edit

I recently made a change to Nurul Islam's (broadcaster) wikipedia page and you removed it due to having no source. The change that I made was to add the names of his children and I did not provide a source as one of them is my father and I did not have a relevant source to prove this.

I would be very grateful if you could re-do this change as it would make a difference to my family to be remembered alongside their loved one.

Many thanks, Isobel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.156.49.79 (talk) 23:09, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

Top 300 Home Run Hitters

Hi Yintan, I'm the user that deleted part of your "Players to Watch" section of the Top 300 Home Run Hitters. Under Wikipedia rules we have to keep that section updated daily. Traditionally, that section has only listed players within 40 home runs of the cutoff to make the Top 300. It's arbitrary but it makes sense - it's nice to know who's coming up but keeping track of more than a dozen or so players every day who aren't even close to the cutoff is a big hassle. Hence, I think the cutoff should be Brian McCann, who's 40 home runs shy of the cutoff. Otherwise updating the section is a greater hassle than it's worth.

Best, Bobby — Preceding unsigned comment added by BobbyBigWheel (talkcontribs) 13:30, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Bobby. First, it's not my "Players to Watch" section. I know f all about baseball . But you removed a chunk of the article without any discussion or edit summary. That's bound to raise the eyebrows of RCP patrollers like myself. I understand your reasoning but maybe it's better if you discuss it on the article's Talkpage first. Otherwise other editors will (probably) undo the change again. Cheers,  Yinta 13:45, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

wheatgrass page

You claimed I did not leave a citation ,and I did. So what is wrong with this citation: http://www.jbc.org/content/152/2/215.short

Dr. Kohler is a renown scientist. Why are you disregarding his work????

Further, you have a chart on that page that is clearly bogus. It is comparing wheatgrass juice, which was probably grown in someone's kitchen, and trying to claim that this was the same as what Dr. Schnabel produced. That is a boldfaced lie! Then you compare this bogus nonsense with brocolli and spinach with no reference whatsoever to how much of each plant was used, what form it was in, etc. How dare you claim that my reference from a very well known scientist published in a respected journal is not legit when you allow that bogus and absurd chart, which has no reference whatsoever, to stand?

Also the tone of your article is to make Dr. Schnabel out to be a crackpot. He was a very respected scientist whose work was published in numerous medical journals.

I would set up an account, but first I wanted to see if what they say about your supporting non-scientific baloney over scientific fact is indeed true, and it appear it is.

It's not my article and I'm not going to argue over Dr. Schnabel's work. I just suggest you read WP:RS and WP:NPOV, guidelines that were adopted to prevent the rise of non-scientific baloney over scientific fact. Also, please sign your message next time (WP:SIGHOW). Prism

I removed a paragraph criticizing PRISM from Ron Paul. Those are not references that belong in an unbiased article. I gave the reason. This is a free encyclopedia, not a place to enforce libertarian views, here is the paragraph in question:

Ron Paul, a former member of Congress and prominent libertarian, said, "We should be thankful for individuals like Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald who see injustice being carried out by their own government and speak out, despite the risk.... They have done a great service to the American people by exposing the truth about what our government is doing in secret."[68] Paul denounced the government's secret surveillance program: "The government does not need to know more about what we are doing.... We need to know more about what the government is doing."[68] He called Congress "derelict in giving that much power to the government," and said that had he been elected president, he would have ordered searches only when there was probable cause of a crime having been committed, which he said was not how the PRISM program was being operated.[69]

A former member of congress is not a good source for current domestic response. A news source, organization (EFF, ACLU, etc.), or current member of congress are all sources. A retied member of congress has no more sway than an average person on the street. If we leave Ron Paul's response there, then why don't we put other normal citizens' quotes as well?

The section "Domestic Response" also has no claims by those not supporting Snowden. Wikipedia is a place to show all views on the subject, so they should be added. If you leave the Ron Paul quote, then Dick Cheney's response must be added as well.

"A reti[r]ed member of congress has no more sway than an average person on the street"? Interesting opinion. And a retired president? George W. Bush now equals John Doe? In any case, you removed sourced content. If you want to add Cheney's opinion too, go ahead, just make sure it's sourced. And please sign your post next time (WP:SIGHOW). As far as I can tell you're doing fine. One remark: if you revert vandalism do add a warning to the vandal's Talkpage. The more warnings, the sooner they're blocked. Cheers,  Yinta 12:59, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you

for the heads-up about G.K. Vasan. I've block the anon user again. Regards. Ground Zero | t 21:42, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Changes are needed to Hermann

I made two reasonable changes to Hermann both of which I think are justified. I assume your deletion of my changes were made out of ignorance of the purpose of my changes. Therefore le me state them clearly First, since Herrmann redirects to Hermann, the word "herrmann" should therefore be somewhere on "hermann". Second, "Herrmann Hall" is the major building on the Naval Postgraduate School and is the old historic Hotel Del Monte renamed. Since (a) Herrmann is a disambugation page, (b) people might search for "Herrmann Hall", and (c) it is common practice on such pages, there should be a link from "Hermann" to "Hotel Del Monte". I suggest that we adopt my changes. If you still stand by your quick deletion of my work, please explain. --Iloilo Wanderer (talk) 10:09, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

You are completely correct. My apologies, I jumped the gun.  Yinta 10:11, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Are you attempting to support libel on Wikipedia?

It appears that you are using your authority to support the libelous content on The Spamhaus page. Please note that The STOPhaus Movement is backed by The Homogeneous Party, a registered Political Party in the State of Florida and we will not tolerate deliberate libel to be published on your site and you continue to revise corrections that mitigate the damages of libel. Before the edits were made, there was a lengthy discussion on your IRC Chat on this topic and I was advised to edit the Page. Citations were properly added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.12.126.18 (talk) 10:28, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

No, I support well sourced statements on Wikipedia. Most of your refs don't support what you're saying and are merely explanations of a technical term or websites of mentioned companies. Also, there are a lot of unsourced statements. That's why I reverted. Please check out WP:RS for more info. Thanks,  Yinta 10:35, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Be it known that the content that was published concerning "Cyberbunker DDoS Spamhaus" was libelous in nature, published by a party with a conflict of interests and the only sources that were used were provided by New York Times, while the author herself, Nicole Perlroth admitted to publishing a false article fed to her by Cloudflare and Spamhaus. In other words, you are using content provided by Spamhaus and Cloudflare as both the article and the citations. I edited the libel out and added independent citations from sources such as Heavy.com, Softpedia, and Ars. Your avid discomfort in the truth is leading to an investigation into your own bias toward Spamhaus and/or Cloudflare and there is currently rumor that Anons are considering an Operation to thwart further malicious publications from you.

If you are seeking additional citations, we can supply them. If you want to interview Sven, myself, or any other member of STOPhaus we can support that. If you would like to see the admission of Nicole Perlroth from NYT stating that she was fed the article she posted, we can supply that as well. What we will not do is continue to allow you to maliciously libel a protected political entity or it's couterparts. This action is deemed a violation of Civil Laws and known as libel-per-say and you are responsible for continuing to support libel with your reverting of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.12.126.18 (talk) 11:06, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Investigate all you want, and don't even think of threatening me. It's considered bad manners and utterly pointless. I'm not impressed. You are aware of the fact that a single Wikipedia article is written by hundreds of people? Also, don't delete my answers from my own Talkpage. Lastly, seeing that your stuff keeps being reverted I appear not to be the only one who has problems with your sources.  Yinta 13:54, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

First and foremost, you were not threatened. You were notified that your actions, if continued, will lead to litigation. That is not a threat, that is a legal remedy to libel. We are filing for an injunction of your site today. I guess we will see if it was a threat. We will also be launching an Operation against Wikipedia for being libel-mongers and will test the capabilities of your staff, system, and personal lives. That, my friend, is a promise! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.12.126.24 (talk) 20:18, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm really worried now. And you'll test the capabilities of my personal life? That'll be interesting.  Yinta 21:09, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Changes to the Elbert Frank Cox Wikipedia page

hallo Yintan,

I was trying (my first attempt) to enter the source addresses for the text on Elbert Frank Cox and his PhD studies at Cornell University (PhD 1925), which was missing from the Elbert Frank Cox Wikipedia page.

I made a mistake -- entering two http addresses in the source address WITHIN EACH of the [1] brackets instead of each BETWEEN these brackets. Sorry.

The sources of the additions are:

http://www.math.buffalo.edu/mad/PEEPS/cox_elbertf.html (this is where the text came from) and http://www.maa.org/summa/archive/Cox_EF.htm (this confirms the added information)

Can you see the source addresses and help me fix them. Thankx 89.204.137.215 (talk) 22:47, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Give me a minute, I'll take a look.  Yinta 22:52, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Yintan,

OK, my second attempt to fix the error has resulted in messing up the titles of two sections of the Wikipedia Text entitled COLLEGE YEARS and WEST VIRGINIA STATE COLLEGE -- sorry again.

Can you or anyone help to fix this? (Sorry for the error, but the info on Cox is important because the Wiki page completely left out that Elbert Frank Cox did, in fact, earn his PhD from Cornell University in 1924/5, and, that he was the first African American to earn a PhD in Mathematics, ever. In addition, the information is important because it shows that Cornell University was open to such advanced scientific work by African American (Cornell University was also one of the first US Universities to admit women to graduate law and science programs).

Thanks for your help.

89.204.137.215 (talk) 22:57, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

That error has already been fixed. Considering your first question, is this[13] any help? Short version: just enter <ref>the URL</ref> at the appropriate spot(s) in the text. Regards,  Yinta 23:00, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Yintan, I fixed the problem on the Elbert Frank Cox Wikipedia page after all. Thankx. 89.204.137.215 (talk) 23:03, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

looking for freedom

Hi I don't have time to mess about, I just thought the information relating to the song's inclusion in both "Cloud Atlas" and "Moone Boy" would update the article. I've NO interest in proving it, I heard it with my own ears band have no reason to lie. I have no time to waste on such things.

Apologies if you're just protecting the page from vandalism but have a strong dislike of people policing pages and turning a simple helpful community into a string of pointless hierarchy to satisfy geeks in basements who have nothing better to do. Apologies again if that's not the case here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marxthedude (talkcontribs) 23:41, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Bad news: Wikipedia doesn't care about your own ears. It wants verifiable sources. That has nothing to do with geeks in basements, but everything with reliability. If you have "no time to waste on such things" then you're on the wrong website. Cheers,  Yinta 23:47, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Dear Yintan,

We donot want this article on Wikipedia which was initially created by me, because of three broad issues: 1) The name he is asscoiated is Dr. V. Raghunathan and not Vishwanathan Raghunathan. We have tried to incorporate this change but the same has ben declined many a times; 2) Its says in bold that it is a orphan article, right on the top. This is not something one would prefer on something been publish. Though there are a lot of reasons given but no solution; 3) It says "This article has multiple issues. Please help improve it or discuss these issues on the talk page". We have prepared this article for the last two months and have discussed the same n numerable times, there was miniminal amount of assistance from your end. Now it has been advised that we improve it and discuss these issues. Whats the use of publishing an article showcasing comments like this. 4) If there were issues with the authencity of the article "This article may rely excessively on sources too closely associated with the subject, preventing the article from being verifiable and neutral" then what was the use publishing it on the net.

It was our lack of knowledge and not knowing every rules and regulation of wikipedia by heart that has caused these issues. But with published comments like this on the article one feels we have just wasted our efforts, resources and time on this. Thus, as you will not be helping us out on this, request you to please remove this article from Wikipedia, atleast then I beleive we will receive some respect for our efforts.

Best Regards, Arijeet — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aghosh4 (talkcontribs) 11:44, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello Arijeet. Unfortunately that's not how Wikipedia works. If you're unhappy with the way the article has turned out you can only try to improve it. Deleting it because you don't like it is not an option. If Dr. Raghunathan himself wants the article deleted, he can contact the Wikipedia foundation but you (or me) can't make that decision. So I suggest you try to improve the article. To get you going I've already done some copy editing on it. Regards,  Yinta 12:27, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi,

I've relisted my edit and added a couple of citations. I think I've done it right, don't know if you want to have a quick look to see if it's correct? Thanks for you help :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by RitchieJB (talkcontribs) 22:13, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ritchie. Yes, that's better. Sources are essential, especially in controversial cases like that. If you could add a source for Allen's resignation as well it would be even better. Thanks.  Yinta 22:18, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

RE: Yintan 22:23, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Yintan,

I'm wondering why you believed our company external link for "List of companies headquartered in San Diego" seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia? InfoToad Consulting is a local, licensed Company headquarter in San Diego, CA, providing Information Technology services and solutions. Please share with us your decision to remove our company name - if you require additional information, please advise.

Thank you,

InfoToad Consulting — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hesquivel (talkcontribs) 19:38, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I removed you from the listing because, as you may have seen, the "List of Companies" contains links to Wikipedia articles about these companies, not to their external sites. In general, a company's external site is only linked from an article about that company (more info about that at WP:EL). If InfoToad is notable enough for an article of its own, see WP:CORP, then the link can go there. Kind regards,  Yinta 21:10, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the information. Just curious, why do a couple of other local companies have external links to their site, on the same page (List of Companies)? We'll get working on a Wikipedia article about our company in the meantime...

They shouldn't have and they don't anymore. By the way, please sign your posts (WP:SIGHOW), that makes it a little easier for everybody to figure out who they are talking to. . Cheers,  Yinta 21:33, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Spotting external links

(talk page stalker) Hi, I noticed the thread above about external links. Not sure if you would find this helpful; but at User:Barek/monobook.css, the first four lines on that page customize the color of external links and inter-wiki links. If you're interested in this, you would just need to copy those four lines to the appropriate .css page for whichever skin you are using. For me, I found it useful as it helps me more easily recognize when a page contains links other than the normal internal wiki-links. The downside of course is that it makes the page more colorful, which some people find distracting. Just thought I would mention it, in case you found it useful. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 21:47, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Barek. Thanks for the tip, that could come in handy.  Yinta 21:54, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
Very handy, actually.  Yinta 22:22, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

hoffman

In re-instating the description I made of Hoffman (and subsequently changing "many" to "some") I was trying to describe the quality of the film as is evident and noticed by modern fans, but there is no orthodox "source" as none of the critics at the time realized how good the film was. Wikipedia should be able to use the subject itself (the film) and commonsense to describe it accurately. On Wikipedia.fr, the editors use their own judgment in analyzing the works of Robert W Chambers without using sources. Their judgment is right and available sources are not reliable. It is a question of responsible judgment on the part of the editor.

The fact is that Hoffman is confined to obscurity by traditional sources as it flopped at the box office, and yet it really is one of Sellers' best films technically. Wikipedia should be able to establish this. Whitespeck (talk) 00:55, 29 June 2013 (UTC)whitespeck

Hi Whitespeck. "available sources are not reliable"? Maybe you're right, I can't judge that, but overhere the guidelines want reliable sources and verifiability. I know that can be frustrating at times but anything else is original research. Regards,  Yinta 08:42, 29 June 2013 (UTC

Placido Domingo and versatile

Thanks for your comments and support of this issue. As you'll now see, I've the problem and used a rather ironic statement on the edit line in the hope that this user will heed my advice in future. Viva-Verdi (talk) 22:26, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

My pleasure, and nicely solved.  Yinta 22:36, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

RE: Your fallacious editing of Gabiley

The source you restored to the Gabiley page is a false representation of the actual coordinates of the said town Gabiley. I ask that you stop reversing the correct edit that I have put in place, with the appropriate refrences or I will be forced to report this. Thank you, Abdi 909 (talk) 6:23, 29 June 2013 (EST)

As I said in the edit summary when I reverted your edit[14], the other site gives better information. Furthermore, your source says the coordinates it gives are approximate, while the existing source (the one I prefer) is based on US military intelligence. That's the reason I reverted, it's simply about quality of information. If you want to report that as 'fallacious', go right ahead.  Yinta 22:31, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
By the way, since you're mainly editing your own userpage or the Gabiley article, I kindly suggest you take a quick look at WP:OWN. Regards,  Yinta 14:14, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
