Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Mean as custard (talk) 15:26, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I wish to understand how other 5 external links like SLB and Emerson/Roxar present the same promotional pages through the links they placed, in the multiphase flow meter entry, with 3 more doing the same, and yet my link was reverted - what is the difference, please? if htey are legitimate, so should be mine, isn't the case similar?

You can ask Maproom, who by the way is not an administrator. Any experienced editor can do what they did. There is a blue link above to the policy on external links. The main idea is that external links should provide information that is useful but cannot be included in a Wikipedia article, whereas links intended just for promotion are not allowed. Yes, I know, companies trying to promote themselves are providing you with information they consider useful.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:52, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
