Proposed deletion of Cloud Side Application[edit]

The article Cloud Side Application has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable term with all of 24 unique Google hits, mostly not this particular usage of the term.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Please Help[edit]

I need help for improving the article Cloud Side Application for preventing deletion.

I am not sure what is the exact meaning of "Non-notable term with all of 24 unique Google hits, mostly not this particular usage of the term"?

The term "Cloud Side Application" is the formal name of the pending patent,

Do I required working on Search engine optimization? It is not my profession.

The term is also been use by a commercial company called "Triple IT", that sells licenses for using "Cloud Side Application".

Should I add external link to the company page? I don't want it to be considered as advertisement.

I can add technical material and diagrams, but I am not sure it will fit to the article?

Can I add external link to the formal site of the "Israeli Institute of Information Technology" it is a scientific reliable source but nit in English?

Thank you in advance for your help (Yoram Bucks (talk) 20:18, 21 November 2015 (UTC))[reply]

Wikipedia only covers topics that have received significant coverage in reliable third-party sources such as newspapers or reputable tech magazines. That's not an issue of SEO, but of the media taking note of the invention. It seems that hasn't happened yet; thus it's too soon to write about the invention on Wikipedia. Non-English sources are acceptable in principle, but I rather don't think the Israeli Institute of Information Technology's website would be considered a reliable source. If their scientists have written about Cloud Side Application in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, that's something else entirely (assumint those scientists aren't directly involved in the development of the technology, in which case they wouldn't be independent sources about their own work). Regarding to Cloud Side Application article[edit]

In continuation to the previous section: "third-party sources such as newspapers or reputable tech magazines"

Indeed the organizations I mentioned in the previous question are not third parties.

The cover or interaction of "Cloud Side Application" with third parties is:

1. It is a pending patent in the USPTO submitted on 13-May 2014 and ready for PDX access by participating foreign offices. It can be viewed in the USPTO site: publication number 14/276,815

2. On November 2014 an IT unit in the Israeli government decides to use "Cloud Side Application" as the preferred technology for rapid development. Since then at list ten different applications has been developed.

3. On 24-Mar 2015 "Cloud Side Application" was covered in a tow and half minutes item in the Israeli channel 2 in "Chadshot Halayla" program (night news); a month latter it was covered on "Layla Kalkali" program (economic night) in Chanel 10. It can be viewed online in the Chanel 10 web site.

4. Since October 2015 "Cloud Side Application" is an integral course in Bar-Ilan University in Israel and also has been used by students for many projects.

My question is whether those third parties recognitions are enough, should I mention it with (or without) links in the article?

Regards --Yoram Bucks (talk) 07:56, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  1. The pending patent is rather obviously not a third-party source since the application was written by people directly involved in the invention. The patent office does not provide peer review or the like; it's possible to get almost anything patented, including devices supposedly violating the known laws of physics. So a patent application isn't a particularly reliable source, either.
  2. If news sources such as, say, the Jerusalem Post or Haaretz have reported on the IT unit's choice, that might help. The IT unit's own website or something like that would firstly be a primary source and secondly likely wouldn not be subject to meaningful editorial oversight.
  3. The TV coverage may help. Personally I don't speak Hebrew, but if you can provide links I expect some Hebrew-speaking editor can comment on the validity of those sources.
  4. If scientists at Bar-Ilan University have written peer-reviewed scholarly papers about Cloud Side Application, those would make excellent sources. If they're merely using it, see the IT unit above.
The issue isn't so much "recognition", much less "interaction", but whether there are reliable sources that discuss the topic in some detail so we can summarize what they say to write the article. These sources should be independent of the invention itself (and of the inventor to both avoid possible bias and to show that others have found it notable enough to write about - Wikipedia uses this criterion as a safeguard against self-promotion. Cloud Side Application article[edit]

Regarding the TV coverage it can be viewed at the program web site http://10tv.nana10.co.il/Category/?CategoryID=600376 search for the episode from 5-May 2015 and jump to minute 19:38.

For the best of my knowledge Bar-Ilan scientists did not wrote a peer-reviewed scholarly papers about Cloud Side Application, and the IT governmental unit does not use to publish anything neither own a web site.

You can see the course listed in Bar-Ilan site at https://dory.os.biu.ac.il/BIH/ and search for course number 35602.

If it is not enough I can ask recommendation letters from the head of the IT unit and from the computer science dean in Bar-Ilan and also from Tel Aviv University or Weizmann Institute of Science that are also considering using it.

I have asked at WT:WikiProject Israel for help by an editor who can speak Hebrew to assess those sources. I can't, but to me that video didn't seem to be about Cloud Side Application; it looked more like a report about some sort of meetup. Personally I'd say it's simply too soon to write about this invention on Wikipedia. Huon (talk) 20:22, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
