January 2021[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Gary Harris, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Specifically, links are generally not repeated per MOS:REPEATLINK.Bagumba (talk) 02:45, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bagumba, Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I will do my best to ensure that I don’t repeat that mistake!

Youngjtdyt (talk) 03:02, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Dave Simmons (basketball, born 1963). There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. You unnecessarily repeated a team link again.Bagumba (talk) 03:20, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am in the process of going through and fixing the unnecessary hyperlinks. I would appreciate patience from you, Sabbatino and whomever else I have frustrated. Didn’t mean to be disruptive. Thank you, see you around.

Freddie McSwain moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Freddie McSwain, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Lettlerhellocontribs 23:55, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I went to write it and it became an article right away so I was a little confused. First time taking a crack at it so I appreciate the help!

Basketball articles[edit]

I just saw you helped with a lot of articles in the basketball world the past week, including a few that I worked on as well. Keep up the good work, and thanks! Ausbasketvic (talk) 04:08, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am looking forward to you covering Australian basketball a bit more! We have plenty of young players making a name for themselves in the NBL and Big V. Ausbasketvic (talk) 04:10, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ausbasketvic: Thank you, it’s not a particular focus of mine at the moment but I will contribute where I can. Welcome to Wikipedia Youngjtdyt (talk) 04:41, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

NWHL and hockey notability guidelines[edit]

Saw your comment at Draft:Jordan Brickner about raising a discussion about expending notability guidelines for WikiProject Ice Hockey. While you’re more than welcome to do so, the Women's Ice Hockey task force raised the same discussion fairly recently and were met by pretty fierce opposition from a small but quite vocal group of WP:NHL members. For our part, WP:WHOCKEY opted to distance ourselves from the hockey notability guidelines and have adopted WP:GNG as our principal guidance. None of which is to say that you ought not raise the issue again, only to forewarn that it is a bit of a landmine. Best wishes however you choose to go forward and please feel welcome to connect with the Women's Ice Hockey task force if you are interested in pursuing further contributions to women's hockey coverage on Wikipedia! – Spitzmauskc (talk) 08:17, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Spitzmauskc: I appreciate you informing me of the previous attempts and also including me in potential plans for the future. I’ll definitely go check that out! All the best Youngjtdyt (talk) 18:49, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for beating me to the punch Spitzmauskc! Yeah, Youngjtdyt, you'd be fighting an uphill battle with trying to change the notability guidelines. What I have tried to do on some of NHCLS other drafts is to try to apply the guidelines for college atheletes, or playing for the national team in the IIHF world championships. I personally held off on accepting the Brickner article because I didn't see her meeting those two guidelines. I think Spitzmauskc makes a good point about GNG, but sometimes that can be harder to find and reviewers still may look toward the HOCKEY guidelines. Best of luck in reviewing! We need all the help we can get! Bkissin (talk) 16:22, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bkissin: Haha well it is good you are also being so vigilant, can’t have too many helpful eyes. I’ll consider what you’ve shared and see if I can find a way to help. Thanks for getting in touch, good luck to you too! Youngjtdyt (talk) 17:06, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

This account is not a sockpuppet. I have been around far longer than the account associated with this investigation and never had any such issue. I was not paid for editing, nor have I ever been. The pages I have authored or contributed to significantly Transfer portal Freddie McSwain Jr. Trace Cureton Stefan Iulius Gavril get a lot of my focus and I try and stay active with them, but that doesn’t mean I was paid to do so. I have written to the best of my ability, and honestly. If cleanup for any of my work is requested, I am happy to comply. Please review my contribution history and see that this block is unwarranted, as I do not damage or disrupt the encyclopedia. Thank you. Youngjtdyt (talk) 07:25, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

See below. Also funny you mention about (not) being paid, yet you are blocked for sockpuppetry. MER-C 15:16, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain your relationship to Youngjtdyt2020 (talk · contribs)? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 21:56, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@NinjaRobotPirate: I do not have a relationship. Youngjtdyt (talk) 01:19, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, come on. Do you seriously expect us to believe that? MER-C 15:16, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
{{reply to|MER-C}} I do expect that, and to be treated in good faith. Being blocked for sockpuppetry doesn’t mean I am a sockpuppet. What would it take to clear my name? Checkuser? Not editing the pages I have significantly contributed to (listed above) without informing you? Youngjtdyt (talk) 01:54, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MER-C: Apologies for the template issue, please let me know. Youngjtdyt (talk) 01:58, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Did it not occur to you that the person who blocked you, who is the same person who asked that question, is a checkuser who almost certainly performed a check before blocking you? MER-C 12:29, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MER-C: Your attempt at condescension isn’t appreciated. I am trying to resolve this and have offered solutions to do so. It did occur to me, and I’m positive there wasn’t a Checkuser connect to any other account or IP address. Because I’m not a sockpuppet. He blocked me because he suspected me of being one.
