Welcome!

I have been teaching a class on the Internet and the Web in Zhengzhou, China and have been working with students to create wikipedia articles on topics of note here in Zhengzhou. Anyone who has flagged problems in my students articles is much appreciated, as this has helped them improve them. Hopefully, most problems with them will be fixed in short time and they will have contributed useful articles of quality to wikipedia on topics relevant to Zhengzhou. We have been surprised to find how few articles there are about notable things here, for instance, Dahe daily, one of the newspapers with the highest circulation in China (and of course the world as well) had no wikipedia page, or Baidu Tieba was created by two of our students Mfor one of the most popular websites in China that contains over 2 million user forums. Here is a list of all articles we have been working on:

Hula Soup
Zhengzhou Renmin Park
Zhengzhou Ostrich Park
QZone
Zhengzhou Century Amusement Park
He'nan Anfei Electronic Glass Co.,Ltd
Zhengzhou No.1 High School
Dahe Daily
Happy Valley Amusement Park Chengdu
Baidu Paste Bar
Zhengzhou Foreign Language School
Dragon Pavilion
Shi Ren Mountain
Dennis Shopping Center
ZhengZhou Esli GAC
Baligou Valley
Wu Bei Zhi
Corner Stone Education
Kaifeng Specialties was deleted
Blue tiger with moon sword was deleted

While the articles have been made by different students and are thus at differing levels of quality, I am assisting them in the process, and now they will be editing each others articles (hopefully the more proficient students will be able to fix the problems with the lower quality articles).

Speedy deletion of Qzone[edit]

A tag has been placed on Qzone, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article.

Yuzheng reponse:[edit]

My students have added a "disadvantages" section to hopefully make it read less like an advertisement.

Thanks from YuZheng[edit]

Thanks for flagging these things, especially the recommendations for Zhengzhou Century Amusement Park. My username has been temporarily borrowed by my students to create articles about (hopefully) notable topics in our area. I am working with them to improve their articles, including on using references, relevant photos (they have taken themselves) or other acceptable ones. As well as discussing the kind of vocabulary and perspective expected on wikipedia articles. They are working to improve the pages to better meet the expectations of an encyclopedia along with my advice. Thanks for contributing to their contributions by flagging problems.

Speedy deletion of KaiFeng Snacks[edit]

A tag has been placed on KaiFeng Snacks, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Yuzheng response[edit]

Sorry, my Chinese students are used to a positive POV, and they are learning about neutral points of view.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Global Assessment Certificate, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.globalassessment.com. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. YuZheng Reponse[edit]

Thanks for deleting this.

Neutral point of view[edit]

Hi there,

It's great that you are creating those nice articles with lovely pictures, however there are problems with the articles.

They are not neutral. You are using words that are not suitable for wikipedia.

Thats why the articles are being tagged, and they could be deleted if they are not changed.

For example;

In Zheng zhou century amusement park, you wrote;

The most beautiful facility in the park is the ferris wheel. It is claimed to be the largest ferris wheel in asian in 2004. It is also the land mark of zheng zhou city. Visitors can broaden their horizon to see the beauty of whole zheng zhou city.

You should avoid words like 'beautiful', and anything that sounds like an advert.

It would be better to write;

The park contains a ferris wheel, which offers a view of the whole city.

If you have a reference to prove that it was the largest in Asia in 2004, then say so and give the reference, for example,

It was the largest ferris wheel in Asia in 2004.[1]

...and give a reference.

If you cannot use references to support facts, then those facts cannot remain in wikipedia.

Please read these guides; WP:NPOV and WP:WEASEL

I hope this informaion will help make your articles better,

If you need any help with this, just ask. Put

{{helpme}}

on this page and ask your question.

Good luck,

Yuzheng response[edit]

My students are aware of the non-neutral perspective they used and appreciate your feedback, they discussed it as a problem with their page.

Image copyright problem with many files response by YuZheng[edit]

Many images have been uploaded by my students as they are learning to work with wikipedia. I have gone through and either recommended for deletion the images that my students uploaded without having the copyright to, or have fixed the copyright information in the ones they own. Hopefully, I have fixed all the images.

Your edits are being amended because you are still using terms that are not acceptable as pointed out to you above, and also the level of English you are using is not of a good level and it needs correcting so that it reads properly. Please therefore do not simply revert the corrections as they have been made for good reason, especially as you are not even using an edit summary to explain your edits. Thank you.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:25, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop restoring poorly worded and non-neutral content into the article. I am trying to help you improve the article, but you are making it very difficult to help you. Please just slow down and try and work with other users.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:44, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in Dennis Shopping Center, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please will you stop restoring content which has already been amended and re-worded correctly. You have had enough messages now about your edits, and seem unwilling or unable to take on board what is being said.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:54, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to use disruptive or hard to read formatting, as you did in Dennis Shopping Center, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:58, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yuzheng Response[edit]

Sorry Tangerine, you were editing the page with students who were working on their first wikipedia contribution. They actually did appreciate your edits to your article and discussed them when presenting to their class about what they had learned from trying to create a wikipedia article. Sorry if it felt like you were fighting with them.

Speedy deletion of Blue tiger with moon sword[edit]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages such as Blue tiger with moon sword, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Yuzheng response[edit]

The students who have been working on this article have been having difficulty. I have recommended to them that they abandon the article and try to learn through editing their classmates' work.

YuZheng[edit]

Yes we know, we are trying to do an English language exercise however.YuZheng (talk) 05:46, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that, as far as I can tell, no one has sent you a link to our page on Wikipedia:School and university projects, which outlines some suggestions and additional links to try to support projects such as the one you are working on. In particular, I would ask that you have your students create their own individual usernames rather than working under collective names. It is against our policies to have people sharing accounts. This is for many reasons, including (1) often, we need to be able to communicate directly with users, not just groups, and (2) our licensing requires that we be able to identify the individual user who made each contribution. Thanks for your time, and I hope your class has a good experience working with us. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:39, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that the accounts CornerstoneClassA4 and CornerstoneClassA5 have been disabled. Please ask your students to create their own individual accounts (you can ask them to begin the account name with a prefix to help you identify them). Stifle (talk) 17:44, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

YuZheng Response[edit]

Originally, I was going to have each student create their own usernames, but unfortunately, we had to share usernames because our school's IP address is blocked from wikipedia (and thus my students were unable to create their own). I tried to contact to have the block removed, but I was unable to convincingly prove that we are a school as we do not have an email server (and thus I couldn't send an email from a school email address to prove we are a school). If it is possible to reinstate those two usernames until the block on our school IP address expires it would be much appreciated. YuZheng (talk) 05:45, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Updated Response[edit]

I see our school's IP address has now been blocked access from any username. Hopefully it can be restored? Our school's IP address is 218.28.19.229. I will cancel the student's projects and not have them edit each other articles for the time being.

Image copyright problem with File:Amusement century park.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Amusement century park.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Shared accounts[edit]

You will know now that shared accounts cannot be used on Wikipedia. You where most likely caught in the autoblock of the block of the 2 classproject accounts. If it is still not possible to register accounts an admin can help you by registering those accounts for yourself. Just list a list of accounts you would like to be registered and an admin can send the password details to you if you have email enabled on your account. To the teacher[edit]

Teacher - please read

Hi,

Now I've read your explanation, I think I understand what's happened here. I'd like to help if I can. I think the project is a good idea, and with some modification, it could work well.

I would suggest you do the following;

-Get your students to each create their own wikipedia account, as part of the exercise.

-Put a notice at the top of each of their talk pages and their user pages that explains your project, and links to your own talk page with [[User:YuZheng]]. This will make it much easier for wikipedians to understand what you're doing.

-Put an explanation of your role as teacher at the top of this talk page, and on your user page.

-Learn how to create a user subpage, and how the students can use them whilst working on articles, without causing all the problems you've had (ie all the warning messages etc)

I hope that this will help. Good luck with the project; I think it could work really well.

If I can help any further, please leave me a message on my own talk page.

Thanks, --  Chzz  ►  10:35, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Regarding fixing the existing articles, please put your comments on the talk page of each article, instead of here. --  Chzz  ►  10:37, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.P.S. I've just edited the article Hu La Tang; please look carefully at these edits, which I hope will give you lots of ideas on how to improve the other articles.

You might also want to put the template {{underconstruction}} at the top of the other pages, which will tell people that you are working on them.

A tag has been placed on Shi Ren Mountain, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Shi Ren Mountain and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Dennis Logo.jpg)[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Dennis Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not.
