Hey Buddy. Absolutely nothing to apologize for. As for the extra work, that was my choice. You did a fine job. The problem was created when he came along and started tampering.

I'm sorry I got involved with him in the first place. When he first came to me, I thought I just had a very frustrated newby and I was trying to coach him (you can see the progession on his user page). Then things slowely started to come out... I'd never heard of him before yesterday. Now I don't want anything more to do with him. But the principle of the thing is what I was concerned with.

Loren Coleman

I´ve seen that you have discussed Loren Coleman´s edits and that everything he writes seems to be deleted. I am responsible for some of this, but I think it´s entirely justified since he only seems to be interested in talking about himself, using biased, unencyclopedic language and promote his reputation, books and websites. I consider it rude and tasteless and something that does not belong to a serious, excellent place like Wikipedia.

Consider his contributions to the Bigfoot-article:

"In 1999, Loren Coleman and Patrick Huyghe wrote their ground-breaking book, "The Field Guide to Bigfoot, Yeti, and Other Mystery Primates Worldwide" (republished in an updated edition in 2006 as "The Field Guide to Bigfoot and Other Mystery Primates"), which proposed a classification system based on the scientific model. Several eyewitness accounts from zoologists, anthropologists, wildlife biologists, law enforcement officers, and other credible citizens were assembled for the first time to create a solid foundation of testmonies across the spectrum for the cryptozoological reality of these hominoids.

2000s Loren Coleman's book, "Bigfoot! The True Story of Apes in America" summarized decades of the study of these cryptids, and pushed it forward by asking questions about the biological nature of the animals, their sexuality, their aggressive behavior, and focussed on the zoology versus whether or not they existed. This established a new way of scientifically examining the topic, versus debating it. Reported sightings of three giant human-like creatures in the Endau Rompin National Park in late 2005 led to the formation of an official Bigfoot-tracking team, appointed by the state's Chief Minister, Abdul Ghani Othman in January of 2006. "Bigfoot" fever struck Johor after three fishermen reported seeing the creatures and took a photograph of a footprint, which was printed in Malaysian newspapers. Doesn´t this look like obvious self-promotion and self-advertisement to you? And I don´t think it´s suitable to say that your own books are "ground-breaking" on Wikipedia. It´s bad taste and a biased statement.

"During 2005-2006, cryptozoologist Loren Coleman has been lecturing, appearing on television and radio talk shows, and writing extensively about the Malaysian Bigfoot or Mawas sightings and situation, which has dominated South Asian, American, and other media stories since December 2005. Coleman's weblog at Cryptomundo.com 1 has daily updates on the news being issued from Johor due to his contacts with many local researchers and newspeople in Malaysia. In May 2006, for example, Coleman announced through his blog that Dr. Chow has seen three of 11 photographs taken of the Mawas by a Malaysian, and a book will be forthcoming from Chow and others publishng these photographs. Coleman also obtained an exclusive interview with Harold Stephens who had conducted 1970s expeditions in Johor in pursuit of the then named Orang Dalam. Stephens gathered eyewitness accounts and found large footprints comparable with those being reported for the Johor Mawas in 2005-2006, but his pursuit of the creatures had largely been forgotten. While including good information too, it is also filled with what seems to me at least to be shameless self-promotion. Does he REALLY need to say he "obtained an exclusive interview"?

I have also deleted his edits on "his" article. But remember, this is an unbiased, objective encyclopedia. Loren Colemans article here is an encyclopedic entry, not a personal page of Loren Coleman. If he try to add stuff that looks obviously uncritically self-promoting like "He is one of the world's leading cryptozoologists, some critics and media commentators say "the" leading. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.", I think I have the full right to delete it. While that statement may be accurate, I think it need to have verifications and looks like Coleman wants to promote himself.

I think it´s dangerous if people start to edit articles about themselves. It seems like good taste and common sense to avoid it, since it´s obviously somewhat difficult to write unbiased and objective about yourself. But maybe we need to ask an administrator what he think and what is suitable/allowed on Wikipedia. I don´t want to get banned for deleting his edits, but I think Loren is asking for it if his contributions is like this...

Hello Zag could you edit my articles?

SETI

I see that you added the Paranormal Project tag to SETI. Granted, there are skeptics that anyone is out there, or that we would be able to detect their transmissions. But I see SETI as part of normal astronomy, done by university credentialled scientists, using radio telescopes and signal processors looking for signals from radio transmitters. It is done on equipment paid for by the scientific establishment, and published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. I propose to untag the article. Let me know your thoughts in this regard. Thanks. Not to be rude but I would hold off on entirely revamping the article until it goes through FAC. One of the main criteria is that it remain stable during FAC unless it addresses editor's concerns. If you completely re-do it like you seem to be doing an original reviewer will have reviewed a version entirely different than the one that got approved. Besides so far 6 reviewers have reviewed and haven't made any concerns but adding more images. Quadzilla99 18:46, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but we're bound to have to work together a little and if you do a lot of work I'll probably have a lot of comments and then well you know. This happened to B movie which was nominated at a size of 76kb and then expanded to 130 kb by the main editor during FAC. It met with a lot of criticism and was immediatelty reviewed as a lot of editors complained that the article was completely different than the one they reviewed. In the end it had to be redone and was a relatively big fiasco for some people see B movie's talk page for an example. Quadzilla99 18:53, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Well linking it back to that shot is highly speculative and involves a level of conjecture that I don't feel is really appropriate. Now if we have a quote from MJ saying that then it would be acceptable, but as far as some talking heads guessing at what caused his transformation, I wouldn't be happy with that personally. Pure speculation. I probably don't have to tell you what that implies would have happened had he missed that shot (after all Jordan had a commercial where he said he missed so and so number of game winning shots). Does that imply he would have then been an average to maybe fringe All-Star NBA player? Perhaps a better transition would be to mention that he was left to lead the team after the talented upperclassman left and that he blossomed in that role. Of course there could quite possibly be a direct quote from MJ that would justify your exact wording, but as for me I wouldn't even believe him. After all look what he did after coming up short in the clutch in the playoffs in 1995, only trained like a madman and led his team to 72 wins. Him missing that shot could have motivated him even more and made him an even better player. this whole thing is pure speculartion and better left to sports articles and not encyclopedias. Oh, ok well in that case by all means make the change. I was just opposed to other people interpreting things into that shot. The last thing I wanted is a bunch of talking heads speculating about the "Jordan mystique". I would suggest you try to use only Jordan's quotes about the shot and no other sportwriter's though to keep it from becoming speculative. Quadzilla99 19:33, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Just to clarify I misread your post and thought it was Lazenby making the comment obviously. Minor thing, it belongs in the article but it analyzes the Jordan mystique which is a little tricky. I would prefer to keep out of this area for the most part and just stick to a recounting of his career. Maybe even inserting it with the a statement like, "Jordan later commented that he felt this shot was very instrumental in his developemnt," instead of the actual quote. When I first started working on the article it had a lot of junk in there about his mystique and how "he intimidated opponents to sheer petrification" or a long reverant recounting of the shot he hit against Cleveland, etc etc. I'd prefer to stick to a mostly dry retelling of his career and let his accomplishments speak for themselves.
