Tom Peterson says it time for Oregon COTW

Wake up! Wake up to a happy day! Says Tom Peterson. Greetings to the gang at WP:ORE, its time for another round of Collaboration of the Week. Last week was a very successful endeavor with great improvement to Oregon Swallowtail and Deuce Biglow Canyon Wind Farm. OK, so there’s no “e” but it makes me laugh. The Biglow production was so successful we got our first DYK out of it. So, let’s try for a second with the tallest building in the state, the Wells Fargo Center. Then by request we have the former governor (among other things) Neil Goldschmidt. Again, to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts, visit here. USA Portal

Hi, I'm thinking of getting Portal:United States back up to featured status using design elements more like at Portal:Indiana. Any objections or thoughts on what you would like to see? RichardF (talk) 04:41, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Look at the to-do list on the talk page for ideas - I put that together about this time last year. I just didn't have time to work on it much. I tried working on a selected anniversary section, but just couldn't keep it up - it's at Portal:United_States/Anniversaries/All. We can use those to populate the 'on this day' section. — Zaui (talk) 18:52, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I've been going straight to the dates pages for events, births & deaths too. RichardF (talk) 19:46, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Clown COTW

Greetings once again to members of the best encyclopedia online about Oregon (aka WP:ORE)! Last week we improved Neil Goldschmidt to close to GA level, and moved the Wells Fargo Center from Stub to Start for the Collaboration of the Week. This week we’re clowning around with some bozo from Oregon, Pinto Colvig, and then in an attempt to garner another DYK, the rather stubby Cooper Spur. As always, any contribution is appreciated, and to opt out of these messages visit here.

As we have quite a few new members over the last six months, I’ll make another pitch for our various subprojects. Listed here, you will find a variety of groups focused on specific areas of Oregon from transportation to culture. Not only can you sign up and coordinate work there, but each often has useful sources and templates related to that topic. No pressure, just an introduction to those new to the project. Adios. Jon Moore

I dunno. He got disenchanted, and his contributions have tapered off. Honestly, I was the same way about two years ago.

I should really call him. He still lives in the valley. Cool Hand Luke 23:30, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Our weekly COTW message from WPOR

Welcome to another wonderful world of WP:ORE COTW. Thanks again to those who lent a hand improving Pinto Colvig and Cooper Spur ski area this past week or so. This week we return to the High importance Stubs, with the mighty Seal of Oregon and former governor and legal superstar Sylvester Pennoyer. To opt out of these messages, or suggest an article, swing by here. Or to stop receiving any WPORE messages just remove your name from the list of members at WP:ORE. Auf Wiedersehen. P - USA panoramas

If you move the panorams back up, I'll support that. I just promised I wouldn't do it myself. RichardF (talk) 16:37, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I know, I'm just waiting to see if anyone else wants to voice an opinion. — Zaui (talk) 16:42, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed that you had previously commented on the article Steven Kazmierczak into Northern Illinois University shooting. I just thought I would let you know that the discussion has been reopened here here if you wish to provide additional input since the one-week cool down period has expired. Thanks. will381796 (talk) 16:34, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Old Buildings and Pictures

Greetings from WP:WikiProject Oregon. Blah blah blah. This week we have our semi-annual Picture Drive and a article creation drive for the NRHP List. For the picture drive, go take a picture, or find a free use one (lots of links to gov sites above) and upload it Wikipedia. For the National Register of Historic Places, find a red link on the main Oregon list or one of the county lists at start a new article. If its more than just a stub, don’t forget to nominate it for a DYK! Once again, to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Aboutmovies (talk) 20:01, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

March 14 OR COTW

Hello again or welcome if you are new to WP:WikiProject Oregon! Last week we did a picture drive and a NRHP creation drive. It’s hard to track the picture results, but I know I saw quite a few pictures added, so great job. With NRHP we added 7 that I saw: Mitchell Recreation Area, Salem First United Methodist Church, Portland City Hall, Crater Lake Lodge, Central Library (Portland, Oregon), Watchman Lookout Station, and Alvin T. Smith House; with most now nominated for DYK’s! So great work everybody.

This week, its back to stubs with one of the largest newspapers in the state, The Register-Guard, and a request with Oregon Coast. Feel free to help with either one, and the paper article is so short a DYK should be pretty easy to get (just need 5X expansion). As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Aboutmovies (talk) 19:01, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Vera Katz and History

Howdy folks, its time for another installment of WikiProject Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week! Last week we made some improvements to the Oregon Coast and brought The Register-Guard up to B class while garnering a DYK! Great job to those who lent a hand. This week we finish up the High priority Stubs with former mayor and Speaker of the House, Vera Katz, which is pretty much a Start class now and could easily get to B class. We also have History of Oregon by request. Help out if you can, where you can. As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Scott M. Matheson Assessment

I noticed that you assessed the article on Scott M. Matheson as Stub-class for WikiProject Utah despite the fact that the article has been assessed as Start-class by WikiProject Biography, and I was wondering why there is a difference in the two WikiProject assessments. --TommyBoy (talk) 01:16, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

It has two stub templates attached to it. That's why I assessed it as a stub. — Zaui (talk) 04:39, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I have removed the two stub tags in question, something which should have been done when the article was rated Start-class by the user who assessed this article for WikiProject Biography. --TommyBoy (talk) 22:16, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Elected Oregon

Hello fellow WikiProject Oregon folks and entities. Thanks to those who helped out with improving Vera Katz and History of Oregon during the last Collaboration of the Week! As you may have noticed, we have changed the banners a bit, but not our dedication to everything Oregon! This week, in honor of the political process, we have: Current Oregon Senate members & Current Oregon House members. Hopefully by November we can have an article on every current member of the Oregon Legislature. So feel free to turn a red link blue or expand an existing article. Since it is an election year, there should be plenty of newspaper stories. Plus, the state archives has this site that allows you to go back and see when they started serving and district info, plus at a minimum show they were a state legislator from a WP:RS. And per WP:BIO, all state legislator's are notable so no need to worry about AFD. As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Alcohol Rub Article

According to the extensive discussion above there is a WP rule against advertising. Or maybe there is a rule against advertising for just some individuals and/or products. I have added a photo of a typical liquid alcohol rub and a typical foam alcohol rub to the article. I assume this is OK with everyone? I also have no problem with the image of the CVS alcohol gel being prominently displayed (the lead image?) at the top of the article and the liquid and foam alcohol rubs being "stuck" in the gallery where no one will see them. I am assuming no one will object to the removal of the CVS alcohol gel image from the gallery so there is no redundancy? However to be fair, and we must be fair, the Image at the top of the article (the lead image?) should be rotated so that each alcohol rub has it's day? week? month? "moment in the spotlight". I believe this would be the only "fair" thing to do. What is the consensus? I will be more than happy to make certain all of the alcohol rubs get their "moment in the spotlight"JSHibbard (talk) 21:37, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Featured Portal nomination for U.S. portal

Zaui, I finally got over a month's lead time for the 'On this day' section of the U.S. portal! >;-o) What else would you like to see before you re-nominate it for featured portal status? :-) RichardF (talk) 21:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Juxtaposition COTW

Howdy Ho WikiProject Oregon! Time for another installment of Collaboration of the Week. The last few weeks we’ve knocked out quite a few articles of our current state legislators, and even a few former ones too. Great job to all those who helped make it happen. On a related note, we have had several DYKs from this and now have 53 DYKs so far this year (not counting multiples), less than four full months into the year. Last year we had a total of 83 DYKs for the entire year, and 7 combined for 2006 & 2005. So we are well on our way to another record year. Each time an article makes it to the main page as a DYK it will typically get an extra 1000 hits, which is usually far more than the typical 100 hits per month most minor articles receive. With that said, this week we have two requests, Portland Lumberjax and Silicon Forest. As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Aboutmovies (talk) 03:19, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

US Portal Panorama

Hi I saw that you removed the photo I added under the conditions that it was not featured; if the section is for featured panoramas it should be labeled "Featured Panorama" not "Selected Panorama". Panorama 13 is not a featured panorama and is still active. Also in the "Selected Articles" the September 11, 2001 attacks in not featured either. If these two are mistakes they need to be reset also, not just the one I added. --CPacker (talk) 23:34, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

The name of the section is immaterial. The guidelines clearly state "Feel free to add Featured panoramas related to the United States to the above list. Other United States-related panoramas may be nominated here." Panorama 13 is featured - see here - someone just hasn't tagged it yet. We'll have to find a replacement for the September 11 article. — Zaui (talk) 05:00, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Cinco de COTW

Greetings once again from the Collaboration of the Week at WikiProject Oregon. Thank you to those who helped out with the last set of articles. Zzzz Oregon COTW

Howdy ya’ll, time for another Collaboration of the Week from WikiProject Oregon. Last week we improved Flag of Oregon & Detroit Lake, enough I think to move them to Start class, so great job everyone! This week, we have another request in Oregon Ballot Measure 47 and a randomly selected two sentence stub that should be easy to expand enough for a DYK in Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. To opt out of these messages, leave your name here, or click here to make a suggestion. Aboutmovies (talk) 18:54, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

QWERTY: Oregon COTW

Hello WikiProject Oregon participants, time for another edition of Collaboration of the Week. Last week we made some great improvements to Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and Oregon Ballot Measure 47 (1996), with a DYK for the forest. Great job everyone! This week we have another stub, George Lemuel Woods, one of only two governor stubs left, and should be an easy job getting it to Start class. Then, in honor of the long weekend, we have our second State Park Article Creation Drive. Lots of red links to turn blue, lots of opportunities for DYKs. Help if you can, even if it is only adding pictures of state parks. To opt out of these messages, leave your name here, or click here to make a suggestion. May the The Schwartz be with you. X marks the WPOR COTW spot

Guten Tag WikiProject Oregon team members! Great job last week with the Collaboration of the Week, we improved George Lemuel Woods and added eleven new state park articles. This past week we also surpassed the 6000 article mark as a project. The weather may suck, but WPORE is not. For this week we have by request Music of Oregon and Phil Knight. Both need some help, and with Knight we might be able to improve it to GA standards. Once again, to opt out of these messages, leave your name here, or click here to make a suggestion. A is for Apple at COTW

Hello again to those of the WikiProject we call Oregon. Time for another edition of Collaboration of the Week. Last week there was some good improvements to Music of Oregon and Phil Knight, great job everyone. This week, by request is the Applegate Trail, which is short enough to easily conjure up a DYK. Then, I’m trying something a little different, with the Portland State stuff. We included the two high profile schools during Civil War week last year, so now its time for the younger sibling that gets no respect to get some attention. After all, it is the largest college in the state. Feel free to help with whatever aspects you like, though to help with some ideas I added some to the article talk page. Click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Nana na na, hey hey hey, goouud byeeee. Aboutmovies (talk) 08:10, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Fort Atkinson museums

I'm torn. I visited the Hoard museum and National Dairy Shrine and I got some excellent pictures. I'm trying to figure out the scope of an article(s) about it. I can't decide if the 2 museums should be incorporated into one or two articles since they share the same administration and buildings. If they are combined into one article, what name should the article be given? I have started the article in my second sandbox, so check it out if you want to see external links to the official websites. should they You can comment at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Wisconsin#Hoard_Museum_and_National_Dairy_Shrine. Xtra COTW

Greeting once again WikiProject Oregon Folks. Time for another edition of the Collaboration of the Week. First, thank you to those who helped out on the last few COTWs. This week we have the soon to open Westside Express Service, formerly the Washington County Commuter Rail, so lets see if we can get it up to WPORE standards. Then there is a Coordinates Drive to add coordinates to any articles currently missing them, to help increase readership by allowing them to be shown on Google Earth/Maps. Qrazy sale at COTW! Act now! Total liquidation!

Greetings WikiProject Oregon folks, time for another edition of the Collaboration of the Week! Last week we saw some good improvements made to Westside Express Service, while we also worked on a Coordinates Drive. I don’t know how many articles had the coordinates added to, but thanks to those who helped out. This week we have two more requests: William Clark of Lewis & Clark fame and the famed Oregon Bottle Bill. Hopefully we can work both up to B class. Click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Adios. Aboutmovies (talk) 07:00, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Summer Time in the COTW

Hello again to those of the WikiProject Oregon Clan. Time for another new edition of Collaboration of the Week. Last week there was some good improvements to William Clark and the legendary Oregon Bottle Bill, great job to those who helped out. This week, by request is the Owyhee Reservoir, which is short enough to easily conjure up a DYK. Then, also by request is a red link elimination drive on Oregon newspapers. Howdy ya’ll, its WikiProject Oregon Collaboration of the Week time! Thanks to those who helped improve Owyhee Reservoir and start some new Oregon newspaper article, we had four new ones. This week it is time for a Stub Improvement Drive. So select a Stub, any Stub, and try to improve it to at least a Start class.
