Concrete (English is 'fluid')[edit]

I noticed your change to Concrete and thought "yeah... probable... logical, but unfortunately not right". The problem is that the word 'admixture' means both the thing being mixed into something, as well as the act of mixing it into something.

Originally it was

It is then plasticized with admixture of plasticizer and mixed after that with aggregates in conventional mixer.

You figuring it was a typo changed to

It is then plasticized with a mixture of plasticizer and mixed after that with aggregates in conventional mixer.

To change it sort of like you meant, you'd have to write

It is then plasticized by mixing with plasticizer, and mixed after that with aggregates in conventional mixer.

But even more correct could be

It is then plasticized by mixing plasticizer into it, and mixed after that with aggregates in conventional mixer.

Someone came up with a sorta shorthand way of saying this, "A with admixture of B". And it was used here so they _didn't_ have to say 'mix' twice in one sentence. At least not explicitly. (sigh) English! Veritable wars have been fought over small things like the serial comma! Shenme 08:09, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear. It's the attack of the lexicon again. In this case, I'll just leave it alone. Zian 08:12, 25 February 2007 (UTC) Zian[reply]

An article you contributed to maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you[edit]

The article you helped contribute to: BVE Trainsim may be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.

Finding sources which mention the topic of this article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:

Find sources for BVE Trainsim: google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

1. List the page on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
2. At any time, you can ask any administrator to move your article to a special page. (Called userfication)
3. You can request a mentor to help you: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
4. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. These acronyms don't need to intimidate you. Here is a list of acronyms you can use yourself: Deletion debate acronyms, which will help you argue that the article should be kept.

If the page you edited is deleted, you also have many options available. Good luck! Ikip (talk) 00:52, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Problem With My Username On Wikipedia-AN[edit]

I have no idea what http://an.wikipedia.org is and cannot read their language. Unfortunately, an account with my username was created there somehow. Thankfully, I received a notification e-mail that had a familiar enough of a format for me to guess what it says. Since I can't read their language, I can't even leave a message in their Wikipedia embassy. I would like to delete the account in Wikipedia-AN. Zian (talk) 02:20, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's the Aragonese Wikipedia. My advice would be, don't worry about it. I occasionally get Welcome messages in odd languages - actually I have a SUL unified login which means I automatically have accounts on every Wikimedia project, and it gives me no problems. Each Wikipedia is separate, so there is nothing we can do here: you could try leaving a reply message in English, but almost certainly the answer would be the same as we would give here: we don't delete accounts, if you don't want it, just don't use it. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
