Hey Zora. I seem to remember seeing you at some India-related articles before, so I hope this request isn't too off-base. I wonder if you might have a little knowledge in the area of Rajput, and could possibly help me out with that dispute. I protected it after a nasty edit war and a request on WP:RFPP. The talk page is an ugly mess of people talking at people. As you can see on my talk page, some of the editors have been coming to me to argue their content dispute, which I don't have the first idea about, or the time right now (especially with this right now). - Thanks for whatever you can do. I've suggested tht they request mediation as well, but it looks like all the mediators have cases already. POV edits??[edit]
Other than the creation of the ashari page (which previously did not exist!), the current versions of the edits are not POV.
There is one edit on Isha, stating that the best time is up till midnight... there is no difference of opinion among sunni ulema on this point.
There is one edit on Sunni, creating a section for the Athari school of aqeedah which was previously not discussed. At current, there is no mention of what is the "truth"... just an explanation of the Athari school from an unbiased point of view. Also, www.islaam.com and www.islamqa.com were added to give a more wholistic view of Sunni Islam.
There is one edit on Wahabism, stating ibn AbdulWahhab's statement about him following the Hanbali school. Again, this is stating a fact, what AbdulWahhab said... not stating who is or is not on the "truth".
The above edits are not biased... please illustrate how they are, if you feel they are.
The creation of the ashari page might be deemed as biased, however, it does not say whether asharis are right or wrong... (except for the quote of ibn uthaymeen)... it only states their differences with the athari school. If an Ashari or someone knowledgable on ashari aqeeda wants to build on that, by all means they can. However, this page previously did not exist... so some information is better than no information...
Muhammad article ext links[edit]
Hi Zora. User:Reddi wants to make the external link section like the references and give each external links a bibliography. I have tried to tell him that this is not wikipedia article-like and that this will make it hard for the readers to see. Don't know if this is the right place to post a message to you, I'm new on here, but i wanted to take a moment to let you know that I think you're doing a wonderful job at keeping things on an even keel on the Islamic section. When it comes to Islam or any religion, there truly is no NPOV. All we can do is strive for an ANPOV (Almost Neutral Point of View)
As I get more familiar with Wikipedia, Hopefully I can be of some assistance
Graduate School[edit]
Just as a broad question... if someone had a need to apply to graduate school for something international relations based then what exactly should they do? Meaning, I realized I should probably apply somewhere at sometime and take GREs... good fun. gren グレン 23:13, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for your response... I've been busy... I really don't know good teachers from around... I like a few at the University of Delaware but the head of our IR department said I shouldn't go to school here, if you do undergrad here you shoot for better grad. SAIS (Hopkins) graduate program demands hardcore language requirements.... which made me think aobut the Peace Corps in Jordan since the Middle East is my regional choice (although South Asia would be my linguistic choice). Those two grants seem interesting and maybe I should look into it... I don't think I'm the prodigy that you seem to be, but, it's always worth a shot :) As for real life careers I'm just lining up friends to live off of now... but, I don't know... I don't need much money, just a library, computer and a place to live (which is why working as a professor seemed interesting)... I'm sure my wife will be relatively low maintenance, and some less than decadent career would be nice and there's nothing like molding the (relatively) youngs' minds towards social justice needs. So, I suppose I have no idea but if I apply to grad school I need to take GREs really soon, since... yeah... since I only figured out about a week ago that I can graduate by the end of summer. What you say is nice and useful, although not sure it's a good idea to listen to someone online so much :) I have to think about this and decide my life this weekend probably. gren グレン 04:00, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

- Let me put it this way. If I were to offer to review all potential edits from Striver on, say, ALI, ISLAM, SUCCESSION TO MUHAMMAD, QUR'AN, etc., wouldn't that make life easier for everyone? Surely that would make things less troublesome all the way around. It really is an olive branch, I think. Seriously, what else do you think should be on the list? Thank you for your nice words about the Rashidi article, I´m still working a bit on it, but I think I have the main parts (that I can contribute) done. I just learned recently that Madawi Al-R. is a woman! (As you can understand: I´m not too familiar with Arabic/Arabic names) I don´t have A History of Saudi Arabia easily available, nor the Explorers of Arabia from the Renaissance to the End of the Victorian Era (->i.e. not in a library in my town). However, I do have Palgrave, Charles Montagu Doughty, Anne Blunt and Gertrude Bell (among others). I plan, with time, to add a bit more of Palgrave and Doughty, as the articles about them are very slim. ( i.e. there "is great room for improvement", as the expression goes) (The Blunt and Bell -articles are not in such a dire need of improvement). Btw, I much appriciate what I have seen of your work when I have come across it. Keep up the good work! - I´m not familiar with US copyrigh law, but around here I believe it is 70 years after the death of the author. So any author who died before 1935 is fair game.
- I have been looking at the Distributed Proofreaders; I´m afraid I´m completely unfamiliar with them. I have heard about the Gutenberg project, but I have never used it. I´m spoiled: I have 2 quite good librarys close by: the city library + the University library. Both are long established: i.e: many, many nice old books...And now they are both on the net, which means that I can sit at home (or anywhere in the world!) and check if they have a certain book. Firstly: the search engine does not take "close" hits, i.e. you must be exact in your spelling and wording. E.g. I searched for Lane: Manners and Morals etc. and did not find any, however; with Manners and customs etc was differnt... (and I assume that it the one you want). Now for the result:

- Ah, yes, you are a zealot! ;-) ..but I believe zealots for a good cause is a very, very good thing ;-) Anyway: I hope I can get back to you over Christmas if I start on this project? I will probably not use it much here at home (I can borrow Burckhardt, for free, at the library...) However, I travel quite a lot, and after a few weeks/months travel I´m normally deperate for something to read. For my next major travel I had thought of getting an Ipod and load it with "sound-books" (i.e. people (=actors) reading the books). Loading up text-files could also be an idea. - Ah, that leaves Aurel Stein to me, I suppose? ;-) And yes; I have also half ruined myself on abebooks these last few years: a very nice way to get ruined, though... The one thing I´m not that pleased about abebooks is that there seem to be no fixed time when it is updated? The other "black hole" (for my money) on the internet is the Scandinavian version: www.antikvariat.net. It updates at midnight between Sunday/Monday each week (in about 5-10 minutes..) ...we are quite a few book-collectors in Scandinavia who sit around about this time each week frantically reloading.....
