154.160.17.75

Hello, I'm a member of the Wikimedia Ghana user Group and I organize and facilitate workshops in Ghana. On June 12, 2021, WMGHUG organized a workshop in one of the 16 regions in Ghana called Dambai. In the course of the workshop, I noticed that most of the new editors were unable to edit because the IP address was blocked due to vandalism. All 14 editors were new editors so I appeal that the IP should be unblocked. Most of the editors have the zeal to further continue editing after the event but due to the restrictions, they can't. The IP address is 154.160.17.75. Find the event dashboard here. Hope to hear from you soon Robertjamal12 (talk) 16:17, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you blocked Shellhost for socking. Are their last two edits deletable as attacks? If not, are they deletable as not having been placed by an arb or arbcom clerk? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:46, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Redrose64. Yes, they're deleteable for probably many reasons. "G5" would be appropriate, but I'm personally leaning towards just "Pointless". BTW, their co-blocked sock may be of interest to you, if you haven't already seen it. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:34, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lanza

I seem to remember there being a useful banner with instructions on how to rename or confirm the account when blocking. Just in case you too think it should be posted. Also, considering that an LTA is trying to get other editors blocked lately, I found the claim that jps may have tried to contact him very dubious and a red flag... Thanks, —PaleoNeonate – 18:40, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The message they will both see when they try to edit is the contents of {{Uw-ublock-wellknown}}, so I personally think another notice is redundant. They both also have handwritten messages on their talk pages, so they know what's going on. Yes, there's something very wrong somewhere hereabouts. -- zzuuzz (talk) 18:44, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that should be enough then, thanks, —PaleoNeonate – 19:56, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Possible sock puppet

Hi again. I contacted you in February in regards to a sock puppet situation that you took care of. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the editor that you blocked from that case might be editing under the user GoWarriors151718. I think it's the same person because this user edits California-bay area related articles, similar to what their other socks did. GoWarriors151718's registration date was Feb. 27, which was 11 days after the last account that I reported, was blocked. So, the timeline sort of makes sense. Anyway, could you investigate it to see if it is indeed a sock of the original Cool_a123? Yowashi (talk) 04:58, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can see some similarities, and also some differences. I'd go along with your "not 100%". -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:56, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The editor has resumed their block evading behavior under this IP address. This one is legit because it appears that you had blocked them back in February. Yowashi (talk) 02:48, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure if you got my message last time, but can you please do something about this sock puppet? They are currently operating under this IP account and 172.119.122.91. Yowashi (talk) 03:57, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This is because the page (it's a redirect) is actually template-protected, and this was based on a risk assessment at the time. MarquinhosWikipediano and related socks

Hi zzuuzz, I hope you're doing well. Not sure if you've already seen, but the filer of the most recent MarquinhosWikipediano SPI, Curlpercy (talk · contribs) looks a little suspect to me (AC gaming on userpage, immediate run-in with MW, then straight to SPI, plus [2] etc.) – there are too many socks mixed up in this for me to keep track, but I think it might be worth a look. Clarification about no evidence about compromised password

I looked through the edits made by me. There are two acts of vandalism, thats the first edits from this account on english wikipedia. Are those from the same device as the one about me being hacked? (same IP or however its checked) and the rest of the converation? Or was those two from another device? Since there aren't many edits made by me and NONE on the english wiki before this, there will not be much too look at. I acted quickly when I got emails about making first edit and vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobjörk (talkcontribs) 15:56, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The device used to make the 'vandalism' on 8 May is the same device used here, approximately 10 minutes later, here, and everywhere in between, though the vandalism was made from a different network. For various reasons I feel confident that it is actually the same device. The same device (and vandal IP address) was also used to successfully log into the User:Bobjork account, who I assume is also you (correct me if I'm wrong), I assume with a password, which appears to be have been later reset by you, using the device you are currently using. In fact User:Bobjork logged in from both the vandal IP, and your current IP, using the same vandal device, within the same minute. -- zzuuzz (talk) 17:21, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IP Hopping vandal

Hi Zzuuzz. Yesterday you blocked 79.54.93.202 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) who was vandalizing Marxist schools of thought and related pages. Thank you. The same user is now back as 82.60.95.226 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) and repeating the same vandalism. Any chance you could block that IP too? Thanks Laplorfill (talk) 18:00, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Laplorfill (talk) 19:06, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Brescia LTA Ips

Hi. Malcolmx15 has been blocking these IPs when I bring them to his attention, but since you've just got two of them, you might also be interested in blocking 79.54.93.202 and 79.50.117.194. See here for background. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:09, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Beyond My Ken: Thanks, I was wondering. See also the report by Laplorfill just above. Telecom Italia IPs are generally hugely numerous things with short timespans on enormous ranges. If they get re-used, then they become block-interesting. Maybe an edit filter? BTW, for a Tuscan analog see WP:LTA/SBT. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:44, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Both Malcolmxl5 and Acroterion have placed some range blocks, but avoiding collateral damage apparently makes it difficult. Thanks for your help. I have yet to zero in on anything specific which could be the basis for an edit filter. Beyond My Ken (talk) 00:03, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Insult

Hello Zzuuzz, please also block his talk page, insults are not acceptable. Thanks and Regards --Serols (talk) 15:50, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think they just need a TPA-revoked time-out at this point. None of their posts on the talk page have been an unblock request (rather, continued PAs and arguments that are quite a bit NOTTHEM), and if they can somehow be construed as that, then they're clearly not understanding the reasons why they were blocked (nor do they address the likely block evasion). @Materialscientist: You marked the IP as CU-blocked. From behaviour, is the IP == the user? RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 17:54, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. MS does not take pings (as seen on their talk page), and I'm not sure if they watch this page much. Personally, I think you're both being hasty. One solution to insults is to ask them to stop, which they have done, with an apology. Remember that being reverted and blocked when you're not an obvious vandal can be incredibly stressful. If they don't understand the reason for the block and the way forward, then maybe it hasn't always been explained well. Certainly all warnings given to this user were meaningless and irrelevant. All opportunities to discuss the matter ignored. I think a chat about resolving the issue will do them and us both good. -- zzuuzz (talk) 18:31, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know Portuguese but this is clearly a PA, and behaviourally likely the same person, though of course at this point it might be best to just let them cool off and see if they resume when the block expires before giving out further sanctions. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 19:20, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
this was not done by me and it was clearly done by someone who does not speak Portuguese because of some errors. My guess is that was done with some translator to look like I did it using another IP. Who would do that? I have a guess but I can not prove it, so I will not point fingers. Jafdfm (talk) 23:02, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
See range block. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:20, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Given that there's a range block and not an indef on the user, I'm drawing the conclusion that you don't think they're connected? Feel free to correct me if I'm misinterpreting. —C.Fred (talk) 19:31, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for mucking in. The IPv6 range block mentioned above is for an unrelated LTA, VXFC, who is just stalking me, like they do. I'm satisfied with the length of block on the Jafdfm account (who may have had another account), subject to further developments, etc. I don't really don't want to go into other blocks, which you'll have to refer to the blocking admin/cu, unless I do, however I think for now there is no more to be publicly done about that. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:41, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I had a hunch that's what the IPv6 was doing. Sorry you have to deal with such nonsense from them. —C.Fred (talk) 19:49, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Porirua Park/Jerry Collins Stadium

Hi Zzuuzz, I note you were involved in the fixes, moves etc. on these articles, looking via PCC, Porirua Park appears to still exist and is a multi-sport, multi-venue recreation area that contains Jerry Collins Stadium. So, I am thinking both articles needs to exist, be better defined and re-written to present day, with a small history section if needed. I can also find no references to "JC Park", seems an anomaly? Hello, lately there has been activity from the Chuck/Sneed LTA. They created these two accounts:

Now, I see this account (not blocked yet)

As this LTA makes often makes sleepers to bypass auto-confirmed protection, I request a CheckUser to see if there are more sleeper accounts. Is it possible? aeschylus (talk) 00:27, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done, but CU is not going to be particularly effective at picking up sleepers. -- zzuuzz (talk) 11:04, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Zzuuzz, what makes CU ineffective for this case? aeschylus (talk) 12:05, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Don't get me wrong, CU has some use, but it's a proxy-hopper, so there's no calculating the scope of potential IPs. -- zzuuzz (talk) 13:59, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

checkuser blocks

Hey, Zzuzz! If an account has been checkuser blocked, does that mean I should be able to find an SPI? —valereee (talk) 14:56, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) Not always. If the Checkuser made the block on his own initiative, and not as a result of a SPI, there isn't always a pro-forma SPI filing. Also in the case of a CU block for logged out editing, in almost all cases there will be no SPI.--Eostrix  (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 14:59, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Eostrix! I —valereee (talk) 15:34, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Valereee: what Eostrix said. CU blocks can be made for various reasons, including being a sockmaster, being a sockpuppet, and a number of non-public issues (especially, but not always, related to IP addresses). Sometimes checkusers are highly secretive, other times such as with LTA socks they can be just lazy^W - not lazy, just unenthused about drawing attention. The most straightforward thing if you're hugely curious is probably to ask the checkuser, and probably by email, though as Eostrix reminds us they may not always be forthcoming. I would say in general that the more obvious the block, the higher the chances that a checkuser will tell colleagues something about it if asked, and vice versa. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:33, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, zzuzz! I thought about emailing but decided it was really just curiosity about generally how it works and didn't need to be specific and private. :D —valereee (talk) 16:41, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

LTA?

Is User:さかおりいづみ富山ウイルス an LTA? aeschylus (talk) 14:50, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's a reasonable question. It's the same user as 世界の原拓也 and 健ちゃんパトロール and TMIZSKOR, and probably others in the page history. Some think this is WP:LTA/KAGE, but checkusers, including me, don't think so. Materialscientist might know more about it if you're interested. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:05, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WTF?

You CU-blocked NASCARfan0548. Are you allowed to tell me what he was doing logged out? Someone with a different username in 2018 created an extremely short article the exact same way that NASCARfan0548 did. He later vandalized with the same account. Is this the account that made you catch him? I have forgotten the name of the article. Scorpions13256 (talk) 21:50, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'm sorry but policy prevents me from saying just about anything about this block. All I can do is point to this part of policy, and say you're welcome to ask any other CU whether it's justified. Maybe their final edit on their talk page already provides that answer. If you remember the other account I may (or may not) be able to offer an opinion about it, but for now you haven't given me much to work with. -- zzuuzz (talk) 02:48, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this diff

Hi Zzuuzz, is there anything else that should be done about this? --Ashleyyoursmile (talk) 14:11, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Be my guest, as further action won't do any harm. I think there's a few more like that in the recent histories. -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:17, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

LTA?

I noticed this account was blocked through CheckUser. This account is very similar. Figured to run it by you as you did the original block. – The Grid (talk) 00:09, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gah, this one is always so messy. I'd usually try to offer up a name, but I'm not sure I have one yet. Here's a sample, and another. I'll probably try and write up an SPI for this one. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:43, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not even following those people, but I know those people from watching Android-related pages! haha – The Grid (talk) 21:24, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sock investigation

He'll admin, hope you are doing well! I was suspected as the sock of phoenix man, and a check user has completed a check on relevant users 23 days ago. He also requested an administrator to close the case. But till now it's not closed. Kindly please help.. Thank you --Nakshathra Nair (talk) 05:20, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

윤하 (1988년)

Is User:윤하 (1988년) a sock of someone? My instinct said that it was, based on Tokyo Metro 6000 and other masters. aeschylus (talk) 13:20, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) aeschylus - They're certainly one of 지아 (1986년) (talk · contribs), who I remember did the same TP abuse after being blocked, but there's probably an older master. Pahunkat (talk) 14:01, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's some older ones, like here. Unofficially, this appears to be User:대우건설. -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:07, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think ...

that אברהסה בו is Jack90s15? --Bbb23 (talk) 11:46, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You'll like this answer: Yes, and also their friend. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:07, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, are you going to do the honors? --Bbb23 (talk) 12:11, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm free again in about 20 minutes, at which point it will be a priority. Until then they're fair game. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:14, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I blocked the one I spotted, and you can have the other. I tagged "mine", which probably conflicts with your view, but I prefer tagging socks who have been blocked outside of SPI, and to some extent my entire view on tagging has undergone a change from the way it used to be, although I suspect I'm in a minority. Thanks for your help.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:24, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's another: XFO-12. I'll grab that one, the other one, and any more (Mr.Jakub from prague has already gone). Sometimes with some sockers and some circumstances tags can indeed be useful, and for various reasons I would have tagged these anyway. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:35, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I mentioned the tagging because you didn't tag Curlpercy.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:40, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's probably only because a sock asked me to (or laziness, I can't be bothered to remember which). Thelostone41 has also fallen. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:47, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ferkingstad

Hello Zzuuzz, could I have a second pair of eyes on Ferkingstad (talk · contribs) (specifically what's happening at User talk:Ferkingstad#Your nominations for deletion). I'm not quite sure what to think. Pahunkat (talk) 14:35, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, strange. -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:47, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

LTA

Is User:Larry Sanger says that this website is an embarrassment an LTA? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aeschylus (talkcontribs) 23:01, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

By most definitions I don't think so, although this is not their first account, and they are a bit sad like some of them. Like they think they can influence national vaccination policies or something by spamming here. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:46, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Zzuuzz, is an LTA defined as someone that is vandalizing for their amusement like an internet troll? aeschylus (talk) 21:26, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's just semantics. Definitions and standards may vary, and someone who's been an admin since 2007 will have their own. Expect this muppet to be called any number of things. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:58, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global lock

See Special:contributions/Daniel Muokebe. When I click on "global account details", it doesn't show the steward who did the glock. Why?--Bbb23 (talk) 13:29, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good question. I can point to an account where this info is still visible, Special:Contributions/Sanford_Boroff, so I don't think anything has changed in the interface. My only guess is that someone has deleted or suppressed the log, either accidentally or not. Only a steward could probably tell you. A steward blocked them on meta so that's where I'd start. -- zzuuzz (talk) 13:53, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) The user in question was renamed after being locked. I'm sure this is one of those issues with a lingering phab task... :') ~TNT (she/they • talk) 13:56, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
..or a former steward :) I checked a few things but forgot to check the local talk page history (duh!). -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
TNT's explanation seems plausible to me. Is there "a lingering phab task"? If not, there should be. BTW, the Talk page history is astonishing; didn't anyone notice that the blocked user blithely created a new account (ClarenceRSB‎)? Now blocked and really should be glocked, actually, like the master account.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:21, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CU

This user is suspicious as every recent username referring to this is an LTA. Is this account also an LTA? aeschylus (talk) 23:19, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

... is at it again. Can you have a look at 46.36.32.0/19 and see if a longer block ("co-location webhost") is warranted? Feel free to chck my CU log for others. Thanks. Drmies (talk) 19:49, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Imposter is using my wiki edit history to further his deception.

Hi Larryvnash. Wikipedia accounts can't be deleted, since Wikipedia works by attributing all content to somebody. However, if you're having problems of the type you describe, you may wish to consider changing username. Also take a look at this page. -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:27, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SheryOfficial

Appreciate your good work at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SheryOfficial.

Earlier, I had filed one SPI there,[12] which was declined by a clerk who nevertheless thought that the suspected sock (Abdulhaseebatd) could be a sock of someone which would mean that we are still yet to find out who's sock this would be.

But why a new account would be recreating content that was created by Sheryofficial in violation of COI?

Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks. Editorkamran (talk) 04:08, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That did catch my eye, and appeared unrelated. These articles seem to be YouTubers with a few million subscribers each, which is enough to fall into the ballpark of random people creating articles. I think I'd need more information. -- zzuuzz (talk) 06:15, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another suspicious account

Favaroon. I know the usernames aren't that similar, but every time I look at it, I think of Favonian.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:57, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

He now sort of says he's Hayleez.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:00, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's true, and you can judge the statement and behaviour of the accounts for yourself. No LTA. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:03, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
From what I can tell, both accounts have been disruptive in similar ways. But the master account wasn't blocked when he "retired". There's a certain amount of deception going on, although after lying at first, he came clean. I sometimes get in trouble by blocking serial accounts. Any thoughts, or am I on my own? :-) --Bbb23 (talk) 20:09, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I might as well ping Liz. My current position is that this is borderline, not the worst policy violation ever but falling in the warning category, and a change of behaviour is expected. I'm not blocking, but I don't want to see any more of others wasting their time cleaning up bad deletion proposals. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:15, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of anything else, the user needs to declare the connection between the two accounts.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:17, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Some forthcoming would be a bonus, but I'm personally not going to insist on it. A Wikipedia:Clean start would have been a reasonable description, if the problematic behaviour doesn't continue. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:24, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A cleanstart has pretty much been blown, but even if I hadn't questioned him, how can any reasonable editor expect that a new account tagging a raft of pages as G5 wouldn't be a red flag?--Bbb23 (talk) 20:30, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It certainly was a red flag, and I'd expect it to stop forthwith (or failing that, to be stopped). I can head over there and lay down some law, if you like, although I know both you and Liz are capable of doing that. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:42, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Return of editor who attacks me with homophobic slurs

Following up on this section, I'm getting similar edits from 23.122.183.49 (talk · contribs). I believe this to be the same person who was from our previous discussion (here: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1075).
