Dweller's statement[edit]

The Deletion policies are Byzantine and difficult to understand for a newbie.

Many-a-newcomer's first article ends in deletion and this can be discouraging. What makes it more frustrating is that the policies are complex and scattered among various pages.

Some questions we could usefully address:

  • What can we do to simplify, or summarise the policies?
  • What gaps and overlaps are there?
  • Is there a problem with improper use of speedy deletion by taggers and admins?
  • Is the PROD process open to inappropriate interference by POINTy inclusionists?
  • Do we need new speedy criteria to cover items and issues currently excluded?
  • Should we ask the developers to hardwire appropriate notifications to usertalk pages into the delete button?
  • How can we make deletion less painful for goodfaith newbie contributors?
  • Should the DRV processes be amended?
  • Is AfD broken?

That's a start. --Dweller (talk) 12:44, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
