  • I don't think it needs it - it is an extremely long article and is probably close to GA status already. -- Chuq 00:05, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think this is better left with a local WikiProject. It has been a FA candidate in the past. It has a well established to-do list. I don't think it being the ACOTF would benefit this article.Garrie 11:08, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Article could easily be attended to by the already large WikiProject Sydney. Garrie 11:05, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  2. Scott Davis Talk 12:20, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments:

  • Although I don't know anything about maritime history in Australia and wouldn't be helpful in editing this, and we do have articles on each of the two ships (and a short but unreferenced bit in the HMAS Voyager (D04) article on the collision), we don't have a an article at all on one of Australia's biggest peacetime military disasters, which should be included in WP. JROBBO 02:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've linked the two ships - do we want another article on the collision, or put it in the Voyager, which sank as a result of the collision, and has little other info in the article? --Scott Davis Talk 21:56, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Support:

  1. Andjam 23:55, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments:

  • Currently the de facto article about Nalliah and Daniel Scot's case with Victoria's Racial and Religious Tolerance Act. One of the most significant cases about the limits of free speech since Albert Langer's case. Also, improving this article will probably decrease the amount of editing of the article by his supporters and detractors. Andjam 23:55, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments:

  • My girlfriend asked me to nominate Australian literature as she (being a doctor of this type of thing) feels that it is woefully inadequate. The article needs help of people to flesh out the different genres: SF, History, Crime etc. My girl will work on the 20 century contempory fiction (Patrick White received just a passing mention before). And if you didn't know even the ABC has picked up on this (by way of another blog)[1]. Nomadtales 09:47, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Seeing I have inhabited the talk page at different stages - I was really disappointed such a poor article about the subject should last so long untouched - lets hope some imagination, hard work and humour ingests this article with some new life!SatuSuro 13:23, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This article was dire when I started here, and it's dire still almost three years later. Considering the success of Australian wine as ACOTF, I figure it has a reasonable chance of improvement.--cj | talk 01:50, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • When reading some of the other national cuisine articles (themselves rather mouth-watering!), the shortcomings of the Australian cuisine entry are obvious. It's a hodge-podge of thoughts with no clear focus or direction. WWGB 23:33, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • That wouldn't happen to be because Australian cuisine as an idea is "a hodge-podge of thoughts with no clear focus or direction"? I love to eat and ready glossy magazines and books ...but I would find it really hard to get my head around this issue.--Golden Wattle talk 23:44, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, it needs something but what that is I'm not too sure.Garrie 05:28, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soldier settlement (Australia)[edit]

  4. Scott Davis Talk 13:05, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments: Given the enormous influence of Soldier Settlement schemes in every State of Australia after both World War 1 and World War 2, and the attempt by those 10's of 1000's of families to deal with the climate of Australia through the adventurous use of irrigation - I found it somewhat unusual that no such article existed. Have started article today. I hope that is proper for me to suggest - if this article is supported that it be the collaboration of the fortnight for the period that contains Anzac Day 2007? --VS talk...images 01:55, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would a better name be Soldier Settlement in Australia? That would be consistent with other "... in Australia" articles.Mattinbgn/ talk 07:56, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I will be happy to adjust the name if the consensus leans that way. I picked the style of the current name because there was something on the topic called Soldier Settlement Board which deals with a similar program in Canada. --VS talk 08:53, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Australian federal general elections[edit]

Nominated on 13 March 2007; needs 4 votes by 10 April 2007 to remain listed.

Support:

  1. Brisvegas 11:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  2. JRG 11:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments:

  • Currently not all elections are listed on the encyclopaedia. Although expanding coverage is undoubtedly a mammoth task, one aspect that could be rapidly addressed is the consistency of formats between articles. Compare the articles from Australian federal election, 1972 onwards (which use a smaller Federal election major party leaders infobox) to the ones for 1901, 1903 and 1906, which use coloured boxes side by side. To be honest I like both formats, but we'll need to use just one for consistency. Hopefully more work can be done to expand coverage of the elections throughout Australian history. Brisvegas 11:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • This would be better written as a list with a lengthy headnote, with the result of the election and some other details. JRG 11:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments:

  • I suspect the article should be renamed. I think it also needs to deal with nuclear energy. There are many more gaps however. The issue of nuclear power, alternative fuels, ownership of energy production, the Snowy Mountains scheme and ownership all need better treatment.--Golden Wattle talk 20:23, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • A topic that should be of great interest towards the end of the year.--cj | talk 23:18, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This article has been vandalised to the extent that Admins have now reverted it to a line stub and it has been placed on semi-protect. As its the biography of the author of the book Shantaram (novel), which is being made into a major motion picture starring Brad Pitt later this year Shantaram (film), it will get many viewings. The article needs to be recreated once again with properly sourced material.

  • Surprisingly, this article about a major telecommunications company in Australia didn't even exist before today. It's currently a sad little stub that could use a lot of expansion in every way possible; it also needs some third-party references.
