Wikipedia:Guerrilla Mediation Network/Process

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

How it works: The template adds pages to a category, Category:GMN. Mediators can simply browse this category to find a new case, or can just mediate cases they stumble across; coordinators also browse through this category, and check up on how the cases are progressing. Mediators just browse the category of cases and pick cases they wish to take; in some circumstances one of the coordinators will get a particular person to handle a case.

If you'd like to be a mediator: let one of the maintainers listed on this page know, and they'll talk to you about how to do so. Approval is required prior to mediating. Thank you so much!

Design methodology: The system has deliberately been kept as simple as possible, to avoid process-related problems encountered with previous initiatives (such as Wikipedia:Mediation Committee and Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal) and to increase the efficiency of handling mediation requests. The "guerrilla" term in the title of this initiative refers to the process used in guerrilla warfare, which is the basic strategy on which this system was formed. Rather than operating with a "front line" requests page, unlike the other mediation initiatives on Wikipedia, individual mediators work flexibly on cases whilst keeping the dispute localised to the area in which it has arisen.
