  • It's only because of two facts occurring together: (a) Your IP connection is slow (b) You don't have "Automatic Image Resizing" checked in the multimedia settings (in older versions, it would be equivalent to 'unchecking' the option of "open the website only after downloading all images"). Go to Tools->Options->Advanced->Multimedia and check all the boxes under Multimedia. If your IP is very slow, you could actively consider either 'unchecking' the box under Multimedia which mentions, 'Download images'. It's not just with Colorado. Some other articles also face a similar fate in IE. If you've attempted low level programming, you'll be able to understand that while IE is perchance the safest browser, the add ons it carries as baggage enforces delay lags that create such occasional situations. The corollary is that Chrome, while fast, might not qualify on some browsing safety features. There are low level fixes we could send to you to fix IE. Growlers are mentioned in the Beer bottle article ...that is listed in Category:Beer vessels and serving...Moxy (talk) 15:17, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Categories are only for Wikipedia articles and Growler (bottle) doesn't have its own article (Growler is a disambiguation page), so it cannot be added to a category. See more at Help:Category. It would be technically possible to create a redirect from Growler (bottle) to Beer bottle#Growler and then add the redirect to Category:Beer vessels and serving, but it would not be appropriate categorization when the target article of the redirect is already there. When does a correct-the-following banner disappear?[edit]

Hello. A banner was placed at the beginning of the reference section of an article I helped edit. It encouraged making changes to several entries so that they would follow more closely the Wikipedia style guide. These changes were made a couple of months ago but the banner still sits there. Do I have to request that it be suppressed or is it done automatically every, say, six months?. Thanks. Article history separated from moved article[edit]

The article Methodist was recently moved from Methodism, but the person who moved it did so in a way that kept the history of both the article and the talk page at Methodism. Is there any way to move the history to the new article? Ltwin (talk) 17:16, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've listed this at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen - I think the article was"moved" by cut and paste, which is a repairable problem. --AndrewHowse (talk) 19:05, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've undone the copy/paste "move". If such a move is to be made, it needs to be brought to WP:RM and gain consensus, which I doubt will be forthcoming in this case, as we don't normally use adjectives as article titles—cf. Catholicism. I see that the editor who did this botched move also has done the same thing at Presbyterianism and perhaps elsewhere, so I'll go deal with those now and warn the editor. Deor (talk) 19:14, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There might be a bit of history merging to be done, so don't be surprised if an admin comes along from the bullpen. I've no idea if the edits after the first cut and paste are more than trivial, but the letter of the GFDL requires that we maintain a record of who did what. --AndrewHowse (talk) 19:28, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've handled most of the problem, but I need a passing admin to move Talk:Methodist/Archive 1 back to Talk:Methodism/Archive 1 over the redirect. (If one doesn't do so soon, I'll take the matter to WP:RM as an uncontroversial move.) The edits made to Talk:Methodist are in the history of the redirect that's now there. I've reverted the edits to the Methodism/Methodist articles that were made after the "move", but they're still in the respective histories. Deor (talk) 19:51, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page Deletion Question[edit]

Hi all, on July 31 the Page "Barb Higgins" was deleted for the reason (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content), when I looked into the history the explanation left was: "Mayoral candidates and local news anchors are not automatically notable just because they exist." This page refers to the frontrunner in a mayoralty election in the province's largest city (http://www.globaltvcalgary.com/Calgarians+putting+their+support+behind+upcoming+Civic+Election/3337533/story.html). My opinion would be that this would be sufficient for notability based on all the guidelines I have read. Additionally, as the Mayoral election approaches voters will be looking to Wikipedia for information on the candidates, and many of the others have active pages. Also, if she wins, which appears likely, I would think Wikipedia should have a well developed municipal politics page on her, and using the 80 days between now and the election to allow users to improve that page seems to also be within guidelines. Can anyone provide a perspective on this to help me understand? Lola60311 (talk) 17:33, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The deletion stated that the ARTICLE did not state why the person was notable. It did not state that the person is not notable. It is a common mistake to make a page about something and forget to explicitly state why it is notable. -- kainaw 17:36, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. How can I retrieve the work done on the page, address the notability question and bring it back from deletion? Lola60311 (talk) 17:41, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did you add the image link at the very beginning of the text? --AndrewHowse (talk) 14:00, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at every edit in the page history and didn't find an attempt to add a picture outside the infoboxes. Anyway, two infoboxes below eachother is unusual and I wouldn't be suprised if it influenced the placement of other elements. Does it really matter? PrimeHunter (talk) 10:52, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I didn't try to add it, because when I checked the preview I saw a problem, and why would I add something that isn't placed correctly? And yes, it does matter. It's not like I can't only add that picture, that problem exists with every picture. Two infoboxes together is unusual, but when it's about the Wright brothers then there's no choice. (outdent) Thanks. The English Wikipedia has {{Fix bunching}} which fixed the problem while I previewed tests with two infoboxes here by placing {{Fix bunching|beg}} before the first infobox, {{Fix bunching|mid}} between them and {{Fix bunching|end}} after the second. I don't know Estonian and {{Fix bunching}} does not have an interlanguage link to Estonian. I copied the source to et:Kasutaja:PrimeHunter/Sandbox and previewed et:Vennad Wrightid with {{Kasutaja:PrimeHunter/Sandbox|beg}} and so on as described above. This solved the problem.
