There are a few options, providing that he passes the notability guideline. Seeing as you have a Conflict of interest, an article can be requested at WP:REQ. When starting an article you can use WP:AFC. Jarkeld (talk) 15:56, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Searching in category an subcategories[edit]

I've been trying to search for late female Swedish engineers (I know it's a funny thing to search for) that is to find the intersection between the categories Dead people, Swedish engineers and Women. However, I realized that the incategory modifier won't search within subcategories, which made my search a whole lot more difficult to carry out. The OP will probably not have much success in this search even using CategoryIntersect. Articles about individual women should not include the category Category:Women, because it is simply far too broad; I would recommend removing that category and only searching Swedish engineers and Dead people, then identifying women by their given names. Unfortunately we do not have an article on Swedish given names that could be relevant. Intelligentsium 03:24, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Try going to http://toolserver.org/~magnus/catscan_rewrite.php and entering Swedish engineers in the "Categories" box, and Living people in the "Negative categories" box. This searches for Category:Swedish engineers and all its subcategories down to sub-sub-sub-categories (though I don't think it has any beyond sub-categories), and excludes anyone categorised as living; this seems simpler than searching the entire tree below Category:Deaths by year, and is probably more reliable, too. It doesn't limit to women but I guess the 54 results returned aren't too many to check manually. You might also want to check related categories such as Category:Swedish inventors. Adrian J. File extension does not match MIME type.[edit]

I keep getting this error message "File extension does not match MIME type." when I try to upload a new image. The images I'm tyring to upload are all below 100 MB and in .JPG file format. Can you explain to me what to do in simple terms? Thanks in advance! Ithundir (talk) 21:00, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A few possibilities spring to mind. Are you uploading a new image or uploading a new version of an existing image title? If the latter, the old image needs to have the .jpg extension in its name already or the upload will fail. Are you sure the image is actually in jpg format? It's not just a name but an actual format (you may say "duh!" but I've seen this before), so if the image is actually a png, for example, and you only renamed it to have jpg as the extension without actually saving it to that format, the error message you are getting is actually correct. Also, sometimes images you grab from the internet actually have wrong file extensions already attached so it might have originally said it was a jpg, but never was. An easy way to check the actual format is to open the image with paint.net, GIMP or whatever image program you have, and then try saving as; the actual file format is normally selected for you. In any event, try resaving as a jpg. At Commons I read a post indicating that when this error message is a false positive, editing the image--resizing it slightly for example--will sometimes fix the software's misidentification of the file type.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:09, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You could mention this deficiency of the documentation on Template talk:Infobox writer. The documentation for those two fields is inadequate. Ideally, the documentation should give at least one example of a properly filled-out template. You could also:

Look at Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Infobox writer for usage examples in articles. In particular, look for featured articles that use the template, as these articles will have received much scrutiny and are most likely to reflect proper usage.
Look through the history of the template documentation to see who wrote the unclear description of the two fields. Ask that editor on his or her talk page to explain what he or she had in mind.
{{Infobox writer}} might be an adaptation of the more general {{Infobox person}}. The education and alma_mater fields might have come from {{Infobox person}}. Therefore, the place to clarify the ambiguity would be on {{Infobox person}}, then track down all templates adapted from it which inherited the same ambiguity, and fix their inherited documentation too. You might need to track down the original source of these fields and ask the originating person what he or she meant by them. (It would be nice if the later users who apparently just copy things without thinking much about them would resolve these questions at the time, instead of propagating the ambiguity.)

If you cannot determine the actual difference between the two fields, then just use one field and ignore the other. The world will probably not come to an end over this.
