Wrong picture in the Adelaide Anne Procter Article

Media Corp International message

Hi there,

I recently set up our company Wiki page but I just got a message from MadmanBot re our content. The message said that the same text can be found on our LinekdIn company page. That is correct. But, we are the same company as that LinekdIn page. Can we not use the same text?

Can you use the same text? No, because regardless of copyright issues (the reason the bot posted the message), Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a platform for posting puffery. If your company meets the relevant notability guidelines, as demonstrated by coverage in third party reliable sources, it is possible that a properly-worded and neutral encyclopaedic article on your organisation might be merited - but see also our policy on conflict of interest. Though it will of course be 'our' article, not 'yours', and open to anyone to edit. And note that per the Wikipedia:Username policy we do not permit user names which represent, or purport to represent, organisations or groups of people - only individuals are permitted to register accounts. If you wish to contribute encyclopaedic content to Wikipedia, you will have to register under another name. AndyTheGrump (talk) 00:55, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

How to Import Footnotes from MS Word?

I would like to copy/paste some text I typed in Word that has footnotes. Is there any way to have an automatic conversion to ref tags? How long is the article and how many footnotes (and how did you do your footnotes in MS?)

in a normal starting length article, creating the draft in your sandbox and cutting and pasting even a dozen references would not be that difficult (note that you do not have to use the citation tool/template- if your footnotes have all the appropriate info, the info can just be placed in between the ref tags.) -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:59, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

I will be importing a couple hundred footnotes over several articles. The footnotes are all standard MSWord footnotes. If there is an automated tool, I don't know of it. There is more than one way to do footnotes in MSWord, by the way. However, you might look at list-directed references. Those might be a bit easier to convert, since the main citation details stay in a separate list. DES ^(talk) 16:40, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Zotero (the standalone version) can be integrated into Word. It can also output bibliographies in the format of cite templates. (It can also output in many other styles, but it is plain text, no italics, boldface, etc., so if you wanted to use it in Wikipedia you would have to add that by hand). However, the Word integration requires the Java runtime, and I'm not willing to install that for security reasons. Thus, I have not experimented with this capability. Change of title

Hi,

I want to change the name of a page title. The page for University for Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle" needs to be changed to University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle". I tried to changed it but did not succeeded. Can you tell me how to do it?

I have moved the page (changing "for" to "of"), it does still seem like an odd page title though, with the quotation marks, but I see that is what the website uses. --kelapstick^(bainuu) 08:52, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

I see that its logo also uses the name "Ohrid University". I wonder what people normally call it. For article titles, the ordinarily used name is preferred to the full formal name, e.g. "United States" rather than "United States of America". Maproom (talk) 09:36, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

How to recreate my article, which was deleted?

My article about company was deleted inspite of that it doesn't contain any ads, spam and etc. It contains only facts about the company. I found that it's very unfairly, because the article was here duuring 1 year or more and now I can't make a new one because I didn't save any copy to reserve the text. What should I do?

As the wording of the previous text was obviously not acceptable, anyone writing a new draft should start from square one and base it on information on the company published in independent reliable sources (if there is any such information, & if not there should be no article). Potentially Politics_in_the_United_Kingdom#Political_parties which accords prominence to parties based on the (not obviously silly) distinction between parties that have returned MPs and those that have not. Alternatively Next United Kingdom general election, where the relegation of UKIP to fourth place is more subtle, but again, not wholly objectionable given the historical parallels. - Jarry1250 ^{[Vacation needed]} 12:05, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

The article has only recently been created, & the search engine index can take up to 24 hours to update, see Help:Searching#Delay in updating the search index. I see that the article Cenk Aydin does not have any properly formatted references to support specific statements in the article, so please read WP:Referencing for beginners. - David Biddulph (talk)13:10, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

@TonyTheTiger: I don't know if this'll help, but stats.wikimedia.org gives 14k as the official article count for the month of November 2001, while WP:Size of Wikipedia - 2001 archived data gives 16000+ articles for November 6, 2001. benzband (talk) 16:44, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

changing the main content at the top of the page Richard Serra

I have submitted the correction regarding the year of Richard Serra's birth - which is, correctly, 1938 - and that change appears in the box (with an image) on the right side of his Wiki page. However, the content at the very top has remained unchanged, as below:

Richard Serra (born November 2, 1939) is an American minimalist sculptor and video artist known for working with large-scale assemblies of sheet metal. Serra was involved in the Process Art Movement. He lives and works in Tribeca, New York, and on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.

How can this please be changed?

Any picture published in 1912 is now out of copyright in the US and most if not all other countries, so the picture is fine in that regard. The article could use a rewrite and some additional sources, but I see no problem with it as a start. DES ^(talk) 20:34, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Asymmetrical warfare / definition

The article provides a sample definition as follows:

The term is frequently used to describe what is also called "guerrilla warfare", "insurgency", "terrorism", "counterinsurgency", and "counterterrorism", essentially violent conflict between a formal military and an informal, less equipped and supported, undermanned but resilient opponent.

In the context of recent history, the above definition is most clearly exemplified by the lethal effectiveness of a relatively untrained/uneducated warrior who defeated a much more sophisticated and expensive/warrior array by use of a relatively inexpensive and simple weapon. If you have been using ref tags, as it seems may be the case, simply delete the <ref> tag, the matching </ref> tag, and everything in between, and the footnote will be gone. If you indicate the article or page you are working on, and what you are trying to do, someone could give more specific help. DES ^(talk) 22:40, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

The requirements for an article are that third party, reliably published sources have considered the subject worthy of covering in a significant manner.

As someone closely related to the subject you should not create or directly edit it.
