shutdown the PARED Foundation reference[edit]

Hi,

Please shut down the PARED Foundation page (Parents for Education)

There are people who are contributing to this page that are clearly giving incomplete and misleading information. On behalf of PARED Foundation, I am requesting Wikipedia to close down the PARED Foundation page as contributions to this page clearly comes from some parties that are bent on giving it a bad name.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bingonzaga (talkcontribs) 01:58, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bingonzaga, as long as the content is supported by reliable sources, it will be retained even if negative. The subject of the article has no special rights to have it deleted. If you can point out specific inaccurate satements, please do so on Talk:Parents for Education. As an employee or representative of PARED, you have a conflict of intreest and should not edit the page directly. DES (talk) 04:29, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed some content that was not supported by reliable sources. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:12, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on Wikipedia TR[edit]

I'm researching, reading encyclopedic books about Islamic caliphs (known as Amir al-Mu'minin) and posting on Wikipedia. But this user: Fenerli1978 is always deleting my researches those are encyclopedic. With sharing my sources too (book name, page, ISBN). And he doesn't respond my massages. What's the problem with wikipedia? Is it easy to give rights to a user to delete others hard work for no reason? I need an explanation. And someone has changed your TR contact page. Scarfacethe (talk) 04:05, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Scarfacethe: This is the English language Wikipedia and we have no influence over the Turkish Wikipedia. All the different Wikipedias are run independently with their own rules and guidelines. You'll have to take your disagreement back to the Turkish Wikipedia. Dismas|(talk) 04:15, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding an image[edit]

I have a published biographical article on a living person and would now like to add an image of that person to the article.

I have read up on the licensing requirements for Wikipedia images. As none of the images identified by a Google search seemed to meet the criteria, I intend to contact the subject of the article requesting a photo for this specific purpose.

If the subject provides me with a photo in response to my request, am I free to then upload the image to Wikipedia and add it to the article? Should I word my request to the subject in a particular way to meet Wikipedia's criteria?

Appreciate your help Kimb273 (talk) 04:49, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It depends who owns the copyright in the photo – this is likely to be the person who operated the camera. You will need to persuade that person to go through the bureaucracy of a copyright release. Maproom (talk) 09:06, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Donating copyright materials. The copyright owner will need to agree to license the picture for any use, commercial or not, requiring only attribution. --ColinFine (talk) 09:44, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jainsuchita7. There is a 'Help' link in the sidebar.
Please read Your first article; and if you decide to go ahead an create an article, use the article wizard to create it in Draft space. Your user page is not the appropriate place to create an article. --ColinFine (talk) 09:48, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Draft appears to be at Draft:Fiona Kotur.--ukexpat (talk) 12:39, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

setting up a small company profile[edit]

Hi, Does anyone have any tips on how to set up a company history/profile on here, if you are not a publicly listed company? We are less than 100 people, Australian based and do not have a lot of external links to us. Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.153.230.74 (talk) 06:56, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Does the company meet the notability requirements of WP:CORP? Dismas|(talk) 06:58, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, IP user. Wikipedia does not host profiles, as it is neither a directory nor a marketing portal. It is an encyclopaedia, and contains articles which are based entirely on what independent sources have written about a subject. Unless there are substantial independent articles about your company, then your company is not at present a suitable topic for a Wikipedia article (the jargon for this is "not notable"). If it does meet the criteria for notability then we may have an article, but you are discouraged from writing it because of your conflict of interest. Sorry--ColinFine (talk) 09:52, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please check ref. number 25 on above page - I think I got the dates wrong Thanks again M110.142.106.73 (talk) 07:08, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done Again, you needed a pipe | character and to take the "th" off the date. Dismas|(talk) 07:43, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I also changed the date to 16 December, as that was the creation date given on the article, rather than 13 December. ~ RobTalk 07:47, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please check ref. number 73 on above page - I think I got the dates wrong Thanks again M101.182.221.219 (talk) 09:23, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As so many times in the past, there is an error message, with a "help" link in blue, indicating that it is a wikilink, in this case to Help:CS1 errors#bad date. --David Biddulph (talk) 09:29, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
... and that in turn links to Wikipedia:BADDATEFORMAT#Unacceptable date formats. --David Biddulph (talk) 09:32, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Family of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge - additional request[edit]

Could you help me please - in the Parents section on the above page there is a link "Lady Bullock (nee Barbara Lupton)... can this link please go to the 20th Century section straightaway on the Lupton family page which discusses Lady Bullock - rather than to the top of the Lupton page as it does at the moment? I really don't know how to do this. thanks yet again M101.182.221.219 (talk) 09:46, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

From WP:HELP "to link to a section or subsection in another page: [[page name#section name|displayed text]]" - X201 (talk) 09:53, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Did you really mean WP:HELP, or did you mean Help:Link? - David Biddulph (talk) 10:15, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Both. I meant WP:HELP which leads to Help:Link when you follow the Help Menu.- X201 (talk) 10:24, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merger expert needed[edit]

Folks, anyone with an interest in mergers of the non-legal variety want to take a crack at merging GiftCards.com with GiftCards LLC?--ukexpat (talk) 13:28, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Citation link[edit]

How to add link like this: http://www.borussia.de/de/aktuelles-termine/news/borussia-news/news-detailansicht.html?tx_ttnews[tt_news]=14779&cHash=4a56b5ca8d1121ae02e733e608147846 to citation? It doesn't work because the link has [] in it. [1]

What does "patrolled" mean?[edit]

What does this mean and do I need to do anything about it? I got it in an email.

User:Auenwald/vector.js was patrolled by DragonflySixtyseven. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Auenwald (talkcontribs) 15:33, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need to do anything about it. When a new page is created on Wikipedia it shows up in Special:NewPagesFeed until it has been patrolled. Patrolling is mainly for articles, to ensure that someone has seen the new article and checked it for variuous problems and issues, but non-article pages still tend to show up in the new pages feed until someone goes and checks the box that they've been patrolled. If a patroller finds issues with a page, they should let you know. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:47, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks Auenwald (talk) 17:54, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Should the Xena:_Warrior_Princess article have news added that there is a reboot of the series coming out in fall of 2016?[edit]

There is a bunch of articles about on google. NBC wants to pick up the show: http://www.cnet.com/news/xena-warrior-princess-officially-returns-to-tv-in-nbc-reboot/ 184.71.183.70 (talk) 20:24, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If, as you say, it can be reliably sourced then yes, a mention at least is probably good. Dismas|(talk) 20:42, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
