March 20[edit]

the article on the mennites[edit]

there is one gross error the anabaptists were never a part of the protestant movement they existed long before that movement and there persecution existed long before it as well read " the trail of blood" by carroll and foxes book of myrtyrs why people trying to catorgize us into protestants i can notunderstand escept they can not deal with more than two in an equasion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.81.180.203 (talk) 00:54, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you have an issue with content in an article, please discuss it at an article talk page, such as Talk: Anabaptists. Since this is your only edit, it is not obvious what article you think should be changed. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:44, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Blood Moon[edit]

Merry meet, what the person said about The Blood Moon is wrong, the blood moon is Wicca's holiday, christions dont know what their talking about, and btw the bible is wrong — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.68.212.104 (talk) 00:56, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't appear that you are replying to a previous comment. If you think that the content in an article is wrong, please discuss at a talk page , such as Talk: Blood Moon. Since this was your only edit, there is no way to determine except by guessing what article you are referring to. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:46, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There is no article about a Wicca holiday known as a Blood Moon. If you think that there should be one, you should cite reliable sources. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:49, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Running Vista? Per Microsoft: "After you install security update 3013455, you may notice some text quality degradation in certain scenarios. The problem only occurs on systems that are running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP2. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available."
So, uninstall update 3013455. --  Gadget850 talk 01:36, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbynum1: The quoted message is what https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3013455 said a month ago. There is now a fix linked there. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:50, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia wants to re-name my account???[edit]

hi. I received a message from User:MediaWiki message delivery telling me that my account would be re-named because it supposedly clashed with someone else's account with the same name. I've done a search on wikipedia and google and could not find anyone else with this name.

The message than told me that if I thought this was an error, I could use "Special:Merge Account" to reserve all accounts named "JayJ47" from being re-named.

Now that I've done this, does that mean my username will not be changed. If not, how can I stop this from happening? Thank you. JayJ47 (talk) 02:55, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JayJ47, all your accounts are now merged. Your username will not be changed. You have take no further action. Nothing will happen to your account. All the best, Taketa (talk) 05:15, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Sang Min Park (singer - 박 상민) is only in Korean.[edit]

Would you please put up the English Version of the same articel? I could see in English thru "Google Translate" but it was not in printable form. Somehow, the English version after translation doesn't print. Help!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.240.43.174 (talk) 04:11, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, 216.240.43.174. I'm afraid "the English version" of that article doesn't exist until somebody decides to write it (I take it that this is a different person from Park Sang-min). Each language Wikipedia is a separate project, and may or may not have articles on the same subject, which may or may not start as translations of one another (and typically they will thereafter be edited independently. You could request somebody write the article at requested articles (though there is a long backlog), or try to interest somebody at WT:WikiProject Korea. --ColinFine (talk) 15:54, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Khatu shyam[edit]

Hi, I just want to make a correction on the Khatu shyamji article (link: Khatushyam). Babarik was the son of Bhim and Ahilya (Naag Kanya) and not Ghatotkach. The most reliable text which gives a detailed knowledge about the life of Shyam Baba is Akhand Jyot. Every shyam prabhu follower must be knowing about it and must have recited the akhand jyot path. One of the links is http://shreeshyammandiralambazar.com/page.php?id=17 please go through this and you will get your answers.

Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.124.251.170 (talk) 08:56, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, 124.124.251.170. If you look at the Talk page Talk:Khatushyam, it is suggested that this is "not about the classical Babarika of the Mahabharta, but of a regional variation". If this is true, it may account for the discrepancy you refer to.
I suggest you raise your question on that talk page (though I don't know if anybody is watching it). Alternatively, you may edit the article yourself. But what will improve the article is not replacing one unreferenced assertion with a different unreferenced assertion, but referencing every claim in the article to a reliable published source. --ColinFine (talk) 16:07, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Transferring image to Commons[edit]

Have transferred an image to Commons, but cannot understand the instructions about putting the appropriate tag on the image at WP to indicate that it has been transferred to Commons. Image is File:Newnesglowworms.jpg. Sardaka (talk) 09:32, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, @Sardaka:, information about WP -> Commons moves can be found at Wikipedia:Moving files to the Commons (especially "Transferring manually" for non-bot uploads). While you already added most information, Commons has a special Commons:Template:Original upload log to provide as much log data as possible (see template documentation and "What links here" for some use cases). After double-checking, that all en-Wiki information is copied, you can tag the en-Wiki image with {{Now Commons}} and an admin will handle it. You can remove the tag to request an admin move, as you already did that manually. GermanJoe (talk) 10:05, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I filled in a few minor details and tagged the en-Wiki file as duplicate (see file histories of both file versions). That should be all for now - an admin will check the situation and remove the local file, if all is OK. GermanJoe (talk) 16:24, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
IOW, if you ever need it again, add a {{nowcommons}} here after toollabs:commonshelper helped you to get the original upload log right on commons. SCNR, but the "moving files" page is rather long for what fits in one line. –Be..anyone (talk) 18:35, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

reliable source help[edit]

Shea Arender

I am a new user and don't understand why if I have a lot of reliable sources listed, I still have the warning at the top of the page? Adamoppedisano (talk) 13:40, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Because maintenance and BLP PROD templates are not removed automagically. If you think you have dealt with the issue, you can remove the PROD template, but please indicate why you have done so in your edit summary, or, preferably, by leaving a message on the article's talk page.--ukexpat (talk) 14:21, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and removed the PROD. I also attempted to clean up some of the extremely promotional language and formatting errors, but both still need more work. Are you in some way connected with the subject? If so please declare your conflict of interest on your user page and take a look at WP:COI. I also note that you uploaded the image to Commons as your own work - please confirm that you own the copyright to the image either because you are the photographer or because it was assigned to you. If you don't own it, there is a permission problem that will have to be resolved. Thanks.--ukexpat (talk) 14:36, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Title of article 'Of empires'[edit]

Hi,

I was wondering. Is there a way to change the title of an article? It would only be a minor change to capitalise the word 'Empires' so the title of the article reads 'Of Empires'.

Here is a link to the article in question - 'Of empires'.

Of empires

Many thanks, Josh Jgrfletcher (talk) 14:47, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It has been moved to Of Empires.--ukexpat (talk) 15:01, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) It looks like someone already did it for you. All you have to do to change the title is move the article, there are some restrictions on who can move articles and which can be moved. See WP:MOVE. PhantomTech (talk) 15:02, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Ruby Andrews: Entertainer, Professional Recording Artist, CEO-COO-CFO-President -Genuine Ruby Records[edit]

My name is Ruby Andrews and I am the one who corrected information under my name. I am obligated to keep my career updated some people just copy information. I am the original. I was reading information on my career as well as myself and like I said information on this page is misinformation. As a experience d entertainer, professional recording artist this information needs to be updated as fans do not need to read misinformation on me or my career, and yes I am still active in this business of music. I will from time to time seek to correct information under my name and likeness. Thank you for your time and interest in this matter... Ruby Andrews — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruby Andrews (talkcontribs) 17:10, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ruby Andrews. Wikipedia requires all information to come from reliable published sources, especially about living people. If you want something on your page changed, please follow the advice on WP:AUTOPROB and avoid editing the article yourself except in the circumstances mentioned there. Unreferenced material may be removed from the article. --ColinFine (talk) 17:39, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a help page for Wikipedia. Your link is at one of our sister sites Wikiquote. They have a help page at wikiquote:Wikiquote:Village pump but this was obvious vandalism so I have made my first Wikiquote edit and reverted it. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:41, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Display title[edit]

I am trying to edit the title of my wiki page: Victoria seaman

It currently reads "Victoria seaman" and I would like to capitalize the last name to read "Victoria Seaman"

I have tried entering this code {{subst:RMassist|old page name|requested name|reason= reason for move}} in the text section, but it tells me I have to do it on a requested moves page, which there is no link to.

Any advice? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victoriadseaman (talkcontribs)

The article has been deleted because it was too promotional in tone. Please see WP:SPAM.--ukexpat (talk) 18:02, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image licence[edit]

I want to use this image of a living person in an article. What licence do I need? Pickuptha'Musket (talkcontribs) 17:50, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately you cannot use it, under any license. The page clearly says "© Copyright ITV plc 2015" at the bottom, and as James Murray is still alive, there is no free-use rationale to justify its use. - Arjayay (talk) 17:56, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aquila Court Building name change to Magnolia Hotel Omaha[edit]

I have tried to correct the Aquila Court Building page name to Magnolia Hotel Omaha. This is creating problems in Google search results (Knowledge Graph) because they are pulling the information from here. State Controller Wikipedia Entry[edit]

Dear Help Desk:

I work for the person in the Wikipedia entry and I formerly edited Wikipedia entries for a think tank in Washington.

At the subject's request, I revised her very outdated Wikipedia entry that did not reflect her faculty positions at UC Berkeley or UCLA, her columns for the Christian Science Monitor, her long career in investment banking or her current CEO status of a technology company. The facts for my March 18th updates came from documented sources and from the professional CV (a background that has been carefully vetted for a top security clearance by the FBI)of the subject. However, the entire entry has now been undone and the old, outdated and factually incorrect one has been mysteriously restored.

Can you please tell me how this happened? How can we re-do, update and be-build the page as it should appear to fully and factually represent the subject's full 30 year career. This needs to be amended immediately so the public record does not reflect gross inaccuracies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.31.78.181 (talk) 21:06, 20 March 2015 (UTC) [reply]

We aren't mind readers - you will have to tell us the individual's name before we can come up with a meaningful response. AndyTheGrump (talk) 21:10, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But whoever it is, you have a conflict of interest and are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly. You are welcome to make suggestions (with reliable published sources, preferably independent sources) on the article's talk page, so that a disinterested editor can decide what changes are appropriate. --ColinFine (talk) 16:47, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed for deletion[edit]

I have a page that has been recently proposed for speedy deletion. What issues does this page that have made it a candidate for deletion? Proposed page link: Mafia Magazine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Madegray (talkcontribs) 21:19, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is a strong candidate for deletion because it has a total lack of in-line citations which establish its subject's notability. I don't think this is your fault – as far as I can tell, there are no reliable independent sources which discuss the magazine. Maproom (talk) 23:15, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
