Fixed it, thanks for pointing this out. Only the article title and eventual synonyms on first mention should usually be bolded (plus a few additional special cases). See the guideline at MOS:BOLD for more information. GermanJoe (talk) 00:31, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Created page linked to existing one ...[edit]

Hey there, folks, I've never run up against this dilemma before, but obviously I did something that I can't understand or find a solution to undo. In attempting to create an article for the 1952 album "Oscar Peterson Plays George Gershwin" somehow when I finally was ready to "save the page" I was shocked to find that the entire article was now under the title "Oscar Peterson Plays the George Gershwin Songbook", which previously existed as its own article for that album. When I attempted to go back and "undo" what I had done, it did not show any of the work as a large plus number contribution in my history or on the article's history page. Can someone take a look and see what could have gone wrong? I've created pages before, but never run up against something like this. Is there a way to simply revert back to the original article for "Oscar Peterson Plays the George Gershwin Songbook"and yet create a new article "Oscar Peterson Plays George Gershwin" at the same time? I have reverted your edit to Oscar Peterson Plays the George Gershwin Songbook, and used your new content to create the new article Oscar Peterson Plays George Gershwin, and have provided attribution to your edit. When creating a new page you need to do the creation and save in there, rather than saving in an edit to the old article. A further problem is that you uploaded the image File:PetersonPlaysGershwin.jpg to Commons, which would only be acceptable if the image was free of copyright. I believe that what you should have done is load it to English Wikipedia under a WP:NFCC rationale in a similar manner to File:Oscarpgershwinsongbook.jpg. I've posted a comment there regarding the use of the same image for two other Clef Records albums: Oscar Peterson Plays Duke Ellington (1952) and Oscar Peterson Plays Harold Arlen (1955) as the one for Oscar Peterson Plays George Gershwin so hopefully whoever uploaded those will know how to upload this one as well. The error message says "Check |url= value (help)", and the word "help" is in blue to indicate that it is a wikilink, in this case to Help:CS1 errors#bad url. I need help fixing my error[edit]

This was the first time I was doing a move myself. I was trying to move Draft:New Perry Hotel to mainspace, but I moved it to Wikipedia:New Perry Hotel. I put in a SD on that article and tried the move again, to New Perry Hotel, but it only created a redirect to Wikipedia:New Perry Hotel. How can this be fixed? The changes in one of my edits are not the changes I made; how did this happen.[edit]

Tigercompanion25 (talk) 04:09, 23 August 2016 (UTC)Greetings, Wikipedians! On the article for Kwanza Unit, I merely attempted to remove a stray parenthesis and move a comma to the correct location. Imagine my surprise when I look at the difference page here and find all sorts of edits I didn't make, including edits regarding the substance of the article, which is on a subject with which I'm not even familiar. A subsequent editor promptly reverted some of these changes, and quite rightly. My concern is, how did this happen? Has my account been hacked? Or has there been a technical glitch? These changes are too specific for me to think I did them in error. Also, this hasn't happened on any of my other edits, as far as I can tell. I don't mean to be melodramatic about it, but I'm deeply perturbed to have someone making poor edits and giving the impression that they're mine. Any ideas what happened here? @Tigercompanion25:Appears to me that you accidentally edited an old version of the page, as you didn't so much introduce as reintroduce some issues. A bit of digging revealed the version you edited to likely have been the one by FrescoBot in January 2011. this diff shows no change beyond the fixes you meant to implement, and that's what I get when I compare your edit to FrescoBot's edit, so...you probably checked or otherwise ended up at an old version of the page before clicking edit. Format "Literary criticism"[edit]

While we appreciate your desire to keep the article accurate, we also cannot just take the word of someone who claims to be someone related to the subject of an article. After all, anyone could come here claiming to be a husband, wife, brother, daughter, etc. of some notable person. That is why we use reliable sources which are cited in the article. I noticed that you removed on bit of info which even said "it was reported". We aren't saying that it is true. The article clearly says that that is what was reported. If you'd like to add additional information, please leave your suggestions (with links to reliable sources) on the talk page of the article at Talk:Suzy Miller. Help me template for talk pages of protected pages[edit]

I've needed multiple times to shut down an edit request on a protected template's talk because either a) the user did not have obvious consensus for his change or b) the user did not suggest a straightforward change.

Is there some template which can provide visibility to a discussion, besides {{RFC}}, for such things? Most of the time, the changes are small, and having an RFC every time for such a case seems like a case of WP:BURO. --Izno (talk) 14:44, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This has been a long-running issue in my experience. The closest I ever found to guidance on the matter is this. The suggestions aren't template-related, but the best thing I've found to do is to link to the request from the related WikiProject. Find all [[Special:MyPage/*.css]][edit]

Is there a way to find all existing css files (a possible one being Special:MyPage/common.css) that there are for my accounts (currently only the en: and de: one are really in use, since I am not fluent enough in any other languages) Years ago I created a css that did set the [ ] watch this page to [x] watch this page when I edit a page for the first time, but I forgot how I set that by default in my account. When I recall correct there is more than one way to archive that, and one was creating a css page, and now I cannot find that css page since I not recall its name. (It was obviously not common.css.) Help with moving chart beside beside another chart.[edit]

Does anyone know how to make the two pie charts at [1] be beside of each other instead of on top of each other. When you press show preview in that diff, they are beside each other but aren't when you actually save the page for some reason. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 18:39, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"free field" or "free-field"[edit]

I want to to translate the German wikipedia article Freifeld, but, as a web search tells us, and also as Anechoic chamber mentions, both versions ("free field" and "free-field") seem to be in use. If "free field" is indeed the correct translation of the title, you could call the article "Free field (acoustics)" to disambiguate it from the other similarly named articles. See Diaphragm (acoustics) for an example. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 19:28, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • 1. At the german wiki, click on "Links hinzufügen" under "Sprachen" at the bottom left to link Free field (acoustics) to the German version.
