Sock Puppetry Accusation on My Talk Page[edit]

An irritable editor left a notice of some sort on my user page accusing me of being a sock puppet for my IP address before I created the current account. I have openly stated that I have written under my IP.

Is it possible to get rid of the notice? Looks kind of stupid there.

I would appreciate not being directly pinged so that this message does not get flagged on my message or alerts.

Thanks.

No sweat. You have the acknowledged right to remove that notice from your talk page. By removing it, you are showing that you've read it. --Orange Mike | Talk 04:04, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading Pic's[edit]

I am still not having any luck with uploading pictures... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Counclemike (talkcontribs) 01:35, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be more specific? The only image that I see in your contributions is this one. So, it looks like you've been able to upload an image fine. Dismas|(talk) 02:57, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please help. I have TRIED to add - without the help of a template- 3 new citations - all verifiable- to this page. I cannot get it right. please keep in the quotes if you are able to fix. I do not have a template to help me. It is 3 new citations - not two - I cannot work out what has happened. Thanks 101.189.0.102 (talk) 04:06, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The link in the error message leads to Help:Cite errors/Cite error ref too many keys, which is crystal clear. When will you learn to read the messages and to sort problems out for yourself rather than always expecting someone else to clear up your errors? --David Biddulph (talk) 04:16, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am so sorry David. My expertise is research not te technicalities. Please Please help me with the placing of the < and the > for these three refs. I am sorry - but I cannot do this myself. 101.189.0.102 (talk) 04:19, 12 June 2016 (UTC) Thanks for being patient. Sorry[reply]

Dear Wikipedia,

I have contributed an article to a independent musician that I’m a fan of.

However it seems like my good intentions have been misunderstood as a desire to promote and infringe the copyrighted text on the artists’ website: Josh Herbert

I'm terribly sorry for this mistake and misunderstanding.

My Justification:

I wrote this article's text before it ended up on the joshherbert.com website (which was a window website just about 3 weeks ago). I guess he liked it and copied it from the wikipedia. Which is fine by me...

Just to clarify, I am a fan of his music and wanted to share my knowledge about him with the world. I had no intent of it to be considered promotional document. It was meant for nonprofit educational purposes. My desire to make things right:

If it can be of any help, I am willing to re-write the whole thing differently. here's a draft of my re-write: Talk:Josh Herbert/Temp

My questions:

1) How long does it take to an answer from my filing? (screenshot below of the instructions I followed) 2) Is it possible to keep the first wikipedia entry I made? If not, how long should I wait before the second wikipedia I wrote for Josh Herbert is accepted and cleared by your investigators? Hope I can clear up this mistake and continue to be a contributor to your amazing encyclopedia.

I know you are very busy, which is why I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help and hard work at Wikipedia.org

Looking forward to your reply. Take Care,--Jonathan Tessier (talk) 12:15, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathan Tessier, it looks like you've done everything correctly there. When the week has expired, I expect an admin will replace the current version of the page with the one on the temp page. Note: I didn't take a good look at the sources, so I'm not making an assessment on the subject's notability. Dismas|(talk) 11:10, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear wikipedia, thank you so much for your help, support and spreading the wonders of knowledge throughout the internet. the references i've added are correct and while i've been waiting I found a few more online. Should you wish for me to add more, it would be my pleasure :) - Will I still be possible for me to updated the new josh herbert article in the future? Thanks again for everything you do, have a wonderful day :)--Jonathan Tessier (talk) 12:14, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome to keep editing the temp article while waiting for it to be moved. And I don't see why you wouldn't be able to edit the article in the future. Dismas|(talk) 17:52, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

article title change[edit]

Hello, I currently live in India and there is an official television series aired in India known as 24. all things that the American 24 series follow like the genre of the series is followed by the Indian series too. It Is like the INDIAN VERSION OF THE ENGLISH 24. (It is not violating any copyright issues as it took permission before making an Indian version) THEREFORE I WOULD LIKE THAT THE TITLE OF THIS ARTICLE BE CHANGED TO "24( AMERICAN TV SERIES)" SO AS NOT TO CONFUSE WITH THE INDIAN SERIES WHICH DOES NOT HAVE AN article at present but is soon likely to have as I am working on it. --VarunFEB2003 (talkcontribs) 09:15, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@VarunFEB2003: Replied at Talk:24 (TV series)#article title change. Please keep discussion in one place. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:09, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proper use of WP:COMMENTs and the "|reason=" parameter in templates?[edit]

A little while ago I added a bunch of templates (citation needed, clarification needed, expand section) and gave detailed rationales in the "reason" parameter, but these were removed and placed on the talk page where their original context (what content they were addressing) was lost.

I have been using COMMENTs and the reason template for years on a whole bunch of articles, and no one has ever told me that what I was doing was in some way wrong, and this is not discussed on either WP:COMMENT or any of the template pages I have checked -- am I missing something?

Templates[edit]

I recently created the simple template, {{AIP BE}}, to be used as a reference for Belgian airports from here. What I didn't notice at the time was that while most of them are in the format "https://www.belgocontrol.be/opersite/eaip/eAIP_Main/html/eAIP/EB-AD-2.{{{1}}}-en-GB.html#AD-2.{{{1}}}" there are some that are "https://www.belgocontrol.be/opersite/eaip/eAIP_Main/html/eAIP/EB-AD-3.{{{1}}}-en-GB.html". I could make a second template but was wondering if there was a possible way to change {{AIP BE}} to accommodate the second type. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 12:51, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

To confirm, are you asking how to produce different outputs depending on the value of {{{1}}}? If so, could you use the switch parser function? —  crh 23  (Talk) 13:10, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It appears from https://www.belgocontrol.be/opersite/eaip/eAIP_Main/html/eAIP/EB-AD-1.3-en-GB.html that AD-3 is only used for heliports so I suggest an optional parameter |type=heliport with default being aerodrome. Hopefully the site will continue to use the same url structure for each type of aerodrome and for each type of heliport. The template could also hard code a list of heliport codes and automatically choose with switch as suggested above. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:20, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have implemented the switch.[1] I guess the template will rarely or never be used on heliports which aren't currently registered at the site and now hard coded. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:57, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. Thanks very much. The template shouldn't be used on for aerodromes that aren't at the site. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:02, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit counter issue[edit]

I'm having issues with the edit counter, it says "KGirlTrucker87 does not exist" but already exists when I'm renamed. Can it be usersrped for it? KGirlTrucker81 talk what I'm been doing 17:09, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@KGirlTrucker81: You were renamed five hours ago. There are different edit counters and I don't know what you mean by "usersrped" but if a tool is not essential to editing then give it at least a week from the rename before complaining. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:19, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
An edit counter search currently states "Caution: Replication lag is high, changes newer than 374 minutes may not be shown." As 374 minutes is 6.25 hours, if your account is only 5 hours old, it did not exist then - it will catch up - Arjayay (talk) 17:32, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"usersrped" may be a typo for "usurped". I don't think there is any risk that your username will be usurped. Maproom (talk) 10:58, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
