changing languages[edit]

Bot archive loss[edit]

It seems a bot-created archive got lost due to some wrong coding on Talk:Brainwashed (George Harrison album). As you can see here, the talkpage consisted of three entries (one of them actually a factual question regarding the article from 2006 that never got answered) when the bot came rolling around with this edit in 2013. The result is that the talkpage is empty now (except for the Beatle box at the top and a new bot entry from 2016), and the archive link is red, pointing at nothing. --79.242.222.168 (talk) 04:39, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not quite sure how a bot would detect all redlinks to archive pages, although a stab at some common patterns doesn't seem impossible. I think there's a way to list all redlinks (see, for example, Special:WantedPages), and you might just be able to search such a list for anything with "/archive" in the name. James Bryce, 1st Viscount Bryce[edit]

In the "academic section" of this article, the "citation needed" is incorrect. The reference to Bryce's short career in the legal world is indeed in reference number 4.

View another user's sandbox?[edit]

Yes, there is a way. And no special actions are needed. You just need to know (or guess, or investigate) what the name of the sandbox is. For example if you go to the search box and type User:CiaPan/ the box will expand a drop-list suggesting three existing pages:

You can also click on the user contributions link and scroll to the bottom of the page. There you will see a link to "subpages" which will show you all the pages in a users space. Almost nothing on Wikipedia (actually the whole of the WMF servers) is hidden or private - the major exception is the actively running server software code, that must obviously be protected so that the various WMF websites can actually run. Certain types of content is hidden or deleted, usually for legal reasons. This page has the basics of when why and how certain content is removed. Saving your latest version[edit]

How do you save your latest version of draft article? I keep saving it but when I do preview, it says I haven't saved the latest version and when I login, the contributions and history, show an earlier version? I want to submit the latest for review. Hedybaker, when you are editing the article, you should see three buttons under the edit box, Save Page, Show Preview, and Show Changes. Show Preview will show you a preview of what the article will look like once you hit Save Page. It sounds like you're previewing but never saving. Dismas|^(talk) 17:29, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

converting links[edit]

I,m an active wikipedian on urdu and english wiki i mostly translate pages from eng to urdu wiki so i have to to copy articles and then paste on urdu wiki ,when i paste eng link ,so it will convert into red link,Now my question is that is there any shortcut that i can convert these link into existing relative urdu articles with out wasting time in searching then again copy paste.--Baltistani (talk) 17:12, 31 May 2016 (UTC)-[reply]

Hello, Baltistani. You will sometimes be able to avoid having to search, by going to the referenced English article, and seeing if it already has an Interwiki link to an Urdu article; but I don't think there's any shortcut to finding that and replacing the text. I am trying to contact someone regarding the page written about 3rd battalion 4th marines. There is a marine from 3/4 that is a Silver Star, Purple Heart and multiple NAM with V recipient. Hello, IP user. Wikipedia doesn't work like most resources you're probably familiar with: anybody can edit an article. But "notable" has a special meaning in Wikipedia: it doesn't mean famous, or important, or influential, or heroic, or popular or anything like that. It means simply "there has been enough material published about this person to write a well-sourced article about them"; because Wikipedia articles are required to be based entirely on published material, so that a reader can in principle always check the information in an article. If you can find such sources, then there could be an article on this person, and you may add them to the article in question - or you could suggest it on the talk page of the article. Alternatively, you could ask for assistance at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history. But if there are not suitable published sources for that person, then I'm afraid Wikipedia will not take note of them and they can't be added to the article. --ColinFine (talk) 18:57, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

omission of Sunderland UK on your latitudes of cities site[edit]

England is strongly overrepresented there with 30 cities. Including a small city like Sunderland seems like systemic bias. Many 5-10 times as large cities in other countries are omitted. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:57, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WRONG TITLE[edit]

Hello, I just wanted to communicate that there is wrong title in one of the article of Wikipedia.

Beant Singh (assassin)

Beant Singh was not an assassin he was a FREEDOM FIGHTER. He killed Indira because she attacked their Golden Temple without any reason so consequently she was executed. It does not make any sense to describe a Freedom Fighter as an assassin it is RIDICULOUS!!. The scope of the website is to give any type of information to there reader, but not the fake one.

So kindly I am asking to change the wrong title in the correct one

Hi Caspio19 - it appears this person took part in an assassination, and (from a quick search) we don't have any articles on people with "(Freedom fighter)" appended, possibly due to the connotations the phrase holds? I can understand your frustration, and agree somewhat that an involvement in an assassination only tentativly makes someone an "assassin" - perhaps something like "activist"? (edit conflict) Wikipedia refers to subjects using the words that are most often applied to them. I have examined all the citations in the article Beant_Singh_(assassin). Of those which I have been able to check, I find six use the word "assassin" or "assassination", two use "killer" or "killing", one uses "martyrdom", and none use "freedom fighter". Submitted draft[edit]

Hi,

I have submitted my first article for review (after two rejects). Since the submission date I have made minor changes and added a photo. My question is every time I make a change does my article go back to the end of the queue?
