Karoor Soman page keeps getting deleted[edit]

Hi Wiki

I have been trying to create Karoor Soman, great writer from Kerala, India wikipedia entry and it keeps getting deleted. i have got explicit permission to use the copyrighted material from the authors website and even when i try and rephrase the lines, its still put up for deletion. why is this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rajeevholmes (talk • contribs) 06:41, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and it is not sufficient to claim that the subject gives permission. Often, other people can hold the copyright, and we have no way to prove that permission has been given. A subject's website is not the best source for an encyclopaedic article. You need to find independent WP:Reliable sources where the writer has been written about at length by others, and summarise what these independent sources say, but using your own words so that copyright issues do not arise. Please understand, Rajeevholmes, that Wikipedia has essentially no interest in what the subject of an article says about themselves, or what their friends or associates say about them. It is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have chosen to publish about them (in reliable places - these do not have to be in English). Extra parameters in the infobox[edit]

If there is an article about you, please link to it. You need to be aware that Wikipedia does not host personal profiles, and anything you put on your user page pretending to be an article is against the policy for user pages, and will never be found by Google. You may put a little information about yourself on your user page, preferably phrased in the first person (I ... not he ...), especially if it relates to how you intend to improve the encyclopaedia, but the text you put there should not look like a Wikipedia article. It is noted that you deleted the links provided for your assistance at your talk page. To date your edits do not appear to have contributed much, if anything, to the encyclopedia. I would suggest that you study carefully, all the links you have previously been given and try to understand what Wikipedia is. It is not a form of social media where you have a 'profile' and can give your opinion on the meaning of life or anything else. You have Facebook, Twitter and various blogging websites for that. It is an encyclopedia composed of properly researched articles about notable subjects. You are most welcome to contribute constructively to the project, but if you are not intending to do so, please do not continue to edit disruptively. Thank you. Watchlist not functioning correctly, or is it?[edit]

I'm puzzled. This evening, a couple of edits I made ages ago were reverted. No problem with that, and the notification system informed me, I had a look etc. etc. There have been a couple of edits since, but none of this has appeared on my watchlist. Article is Arena (swimwear) and I checked and it is on my list. Does this happen often? -Roxy, Zalophus californianus. barcus 23:13, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It works for me. If "Expand watchlist to show all changes, not just the most recent" is disabled at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-watchlist then you only see the most recent edit. If that edit is hidden by one of the settings like bot or minor then you see nothing. You don't see an older edit instead and you are not supposed to.
