Mussolini[edit]

I want to edit the Mussolini page because some information such as his personal details and some of his policies aren't shown correctly. However the user that controls the page won't respond. Any ideas?RealTalk12345 (talk) 01:04, 16 February 2017 (UTC)RealkTalk[reply]

Hello, there is no single user that controls the page or any Wiki page at all. Some pages have to be protected so that only accounts that are at least 4 days old & have 10 valid contributions can edit them. You have acted correctly in going to the talk page but you should type {{edit semi-protected}} immediately below your heading and beneath that, give details of the changes you propose together with valid sources in support thereof. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 01:19, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

steel industry...[edit]

To mention Minnesota's Iron Range one time is a joke. Largest deposit in North America. That won wars. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.21.166.150 (talk) 08:22, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Which page are you referring to? steel industry redirects to Steel#Steel industry. Is that it? Are you suggesting it should mention Minnesota's Iron Range? PrimeHunter (talk) 19:41, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

Is there a way to see who added a particular bit to an article, other than painstakingly searching the edit history?

Benjamin (talk) 10:27, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

At the top of the article's history page you will see a link to the external tool "Revision history search", leading to http://wikipedia.ramselehof.de/wikiblame.php --David Biddulph (talk) 10:44, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My Company Page (Geometric (company) ) was deleted[edit]

WP:Articles for deletion/Geometric (company) gives you a link to the page for deletion review, but make sure that you read the reasons why your advertising was deleted. --David Biddulph (talk) 10:49, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing errors on Shiritsu Horitsuba Gakuen[edit]

Reference help requested. Hi there! I am new to making article for Wikipedia and I am having issues citing a source properly. It's an article on Shiritsu Horitsuba Gakuen, a series that was published in a Japanese manga magazine over a number of years. When trying to fill all the info into the template I made some errors and I'm not entirely certain how to fix it. It was published in Shonen Magzine form 04/24/2006 to 09/24/2011. I've read over the templates and wracked my brain but I still can't figure out what I need to do to make this citation work. Any tips, or other templates I should use, anything would be a major help! Thanks so much and happy editing! Thanks, ButterflyNebula (talk) 14:33, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that the published article is the Shonen Magazine instead of Shonen Magzine - typo? Did you read any of the Help pages documentation while you did the edits? PrimeCerberus (talk) 14:35, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have tidied up the ref. so it does not produce the error messages. Basically the parameter names were missing E.g. |title=xxxx|date=xx month year etc. You may wish to alter or add some information. Please see WP:REFB for a basic guide to adding references. Eagleash (talk) 14:53, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks! I'm still learning. From here out my edits should go more smoothly thanks to the magic of the sandbox. ButterflyNebula (talk) 21:41, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Organization Pages[edit]

Hi,

I'm a new employee at The Integer Group and I've been asked to help with updating our Wikipedia Page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:The_Integer_Group) so it abides by the guidelines that you've set. I briefly read that there is a verification process for an employee to gain before I can start making updates. Keep me honest and let me know if that's true. Happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Thanks! Matt — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattmcgee29 (talkcontribs) 15:44, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mattmcgee29. Unfortunately, many companies have an erroneous idea that they have something to do with a Wikipedia article about them: they do not. The article about your company does not belong to your company, the company has no say on what goes into the article, and Wikipedia has essentially no interest in what the company says, or wishes to be said, about itself.
Having said all that, once you have made the mandatory declaration of your status as a paid editor, you are welcome to make suggestions for improving the article on its talk page, as suggested in WP:COI. The more specific and neutral you make these, and the more you provide citations to independent published sources (n.b. "independent" excludes articles based on press releases or interviews), the more likely it is that somebody will take your suggestion and apply it. If there is little traffic on the article's talk page, it is worth adding {{edit request}} (with the double curly brackets), which will add your request to a list of waiting edits. --ColinFine (talk) 20:52, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Empire states movie[edit]

Hello im trying to find the name of a actor that was in this movie. She was playing a video game. The time in mivie was btween the ten minute mark and the thirteen minute mark. Im trying ro find her name because she looks exactly like my grandmother who past away in 1993 if you could point me in the right direction to find this actress i would greatly appreciate it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.196.198.60 (talk) 17:11, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is the 'desk' for help in editing Wikipedia. However, try this link noting that there are several films with a similar name and additional searches suggested. The IMDb links should reveal a full cast list. Eagleash (talk) 18:14, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How to start a new page...[edit]

Hello,

For the last 19 years, I have run the oldest wall mounted bottle opener company in the USA if not the world. The company started in 1925 in Newport News, VA but is currently located in Avondale Estates, GA. I would like to set up a page to document its history, etc.

Please let me know how I should start.

Welcome to Wikipedia. You can use the Articles for Creation to create the page, since you have a conflict of interest. Follow the steps on the page, but the first steps will be to make sure that your company meets notability standards and find independent reliable sources for the information. RudolfRed (talk) 19:12, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, David Brim. I gave a similar answer to RudolRed's to your question on the Teahouse. Please don't ask the same question in two places. --ColinFine (talk) 20:55, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fundraising Links on Wiki[edit]

I can not find any Wiki policy on including fundraising notes on a wiki page. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing you would put in an article. Can someone advise me if this is acceptable? See: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eman_Ahmed_Abd_El_Aty&diff=next&oldid=765697393

The last paragraph notes a current ongoing fundraiser with a link. Mateck (talk) 19:38, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mateck. It's against policy to use Wikipedia as a means of promotion, and interestingly, since the user who added the content has had the article BitGiving speedy deleted twice, it appears that the intention was to promote the website itself, not necessarily the subject of this article.
You would be perfectly within your rights to remove the content as spam, or for that matter, to keep it if you feel like it is none-the-less relevant to the article. TimothyJosephWood 19:57, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why is my personal wiki in redirected/darfted?[edit]

Hello, My wiki page has been drafted. Why? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martti_Rosenblatt I have not created this page, but i have corrected it. Now a Musicbot has redirected it.

How can i fix it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tsisbtiis (talkcontribs) 22:23, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tsisbtiis. I presume your are Martti Rosenblatt? The first part of the answer is that it is not yours, or personal: it is a (draft of a) Wikipedia article about a person who happens to be you. Secondly, I'm not sure why it was User:MusikBot that moved it, but if the article hadn't been moved to Draft space, it would have been deleted, as it currently fails the standards for Biographies of living persons in that it hasn't a single reference. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia: it contains, or should contain, only information which can be verified from reliable published sources. Until such time as the draft article about you has citations to a reliable published sources, unconnected with you, for every fact in the draft, it has no chance of being accepted as an article. --ColinFine (talk) 22:59, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: & @Tsisbtiis: The log shows that it was moved from Martti Rosenblatt to Draft:Martti Rosenblatt because the article was one of many created by User:Sander.v.Ginkel. An investigation had found that SvG had created thousands of articles, a large proportion of which were not supported by any references given. It was therefore agreed that all of the BLPs which SvG had created would be deleted and turned to drafts so that they could be evaluated to see whether the claims made were verifiable. MusikBot 10 was set up to move the thousands of articles from mainspace to draft. I have added one reference to the draft in question (replacing the only reference in the original version of the page), & hopefully other editors can make further improvements. --David Biddulph (talk) 05:52, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How long will the evaluation last? My page had at least 2-3 references verifying the info. Or there should my more references? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tsisbtiis (talkcontribs) 07:05, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Replies[edit]

Is there a way to only be notified of edits to a particular section?

I post to a noticeboard, and I only want to be notified when someone replies to me, but they don't mention me.

Benjamin (talk) 22:45, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Benjaminikuta: Help:Watchlist#Limitations says: "It is not possible to watch just a part or section of a page." PrimeHunter (talk) 23:05, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: I presume this has been asked in the past? Benjamin (talk) 23:06, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Benjaminikuta: Nope. Never saw this question before. ;) --†dismas†|(talk) 23:23, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dismas: I thought I remember reading about an overhaul to the talk page system that was a failed proposal a few years ago... Benjamin (talk) 23:29, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, oops, didn't notice the link and wink at first. Benjamin (talk) 23:31, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're probably thinking of WP:FLOW. †dismas†|(talk) 00:17, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
