Layout problems with geobox template[edit]

Major layout problems are happening on Black River (Lake Memphremagog), it looks like due to Template:Geobox? Nothing is immediately jumping out at me as wrong; anyone seen something like this before or know how to fix it? -- Beland (talk) 03:57, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've done a bodge, by adding some <br /> tags to the lists of tributaries. But those lists ought to autowrap. It's beyond me to find out why they don't. Maproom (talk) 08:21, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That infobox wants enumerated tributary parameters; each tributary to its own parameter. Didn't wrap because the template applies a nowrap css class.

Thank you, Trappist the monk, for fixing the problem properly.

There may still be an error. Template:Geobox/legend#Fields says that tributary_left1 etc. lists "major tributaries, listed as the river flows downstream", but the text in the infobox says "from the mouth". I can't fix this, as I don't know which way the tributaries are really numbered. Maproom (talk) 09:06, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Acceptable source?[edit]

I want to cite a document in the (British) National Archives. The document is freely available to consult there but can only be accessed otherwise by paying to download it. Does this count as an acceptable source for Wikipedia? Daveleicuk (talk) 08:17, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That article uses cs1 so rather than {{subscription required}}, use one of the built-in parameters |subscription=yes or |url-access=subscription. The external template {{subscription required}} and the built-in parameter |subscription= both suffer from imprecision – multiple external links are allowed in cs1 templates which raises the question: to which external link do these access-identifier-parameters belong? |url-access= applies to the external link specified in |url=:

{{cite book |author=Author |title=Title |url=//example.com |url-access=subscription |location=Location |publisher=Publisher |date=2017}}

Luke Jumeau[edit]

Hi I have submitted an article for review, pls see below link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Jumeau

However, there is a box on top of the article indicate the article is misplaced. see below text from the box:

"This is a misplaced articles for creation submission. If it is not yet ready for article space, please consider moving it to draft space rather than marking it for deletion. Note: If you are not an administrator or page mover please tag the redirect left behind after the move for deletion using {{db-r2}}."

Questions 1. Has my article submitted for review? if so where could find the link to locate the status of my article 2. If my article has not been submitted for review, please advised what should I do next.

Rainbow Ruby title card[edit]

I doubt that's feasible. As you probably know, externally hosted images don't display on Wikipedia. You could upload the image, but unless there's a compatible license or it's in the public domain (both of which seem unlikely), the best you could hope for would be a fair-use exception, and in that case I think only a low-resolution version is acceptable. Take the preceding with a grain of salt, since uploading images is not my forte. Wikipedia:Images has a whole lot of links to help pages and policy/guideline pages. Verifiable source[edit]

I have knowledge of a small Caribbean airline which is not operating three routes due to lack of aircraft, but the route network on its website has not been updated. The non-operation of its routes could, however, be verified by calling the airline's reservation line. I'm wondering how best to deal with this. Should incorrect information be published or should the non-operating routes be marked as suspended or cancelled? Gunner1989 (talk) 12:42, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you could find some report of the suspended routes, then you could make the change in Wikipedia, with that report as a reference. If not, then you should pester the airline to update their website. Perhaps a footnote might be appropriate in the article? Dbfirs 14:52, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Explanatory footnote[edit]

I would appreciate some help on adding explanatory footnotes. I want to add some info in a footnote rather than bracketing it in the main text so that it does not make the main body of text too unwieldy, and then I want to add the citation within the footnote. Dear Daveleicuk, you can find information about inline citation at Wikipedia:Inline citation. What you need to do is add the code <ref>here your reference</ref> to the place in the text where you want the reference, and add <references /> to the bottom of the page, if it is not already there. It will look like this.^[1]

Hi I would like to know how I can create a page about my dad[edit]

Hi I would like to know how I can create a page about my dad, he was a Greek Restauranter. There are lots of interesting stories from the restaurant and my dad. I thought of this as I discovered a few Wikipedia pages of other restaurant proprietors that I worked for in the past who I thought where a lot less interesting characters than him. I have got links to articles in newspapers about his restaurants,locations and dates that tie in with other places and events.

I would like to know how I can go about doing this as I am used to posting on Wordpress and have never posted on Wikipedia before.

@Sotirisjb: Since your dad likely passes WP:GNG, then yes, you can create an article about him. But, you should be wary to make sure that the article is written in a neutral style and that everything is supported by citations, per WP:BLP, which says that anything without citations in a biography of a living person should be removed. Sotirisjb, I would strongly urge you to read My First Article before staring on this project, and to use the Article Wizard to create a draft of the article.
