Review my page and approve it[edit]

I have done changes to my blog NANCY GUPTA as per the comments I received. Can you please help me by making it live. Thanks! --Akash.ka01 (talk) 07:52, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In this edit you removed the feedback from the previous review, even though it said "Do not remove this line!". I have reinstated that feedback template, which gives you a resubmit button for when you are ready to request another review. It is, however, worrying that you refer to the page as your blog. Perhaps you don't understand the difference between a blog and an encyclopedia? --David Biddulph (talk) 08:34, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your current references seem inadequate for an encyclopaedia article. The first seems to be an advert, the second just a bare mention, and the third an interview with the subject. You might like to add some WP:Reliable sources. Dbfirs 08:59, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Template for dubious relevancy?[edit]

Is there a template that can be used to promote discussion if a section is well written, well sourced - but may not actually be relevant to the article itself, or only has tangential relevance so is too detailed? Kind of WP:UNDUE, but not quite, I suppose? Chaheel Riens (talk) 09:43, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers, I stumped for {{Off topic|date=October 2017}} in the end... Chaheel Riens (talk) 14:37, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ThakurSaabji: this page is for discussions of the workings of the Help Desk, not for questions about how to use Wikipedia. It would be better to ask your questions at the Help desk itself. However – the article was deleted for the reasons given in the pink deletion notice near the top of Gaurav Kotli. Maproom (talk) 10:04, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can an .eps file of purely vector graphics be uploaded as a supported (high-quality) image format to be shown at a Wikipedia entry?[edit]

Date conventions on biographical articles, both BLP and non-BLP[edit]

I have looked through various help articles, but cannot find what the conventions are for stating dates of a person's birth and death, or just birth if they are living. If they are living, is their birth date supposed to be shown in mdy format, and if they have died, are the dates supposed to be in dmy format? That is what I have observed in the majority of articles, but couldn't find an actual consensus. Thank you

Potatornado (talk) 14:29, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Potatornado: When giving a full date, MOS:DATE (in particular footnote 8) suggests to avoid giving the month in number format except in the yyyy-mm-dd format. Beyond that, there does not seem to be any strict rules about "September 2, 2001" vs "2 September 2001".
However, another issue is that for BLPs, we should generally avoid giving the full date of birth (or death, when BLP applies to a recently-dead person) unless significant, per WP:BLPPRIVACY; put the year only. I remember seeing someone somewhere saying the unofficial consensus is to put the year only, but obviously I cannot give you a policy link. My personal opinion is that this is good practice (the exact date has little encyclopedic value and rather large privacy-impact value). Well actually that is in the text of BLPPRIVACY; maybe that is a recent addition. TigraanClick here to contact me 15:07, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Potatornado: According to MOS:DATEUNIFY, dates in an article should be consistently formatted throughout in either mdy or dmy format; and according to MOS:DATETIES, which format to use is usually determined by the convention of the country with which the article's subject is connected (for example, mdy in an article about an American person, dmy in an article about a British person). Someone using an organisation name and linking to their own website[edit]

Someone using our organisation name and linking this name to their own website. Is there anyway our group can contact you privately regarding this matter ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grave-matters (talkcontribs) 20:20, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. In principle there are some email addresses that could be used but they are not for issues like this. If wanted, you could visit my talk page (see my signature at the end of this) and click "email this user" and send me a message spelling out the details. I will not reply by email but will post generic information at User talk:Grave-matters telling you whether what you want is possible. Your contributions shows which articles you have edited. The external link added at Warstone Lane Cemetery does not satisfy the external links guideline and that is why it was removed. Johnuniq (talk) 01:40, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I would like to update our company's logo on the Wikipedia page for Drury Hotels. Can you please help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlsch19 (talkcontribs) 20:44, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A good place to visit is Wp:FFU, where this is a common request.--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:24, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
