  • Hi SB, as has been told to you before, if any of your edits (like this one, in this case) cause the article's structure to break, and if you don't believe you have the capacity to correct the error (which are in most cases very simple errors that you can correct yourself), then you should use the UNDO button to undo the mistakes you have created within the article. In this particular case, you had missed out a "<" before one of the <ref> tags. Thanks, Lourdes 06:07, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Analyse the lyrics[edit]

Please, can someone analyse the lyrics from this song? The song is in Russian, Chechen, and Ingush. It is the anthem of the Chechen Ingush ASSR.

The first and last verse had been discovered. Can someone help the second and third verse?

Looking for Redlinks that meet a regex.[edit]

I'd like to find out the top 100 redlinks in mainspace where what is linked is entirely formed of spelled out greek letters. So Phi Mu Mu Epsilon or Epsilon Epsilon. I currently am able to get a list of the articles that fit the regex at https://tools.wmflabs.org/grep/index.php?lang=en&project=wikipedia&namespace=0&pattern=%5E%28%28Alpha%7CBeta%7CGamma%7CDelta%7CEpsilon%7CZeta%7CEta%7CTheta%7CIota%7CKappa%7CLambda%7CMu%7CNu%7CXi%7COmicron%7CPi%7CRho%7CSigma%7CTau%7CUpsilon%7CPhi%7CChi%7CPsi%7COmega%29+%7B0%2C1%7D%29*%24 , but I don't know of a tool where I can enter a regex and find redlinks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naraht (talkcontribs) 14:10, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox colour change[edit]

I just noticed that the Template:Infobox military conflict has switched to a lighter shade of blue, And this change seems to have been very recent: Page on August 23rd, Page on August 27th.

I could not find any change in Template:Infobox military conflict or on Module:Infobox military conflict, Or any talk page that explained when or why this change occurred, And neither of these templates seem to have been recently edited. What i want to know is when or why this change occured, And why is it invisible on the Template edit histories? Koopinator (talk) 14:20, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Writing about ourself[edit]

Hello I work at the College for Creative Studies and as such it's my job to write about the college and it's history. I posted factual information about the college and it's been taking down repeatedly by one of your editors claiming copyright infringement. My question is how can I be infringing on copyrights when the copy I'm provided is original to me? Yes its on the College site, but I wrote that copy and I'm sharing it on Wikipedia. So how can I infringe on my own copy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpopiolek (talkcontribs) 15:01, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Before you make any further edits you need to make the mandatory decalaration regarding your paid editing, and also read about conflict of interest. If you wish to donate a copyright which you hold, having understood the implications of doing so, please read about donating copyrighted material. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:06, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It would be worth your while reading the advice you had already been given on these topics, on your user talk page. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:09, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • To answer your specific copyright question, if you are in fact the original creator, you did not violate copyright law. However, Wikipedia has no simple way to verify your identity, and we found a copyrighted version of the same text on the web under a non-free copyright, so you violatd our policies, not the law. We cannot know that you intended to release it for use under the CC-BY-SA, as we require. The easiest way to resolve this is to update the school web page with a CC-BY-SA copyright notice, which allows anyone to copy it, with attribution. If you do not wish to allow everyone to copy it, then we do not want it on Wikipedia. -Arch dude (talk) 17:07, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors/Cite error included ref[edit]

Please will someone simply ...add the correct cite.

The information comes from the official report, published in 1979. That report is mentioned in many newspaper articles, such as Buffalo Evening News, 1979.

Info can be verified by calling SUNY School of Architecture. Dean's Office. 716 829 5985 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.234.164 (talk) 15:40, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How to deal with an obvious sock with an unknown master[edit]

So earlier I noticed this user, who appears to not be on his first account. Before he was blocked, he made a few constructive additions of disambiguation templates and categories, then got involved with an edit war and was blocked in short order. I knew full well this was a sock when all this was going on of course - new users don't do any of what I described, in general, and the username is certainly odd as well. Only trouble is I had no idea what to do because I have no idea who the sockmaster here was! What should I do in the future when faced with these scenarios? If you are operating on a hunch, then AGF. If you have actionable evidence, file a report at SPI. If you have confirmatory evidence, then contact a checkuser directly. Lourdes 17:59, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

any lawyers here on copyright-themes?[edit]

Following copied from talk page Eagleash (talk) 18:37, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, dear all. I'm currently writing an article on the artist George Pusenkoff. In 1995 he had a copyright dispute with the photographer Helmut Newton, which Pusenkoff won. For my german article in which i refer to this lawsuit i found two kind wikipedians, who knew all about rightholderissues and could proofread my passage on this subject, whether i explained everything not only in "normal language", but also did use the "legal terms" correctly. I would be glad if i could find someone here, who is able to do the same for the english legal terms, once i've translated it. Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 18:19, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Odinic Rite[edit]

I notice a number of inaccurate and possibly defamatory references to myself, Ralph Harrison, have been included on the article entitled "Odinic Rite". I have removed these. I have no interest in making any other amendments or corrections to the "Odinic Rite" page, but I do insist that no mendacious references to me either by name or otherwise be made on this site. Thank you.

Ralph Harrison — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.144.79.50 (talk) 19:44, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The two paragraphs you deleted from Odinic Rite were both unreferenced (that is, they did note cite any reliable published sources, or indeed any at all), so you were justified in removing them. Maproom (talk) 19:51, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Large Edits to Page[edit]

I was asked to update the webpage for the head of our company, whose page is quite out of date. However, every time I add new information, it gets removed. Do you have any advice on how to make significant changes that won't be removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.65.245.220 (talk) 20:29, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the Wikipedia pages on Conflict of Interest and Paid Editing. In short, you shouldn't be editing the page directly as an employee, but suggested changes pasted on the talk page should be done.Naraht (talk) 20:37, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback Rights[edit]

Exactly how do I obtain rollback rights? I have the correct prerequisite number of edits for this privilege. And yet, my last request was denied on the fgrounds that I haven’t done enough anti-vandalism work, despite the fact that I did hundreds of that stuff in 2014, and did a little recently as well. Please could ou help me with this issue. Thank you. Pablothepenguin (talk) 21:35, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pablothepenguin: You need to get more recent experience with fighting vandalism, as the commenter in your request said [4]. You can enroll in the Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism_Unit/Academy to get more experience in this area. RudolfRed (talk) 22:09, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have come close to madness in the past, trying to get one of the guys at the CVU to accept me as a student, they’re either too busy or can’t be bothered. I need real help and I want to know why my 2014 efforts aren’t being acknowledged!? Also what about this years work?? Pablothepenguin (talk) 22:34, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Could I get a response, please? Pablothepenguin (talk) 22:58, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pablothepenguin: I have very little knowledge of counter-vandalism areas, criteria for granting rollback etc. but I strongly suggest you reconsider your attitude. Calling rollback a privilege and saying (essentially) that you are somehow entitled to it reeks of hat collection, which will surely be held against you in your attempts to get the permission.
This being said: you do not need to go through mentoring at CVU to start doing counter-vandalism. You do need to be aware of our policies, and be prepared to learn if you do something silly while still learning the ropes, but otherwise it is a fairly easy area to start with, I think. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Vandalism#For_beginners (a short and good guide) and then hack away at Special:RecentChanges. For instance this filter list will identify mostly bad edits (the software can reasonably well find bad edits, but there are a couple false positives so manual review is still needed.) question about region label for Template:Coord[edit]

According to https://dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/locateCoord.py?site=enwiki&globe=&lat1=22.095871&lat2=22.340795&lon1=113.480735&lon2=113.609265 , some articles, like Nova Park, Our Lady of Carmel Church, Macau, Bank of China Building, Macau, and One Central are mistakenly labelled with the region of CN for their coordinates. However, when I enter those articles and tries to change them, it seems like there are no pre-existing information about region located within those articles. However, clicking on the coordinate listed within those articles, the generated link do include the "region:CN" variable in it. Where did all these erroneous information come from? C933103 (talk) 21:56, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at Template:Infobox building you'll see that it picks up the parameter location_country and uses that for the region. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:30, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be an incorrect assumption on the part of those who designed the template this way that made them incorrectly believed that the country of an location would always equal to the region of the location... While it is helpful for most pages that use this template, it's problematic for those pages with location inside territories that are not integrated to countries that they belongs to... Helping a disabled user[edit]

Hello. I have a friend who is disabled by arthritis and cannot use a keyboard for anything more than a few words. Can we open an account for him that is managed by me on his behalf, in addition to running my own account? If so, what conditions must we observe? Thanks. Izzat Kutebar (talk) 22:42, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have MS and also find it hard to type.... as a result I use a lot of speech to text software that serves me well. I suggest looking to this option first.--Moxy (talk) 22:46, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @Moxy: he has tried STT but is very uncomfortable with it, again for medical reasons, and I'm afraid it isn't an option. I'm glad it works for you, of course. Thank you. Izzat Kutebar (talk) 23:05, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In that cases best to bring this up at Wikipedia talk:Sock puppetry ....it's not covered by our current policy.....but exceptions can always be made.--Moxy (talk) 23:11, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll ask there. Thanks again. Izzat Kutebar (talk) 23:12, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Izzat Kutebar—I see your question was not answered at Wikipedia talk:Sock puppetry. Why not try WP:TEA? Bus stop (talk) 00:06, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, @Bus stop: another admin has suggested a forum called the idea lab so I'll try that first. Thanks again. Izzat Kutebar (talk) 00:27, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
