Capitalized title?[edit]

M-tp M-TP is supposedly be stylized as m-tp M-TP. So should we change the article's title to m-tp M-TP too? Beyoncetan 2 (talk) 00:19, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The cover is ambiguous and looks more like M-Tp M-TP with different font sizes but official sources like [1] say m-tp M-TP. I have changed the lead to this.[2] A real article name cannot start with a lowercase letter but it can be displayed at top of the article (not at top of the diff). Other places like categories and search results will still say M-tp M-TP. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:43, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Be a pál[edit]

Regarding Pál, where does the mysterious and outdated Category:Redirects with short description lurk? Clarityfiend (talk) 00:21, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's gone after a purge. Your latest edit [3] changed it from a redirect and added {{given name}}. That template checks whether the last saved version is a redirect, and it was a redirect when your edit was processsed. At the time of my purge, the last saved version had changed to your version. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:16, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I closed and reopened my browser, but that didn't work. Thanks. Clarityfiend (talk) 04:43, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How do we get to register a change influencer on wiki[edit]

Kindly advise on how to get an influencer on wikipaedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.218.208.161 (talk) 10:42, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please elaborate? I'm not entirely sure what you mean right now. LittlePuppers (talk) 10:43, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, IP user. If you mean, how can you write an article about a person, then please see WP:Your first article, paying special heed to the advice on notability, promotion and (if relevant) conflict of interest. Note that "change influencer" appears to be a bit of marketing puff, and is therefore out of place in any Wikipedia article - articles should be a neutral summary of what independent commentators have published about the subject. If your purpose in coming here is to tell the world about your "change influencer", get an online presence for them, or in any way promote them, then please find an outlet other than Wikipedia. --ColinFine (talk) 11:18, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Menlo School Edit Reverted[edit]

Hello,

I was wondering why my edit was removed for not being constructive. I simply updated the descriptions of academic programs that were changed by the school, and I cited the school's website where the information is stated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beninato8 (talkcontribs) 15:27, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How do I add a new company logo to the Infobox logo section?[edit]

Hi there,

I'm trying to update the logo shown for Benenden Health on the following page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benenden_Health infobox template.

They've recently updated their logo but when I try to use the update logo form, I don't have the required access as I'm neither Administrator, autoconfirmed or confirmed user status.

Can I ask how this can be done please?

--Newben1905 (talk) 16:03, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Newben1905: A user has uploaded a new version of File:Benenden health logo.png. You will be autoconfirmed when you make three more edits. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:40, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Frequent unneeded use of webarchive links[edit]

Not an issue for Help desk/Archives. Referred elsewhere

User:SheriffIsInTown has been adding "webarchive" links to many references in many articles. The webarchive links are almost always for original links that still work. An example is given below (from the article Goldbach's conjecture). The first paragraph displays the reference before the webarchive link was added; the second paragraph displays the reference after the webarchive link was added.

Sinisalo, Matti K. (Oct 1993). "Checking the Goldbach Conjecture up to 4 1011" (PDF). Mathematics of Computation. 61 (204): 931–934. doi:10.2307/2153264.

Sinisalo, Matti K. (Oct 1993). "Checking the Goldbach Conjecture up to 4 1011" (PDF). Mathematics of Computation. 61 (204): 931–934. doi:10.2307/2153264. Archived (PDF) from the original on 2017-08-29.

The title of the paper is linked. The link is valid; so there is currently no need for an archive link.

The journal, Mathematics of Computation, is a major journal; so it seems likely that the original link will be valid for long into the future. Moreover, if the original link were ever to break, someone could just go to the internet archive and find the archived version; so there seems to be negligible advantage in putting in a archive link now.

I think the addition of the archive link clutters the reference. The archive link also made the reference confusing for me, as I at first thought that the original link was broken. Additionally, using the archive link for many references significantly increases the length of the article: for several articles edited by SheriffIsInTown, the article length has been increased by many kilobytes.

I raised some of my concerns with SheriffIsInTown; s/he replied that adding the archive links was pursuant to WP:LINKROT. Afterward, however, User:Boghog pointed out that WP:LINKROT is not a policy or even a guideline.

I believe that adding the archive links has negative value, and that WP:LINKROT is seriously misguided. But, I am just one editor. What do other editors think?

TheSeven (talk) 18:23, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have stopped adding the archive links after the message by Boghog, my last edit archiving the links was at 16:08 today, this was also discussed at ANI recently and most admins considered it appropriate while OP was blocked due to a filing of a frivolous report so I continued but stopping now after these complaints, I have no intention to keep bothering the folks, if you think it is not appropriate, there is a lot more to do on Wikipedia than saving links from linkrot. Very and much glad for this! With kind wishes, TheSeven (talk) 18:58, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Just to clear, I am not opposed to all backup archive links, for example when there is reason to believe that the web site won't be around very long. But I do think these links should be added very selectively. Cheers. Boghog (talk) 19:26, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Help with a collapsible list?[edit]

I was trying to put my "redirects created" section in a collapsible list, but after I made it, it moved near the bottom of the page. I was wondering if anyone could help me or explain why it moved? Or help me move it to where it should be?

On a slightly unrelated note, is it possible to change the color of the collapsed bar? Thanks in advance! ⇒ Lucie Person (talk) 22:55, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
