2019 National Inivitational Tournament Article[edit]

Can you fix the reference in the article please I would accept it please. 68.103.78.155 (talk) 03:06, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there; I believe you're talking about the 2019 National Invitational Tournament page. Would you be able to explain a bit more precisely what you mean? It's been accepted now; are you saying you need help finding more refs besides the one? Thanks, --SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 03:11, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The IP created some confusion by signing later with a new time stamp. The issue with a missing |title= was fixed [1] between the original post and the signature. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:17, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May we create Direct Download Links to files on an external site?[edit]

Hello, I've been hunting this answer for some time but I can't find a solution. I would like to create a direct download link to a file present on another website, specifically a supplementary file that a link on an NIH paper lets you download with one click. I'm a novice at programming, but when I inspect the link I see it is a .docx element. All I want to do is copy the link as it is on the paper onto my page; I don't know how its element means I should approach the link. @Secretkeeper12: Our syntax allows you to use any valid URL. Your use of the term "download" raises an issue. A link on Wikipedia is supposed to be for a reference that a reader may wish to refer to, not to something strange like an application program, etc, and the readable text of the citation that you use to cite the link should properly describe the link's content. If that's what you are trying to accomplish but you are not sure what a link does, you might wish to test it first, e.g., on your own user page, just to make sure your link does in fact pull up the page you are citing and not some strange intermediate the host site is serving. -Arch dude (talk) 17:38, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit removed[edit]

Hi, I have recently joined wikipedia. I was trying to add few points on that particular page, but it seems it was removed. May I know the reason behind? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iachin (talkcontribs) 18:03, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Iachin: Hello, on the assumption that this relates to Bed bug, it would seem that your edit was removed for a couple of reasons. It was somewhat unencyclopedic both in tone and content and was unreferenced. There was one external link added but these are generally not permitted in article content and if in support of the content should be properly formatted in line with WP:REFB. I will leave some helpful links at your talk page. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 18:23, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Biographical articles needing pictures[edit]

I am an editor at Wikimedia. I remember seeing a list once givingWikipedia articles lacking photographs of the subject people. Can you direct me to that list? Thanks --Drbones1950 (talk) 20:06, 11 November 2018 (UTC)Drbones1950[reply]

@Drbones1950: You might have been looking through Category:Wikipedia requested images of people -- John of Reading (talk) 20:53, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New draft when redirect already exists[edit]

I'm sure this has been covered before, but can't find the answer: say I want to start creating a new article in the Draft: space when a redirect already exists. (say for a band member, which currently redirects to the band). Shouldn't something be done to the redirect also? To point anyone coming across the redirect to the Draft: in progress? (note that anyone clicking on a redlink where a Draft exists is notified of that fact). UnitedStatesian (talk) 21:36, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Several ways to handle this. You can replace the redirect with an article. You could draft that article in userspace or Draft space first and then copy it over. You should not send the Draft to AfC because ArCers can't accept the page easily and, for attribution reasons, will not copy it over the redirect. If a redirect exists there is no automatic way to advise of the draft. You might post about the draft on the redirect talkpage but few will be watching that. Also remember most band members should be covered on the band page per WP:NBAND Legacypac (talk) 22:01, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry: not creating any band member articles, that was just an example. :) But wouldn't retargeting the redirect so it points to the Draft:, or deleting the redirect, be a better solution while the Draft: is in process? UnitedStatesian (talk) 22:09, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Retargeting a mainspace redirect to a Draft is incorrect. The redirect would become speedy deletable. You might make a case a RFD to delete the redirect in favor of the DrFt being moved there. We don't want to send users following the redirect from search or an article to end up on an unvetted Draft. Legacypac (talk) 22:16, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, @Legacypac:, I discovered there is a template, {{Draft at}}, that can be added to the redirect (must be at the bottom, though) that solves my issue. Learn something new everyday, thanks for your help! UnitedStatesian (talk) 13:45, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As it says in the template documentation, that template is used in edit notices, and not for use directly on articles or redirects. We do not link from mainspace to the Draft namespace. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:06, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reference number 114 is in red. Please fix. What went wrong? Thankyou very much.180.150.21.186 (talk) 22:36, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The mark up reads 'accessdate November 122018' instead of 'accessdate=November 12, 2018'. Eagleash (talk) 23:27, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Problem - I have corrected the date as far as I can see - but the citation is still in red which is not good. Sorry. Please assist if able Srbernadette (talk) 23:34, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You did not add the '=' sign. Eagleash (talk) 00:18, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Got it - thanks
