Aimee Challenor Speedy delete - Chaos[edit]

OK. I'm kinda at a loss about this. An anon just added a speedy delete tag to Aimee Challenor. I've seen vandalism on the page, so I reverted, but realized I was kind of hasty so I dug deeper. I then discovered that the discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aimee Challenor in 2016 actually called for the article to be deleted, but... that never occurred. Instead, there was a change around that period that simply removed the tag.

I'm not comfortable with my removal of the tag, so I restored it. Not sure if the article deletion discussion should be reopened or the article deleted or the article kept.

Is there any way to get an admin or someone in authority to look at this? I'm a moderately experienced editor but I feel really out of my depth.

Deletions aren't recorded in the page history. The article was deleted in 2016, and then again in 2017, and then draftified through a DRV in August, and then moved back to mainspace one day later. There were no procedural errors, and what needs to happen now is for someone to determine whether the recreation meets G4 or not, and G4 it if appropriate.

Regardless, the IP's WP:PROD (not the same things as a speedy deletion) was invalid as articles can't be prodded after having an AfD. I'm going to revert it. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 02:11, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Subject of article previously deleted has been in news quite a bit recently - locally and internationally: BBC, New York Times, etc. I believe article/subject merits a Wikipedia entry. How can I retrieve old, deleted article and edit it?

Cocktail and cocktail related pages[edit]

The user doctorx0079 has assured me he is going to revert any edit i make to the cocktail pages because he shows an obvious bias towards a particular author. His bias effects the integrity of the pages, seeing as they are wildly inaccurate. He has already promised to revert, ehat is there to discuss? They refuse to read legitimate references while buying into completely false ones. Like the chicago tribune from 1888 democracy in trouble, which is referenced atleast a DOZEN times does not EXIST. The page exist, but what he says is on the page is complete fabrication, even chicago tribune themselves say they dont have access, so how does he? He lied. Call them and tell me im lying. Not just that but any reference david wondrich makes is like that. He also makes his own edits like "the worlds most premuer cocktail historian" who the fuck talks like that unless they are narcissistic and talking about themselves. Whats worse is because of wikipedia everyone believes him blindly.

The message this IP left on that user's talkpage was inflammatory, including "dipshit", and was redacted by another editor before I got there. Sissinghurst Castle Garden - Help with a plan/diagram[edit]

I am working on an expansion of the above. It really needs a plan/diagram to help readers understand the layout of the castle and the surrounding gardens. Something like this, [1] would be ideal. However, I suspect that is a copyright infringement, as it appears to be a, very slightly reworked, mirror image of a plan that appears on the inside front cover of the 2008 National Trust guide. Does Wikipedia have anywhere that one can request a plan/diagram be drawn? I'm afraid it's far beyond my limited technical ability. Thanks in advance. Can I reference printed materials?[edit]

Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm hosting an editathon soon. I have lots of printed materials / physical books / magazines / newspaper cuttings that could be useful for our editathon. Do materials referenced in wikipedia articles have to be available online, or can we reference printed resources? I also have subscription-only online journals and magazines, can we reference those even if Wikipedia readers may not be able to access the resource? Vbenguiat girlscode, I suggest that you use the cite book or cite journal templates as indicated in that article. We don't normally give url links to journal abstracts, only full text. What are you referring to? There is no photo in the article Asia Cup. If you refer to the "In the news" section at Main Page then the current photo File:Ibrahim Mohamed Solih - Maldives (cropped).jpg belongs to the item "Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (pictured) is elected President of the Maldives." Changing text in bracket[edit]

Consider the template [Template:BBKL]. In that template, the text 'in German' is written inside brackets. I would like to know the changes that needs to be made If I need to display it in reverse form ie. 'German in'. I am not going to make any changes in English wikipedia but in another wikipedia. Hello, Adithyak1997. I'm afraid that string is generated deep inside the Template code: I think it is in a LUA module. If you look at the source of the template Template:BBKL, you will see that it collects parameters, and passes them to Template:cite book, including the parameter "language = de". If you look at the documentation for that template, it says "language: The language in which the source is written. Displays in parentheses with "in" before the language name or names. Use the full language name or ISO 639-1 code. When the source uses more than one language, list them individually, separated by commas, e.g. |language=French, German."

But if you "View source" for that template, you will see that there is very little Wikimarkup code there: it simply calls a module:

If you are successfully using the template in another Wikipedia, then the underlying template and module have presumably been ported to that Wikipedia. If it is generating some of the text in English rather than the language of the Wikipedia, then that part has not been translated, and it would be a public service for you to correct it. But I'm afraid you will need to learn how to edit Lua modules to make the change. (Also, that template and module may be protected: they certainly are in the English Wikipedia, because they are used in so many places, that a mistake in editing could break thousands of articles). --ColinFine (talk) 17:10, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Different wikis have different templates. It may not work the same way in another wiki. Template:BBKL uses Template:Cite book which uses Module:Citation/CS1 which uses Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration where the line ['language'] = '(in $1)', is used to produce 'in German'. ['language'] = '($1 in)', would produce 'German in' at Template:BBKL and lots of other places. Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration is used in 3.9 million English pages and many of them have a language parameter. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:28, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict)The template and config are copied from here. You're seem to be active at ml.wiki and you need to edit the config at ml:Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration. Hello, Awubakkar. I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you wish to write a neutral, factual, article about somebody (not yourself), based on reliable published sources, you are most welcome; but it is a difficult task, and I would recommend that you spend some time editing existing articles first. Please see your first article.
