Bobby Sherman.

In the section about Mr. Sherman's personal life, a paragragh has been added claiming same sex relationships. One citation was added as if a book about Sal Mineo that implied they had a relationship. However as I read that chapter about Mr. Sherman, I found many contradictions that in my opinion invalidated the information being included. Two other names were included without verifiable citations. These unsubstantiated statements shoukd be removed immediately as they are libelous and harmful to the living person, Bobby Sherman. His fans found thus recently and were disturbed about its content. Mr. Sherman has worked hard all if his life to maintain a good personal reputation. While same sex relationships are more accepted in this day and age, there are still small, closed minds about the subject. The Bobby Sherman edit screen should include the editnotice box that explains the Biographies of living persons policy (which see), and includes: "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately..."  I don't know how to edit editnotice page -- presumably that requires an admin. —107.15.157.44 (talk) 04:57, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Copied-text template

Hi, we have a template for use on talk pages that says something like "Content on this page was copied from another page, so that page is part of this page's history, and in order to maintain attribution, the other page must not be deleted unless this one is." Any idea what it is? I didn't see it in Category:Copyright maintenance templates (but that's apparently only for problems, not other situations), or in Category:Wikipedia copyright templates, or in Category:Wikipedia article copyright templates, or in Category:Attribution templates. Content Deleted? not promotional

Hello,

We as an organization have been updating our Wikipedia page so that the info on the page is accurate. However, much of our content was recently deleted and we received a message that it was deleted because it appeared promotional in nature- however, all of the content we've been adding is factual in nature about our organization. Much of what was deleted was links to individuals who serve on our Advisory Board, as these individuals play a crucial role in our organization.

How can we ensure this does not happen again?

Eric fischerPCA I would note that your organization does not have a "Wikipedia page" here; there is an article about your organization here. As you have a conflict of interest, you need to review and comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID. Huntingburg, Indiana

The article Huntingburg, Indiana doesn't say that the stadium was built by Columbia Pictures, it says they "built the grandstand." This unreferenced statement seems like an oversimplification of the referenced statement in the article League Stadium: ". . . adding additional seating to the park while maintaining the original grandstand." I note, however, that this is sourced to the International Movie Database, which I believe is not regarded as a Reliable source because it (like Wikipedia itself) has user-generated content.

Since you are evidently familiar with the subject of both articles, you are probably well placed to find and cite alternative Reliable sources on which to base amendments to the articles' texts. Remember, however, that such sources must be used, rather than your own knowledge which cannot be consulted by others. Strictly, since you have challenged the statement in the first article and the second uses an unreliable source, both statements should be removed pending verification by a Reliable source. line colour

its regarding the metro line colours of kolkata metro. the line colours were changed, but the changes dont appear in that line's infobox in SERVICES section. why? Saha ( talk ) 17:47, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

I am talking about services in Infobox station. The colour given here in the station article, doesnt match with the line colour of that station. i hope its understandable now. @Researchguy: In Wikipedia articles you will see contributors' names in the page history, click on the word 'talk' (in blue next to the name of the editor you wish to contact). This will take you to their talk page where you can leave a message. Or you could use {{ping|'their username'}} at the article talk page (which might be preferable when it comes to discussions about improving an article). Eagleash (talk) 19:07, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia Page

A relative is a former elected official and noted that there is a Wikipedia page about him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliott_Naishtat He would like to know who authored the page, and would like to edit it himself. He says some of the information is incorrect, and there are updates now. He asked me to research the process. Thank you for your help.

Thank you a lot for asking. In general, people should not edit their own pages, as they have a Conflict of Interest, as do you as a relative. The best thing to do is to use Edit Requests (go to the link for more info) on the talk page for the article including published references for the change in information. As to the author of the page, it has been edited by a number of users, you can see the changes at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Elliott_Naishtat&action=history . The single user who seems to have contributed the most is Mbcoats, and those edits seem to be referenced. Naraht (talk) 18:45, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

help adding content

Hello...

I'm trying to add myself to the list of prolific inventors: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prolific_inventors) as I have over 200 patents, but when I try, it tells me my updates are flagged as promotional. Jedrankin You don't. List articles are only for listing those who have Wikipedia articles, not for listing every possible member of the list. If you merit a Wikipedia article(see the notability criteria) someone will take note of you and write it. It is strongly advised that you not write about yourself, see WP:AUTO. A Wikipedia article is not necessarily desirable, either. 331dot (talk) 21:28, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

331dot While he should not write about himself on WP, he gave sources from the official websites of US and EU patent list. And most of the inventors on this page don't have their own WP article. Content deleted. Reason given "rv self-sourcing"?

I did a lot of edits to the PTL Satellite Network page all of which got obliterated, the edits included citations and I didn't link to any blogs. The user only gave this explanation "rv self-sourcing", does anybody know what that means? It seems the other editor may have gone overboard with their reversion of your edits, as PTL is considered a reliable source for that type of material. By self-sourcing I assume the editor meant you provided a source for the PTL article with a source from the PTL website. Ie, it is not a third-party source. First-party sources are generally allowed but do not establish notability and can be challenged re accuracy. I would talk to the editor who removed your edits. Please see WP:RS and WP:PRIMARY. We require sources concerning companies and organizations that are independent of the company or organization being written about. In this context, "self-sourcing" means attempting to use a source produced and controlled by the same organization that is being discussed at the source, which means it is not independent, hence potentially unreliable. As I am currently creating a book for the original tale to promote more both the original version of these fairytales as well as my own artwork, I found this version of the story through my reasearch which seems to be the closest version of the original tale as it says that this is the Mary Howitt 1899 translation, and I wish to stay as close to the original version of the tale as possible.

I wish to clarify that a) I am right in understanding that I can use this text directly for my publishing, and b) since, rightfully, I am required to mention the 'appropriate credit', what is the exact specific credit I am to use as I am not quite sure if it is Wikisource, or if there is a mentioned author who uploaded this text on Wikisource whom I cannot seem to find...this is a bit confusing and I wish to know how to apply it so that I give all credit where it's due.

The Fairy Tales of Hans Christian Andersen are not under creative common as the author died in 1875, and the English translator Mary Howitt died in 1888. It's in the Public domain. Azerty82 (talk) 21:24, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

page removal

Hi I was wondering if you could remove and article from the Wikipedia site and that article is the Tom and Jerry nutcracker tale because of a lot of people including myself because of the way that Warner Bros has treated the Hannah Barbera properties like the upcoming banana splits horror movie that no one cares about plus that fact that no one cares about a Tom and Jerry Nutcracker crossover movie heck they even title it as an original movie when its not its just a recycled version of the Nutcracker with Tom and Jerry thrown in so it doesn't count as an original movie. So in order to avoid these kinds of criticism with these kinds of movies, I think that it is best to remove the article from Wikipedia for their own good plus this movie will become obscure in a couple of years and everyone will forget about it. Hello Mlgpin. Wikipedia articles are not removable for the reasons you have stated, being that you and perhaps others dislike what Warner is doing with the old Hanna-Barbera properties. Sorry, but Wikipedia does not judge articles by the standards you suggest.

However, if WP:Reliable sources have written about this controversy, you may add a section about it to the article.--Quisqualis (talk) 03:33, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
