A lot of misinformation[edit]

Respected Sir/Ma'am,

The page https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Karma&gettingStartedReturn=true has a lot of mis/disinformation. And the option to edit the page is disabled. How do I go about editing the page with the correct information(with cited sources)?[[1]] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Samapriya (talkcontribs) 01:01, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Samapriya, you can submit an edit request on Talk:Karma. Indeed, you should see a blue "submit an edit request" button when you try to edit the page. Eman235/talk 01:13, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

redlink category[edit]

Hope (The Chainsmokers song) is in a redlink category (Singlechart usages for Romania). This is not an actual category in the article, but looks like a hidden category generated by some template. I'm not sure if the category should be created, or if this is an error in whatever is causing this. If anyone here can fix... MB 03:25, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It was caused by {{Single chart|Romania|...}}. I found the fix [2] after examining Template:Single chart#Singlechart usages for chartname and the other categories. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:52, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question about multiple accounts[edit]

I think is the best area for my question. But what is the state of having two accounts with a different role for both of them as that is the situation that I have. This is as my main account (this one) is for my edits and talks while my second account (HawkAussie) is mainly used for re-rating purposes and cleaning up the rating side of the wiki. Matt294069 (talk) 05:35, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's allowed by policy, as you have also made it clear on the userpage that you own both accounts. See WP:VALIDALT for more details on what's allowed and not. – Ammarpad (talk) 14:44, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks for that confirmation. Matt294069 (talk) 22:46, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An article named 'Sayed Babu'[edit]

I created an article about Bangladeshi Actor Sayed Babu. My writing was not published due to lack of notability. But he's notable as far as I know. His co-workers have wikipedia pages of their own. And I thought he also deserve one. So, please help me in this regard how can I create an article about him that will be published. And, also he is not related to me. I'm just an avid fan. Thanks. I'll wait for your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShahriarKib (talkcontribs) 05:17, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Notable" is used here in a special Wikipedia sense of "has been written about at length in independent reliable sources". See WP:Notability for details. All you have to do is find those sources and use them as references. See WP:Referencing for beginners. If you cannot find those sources, then you cannot prove notability and Wikipedia cannot have an article. Dbfirs 07:41, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@ShahriarKib: A note that you should read WP:NACTOR was left when the page was declined. Unfortunately you removed that note together with the declinature notice. Please do not remove AfC review notices. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 07:45, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring with no discussion[edit]

I started a talk discussion and no one has responded. I and an IP address are reverting each other. I think the IP address also has a username. I do not know what to do. The IP address/user has not responded to discussion attempts. The page is Syro-Malabar Catholic Church.Manabimasu (talk) 05:18, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Manabimasu: You are doing the right thing so far. Now, follow the process in WP:DISPUTE. Your next step is to ask for a third opinion. -Arch dude (talk) 14:55, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Since visiting this page earlier this week (and getting excellent advice) I have been looking at what the regular editors have to cope with by way of incoming queries, and I should like to put it on record that I think they do an amazingly fine job, without the recognition they deserve. I wish to add a bit of recognition here. Superb service to Wikipedia. Thank you all, Tim riley talk 14:22, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you too. – Ammarpad (talk) 14:45, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Hello how are you doing? I wanted to know if you could change my artist name from MrShowDemBoys To OneDeep. My artist name has ALWAYS been OneDeep. And why isn't my artist name listed in the HOUSTON & TEXAS list of artist???? Thanks.

OneDeep Texas Rangers Entertainment 713 757 2600 — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrShowDemBoys (talkcontribs) 14:36, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. OneDeep isn't included in List of Houston rappers because Wikipedia doesn't have an article about OneDeep. Lists on Wikipedia are primarily navigational aids to help people find articles on those topics. I'm not sure what you mean by "change my artist name". Do you mean change the username that you use to log into Wikipedia? If so, see Wikipedia:Changing username, although since you only have 2 edits it might be easier to just create a new account. Lastly, if you want/intend to write about yourself here on Wikipedia, please read Wikipedia:Autobiography very carefully. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 14:44, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Including a template[edit]

Dear Administrators/help desk

I am interested in including a template that has the symbols : V.T.E at the top left corner, can someone please explain to me simply how I can include a template with v.t.e to a page I am currently editing ?

Regards Archaeologist02 (talk) 16:13, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Archaeologist02. Those templates are called Navigational templates, and you can find more about them from that link. In essence, you need to find the name of the particular navigational template you want, and just include it in the article between double curly brackets. To find the name of the particular navigational template, first find another article that already contains it, and Edit (or View Source) that article, and look for the particular "navbox" template in the source of the article. --ColinFine (talk) 16:39, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Hello Archaeologist02, those "V•T•E" are a part of the template, so if you want to include Template:Kumanovo on your page, you just add the text {{Kumanovo}} to your page (or if you're using the VisualEditor you can go to Insert > Template > Kumanovo). – Þjarkur (talk) 16:42, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Archaeologist02: You started Template:Archaeological sites with several errors in the code. The name implies it's a general template for archaeological sites but the link to Skopska Crna Gora indicates you were trying to do something more specific. Can I delete Template:Archaeological sites as a test? The formulation of your question suggests that you want to include an already existing template in a specific page. Are you actually trying to create a new template you want to include? PrimeHunter (talk) 10:11, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Religion/ethnicity editing[edit]

Hi all! I read A Mother's Reckoning by Sue Klebold and I'm not sure it's either accurate or true to brand and categorize Dylan Klebold as "American Jew", I mean, he was born to a Jewish mother but he was a Lutheran. I have total ignorance of Judaism and if a Jewish Wikipedian answers would be awesome. Is he still a Jew regardless of his Lutheran beliefs? Very kind regards. --LLcentury (talk) 16:23, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

LLcentury, I'm not seeing where Wikipedia does categorize him as an "American Jew". There is nothing like that in the infobox, categories, or text of the article. Where are you seeing that? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:44, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Hello, LLcentury. I can't find the word "Jew" anywhere in the article A Mother's Reckoning (or in recent versions of it). What are you referring to?
But, to address your main question: if you are asking about Wikipedia policy, then Wikipedia does not make this sort of judgment. If a reliable source describes him as a Jew, then a Wikipedia article may do so. If a reliable source says he was Lutheran, then a Wikipedia article may do so - but in either case, it is then an editorial decision (by consensus of editors who express a view) whether or not it is appropriate to mention either or both of these in the article. But if a source cannot be found for one or both of the claims, then that claim or claims should definitely not go in an article.
If you are asking not about Wikipedia policy, but the more general question, the answer is that "Jew" has several meanings, which don't all necessarily go together: see Jews. --ColinFine (talk) 16:58, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was not clear, please search only "Dylan Klebold", not the main duo article with Harris, and there's he's categorized as "American Jews" and "Americans of Russian-Jewish descent". That's what I'm confused about. Very kind regards. --LLcentury (talk) 17:14, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@LLcentury: There is no standalone article Dylan Klebold, it redirects to the article section Eric_Harris_and_Dylan_Klebold#Dylan_Klebold. Please provide a link to the article you have a question about. If you are seeing something in Google search, it may not be from Wikipedia. RudolfRed (talk) 17:47, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, sorry for so much annoying, this is what I'm referring to Dylan Klebold --LLcentury (talk) 17:50, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see, the redirect is in Category:American Jews and Category:American people of Russian-Jewish descent. I think he would still be ethnically Jewish, even if he did not practice the Jewish faith. That said, categories should represent defining features of a person. How central was his Jewish heritage to his identity and what he's known for? I'm not sure it's appropriate for that particular individual. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 18:02, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rookwood Pottery Page[edit]

Hi I would like to make an edit, or for someone to make an edit on images for the Rookwood Pottery page. I think it could include more images and there is one that is not as characteristic of Rookwood pottery work ( Japonisme in 1884 -'Birds and Wild Grass' Teacup and Saucer by Albert Valentine ) that could be replaced. There are other examples of Japonisme that are more characteristic of the vessel forms made by Rookwood Pottery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rookwood_Pottery_Company
