May 28[edit]

Hello, I can prove it[edit]

Hi!, we're having a mess with the death date of George Beauchamp (sailor), but I can prove his death date by the National Archives of the UK, but can't really afford the payment. Please, I am not asking Wikipedia to pay for it, just asking if there's a free form to access to that certificate. Best wishes. --LLcentury (talk) 11:00, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That would be a primary source. Wikipedia prefers secondary sources that are easily available for checking. Has no newspaper printed an obituary? Dbfirs 11:10, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dbfirs, yes, some say he died during World War II in 1944, (mostly the newspapers), but the books I cited say he died April 5 1965. I am so confused. Thanks. --LLcentury (talk) 11:12, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, yes, I see that you have already discussed this and found some good sources. I'd leave the article as it is with the references for 1965, but if anyone challenges this, then we should report alternative sources. Dbfirs 11:19, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect, and one last question I promise, when is the tag removable? Does it continue to be disputed? Best wishes and please my apologies for lack of experience on editing and lack of good English language skills. Best wishes. --LLcentury (talk) 11:24, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Depends. Justlettersandnumbers, you added the tags, are they still valid? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:03, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I believe so, Gråbergs Gråa Sång – there are two conflicting sets of birth-date/age-on-Titanic/death-date data, but only one set is in our page, so its factual accuracy is questionable; I've seen no reliable source that actually states that he was on the Lusitania (also note that sources such as the Independent which report that claim by his family also have him dying in 1944). The sourcing is not good – websites such as www.operahouseplayers.org and wrecksite.eu have copied from encyclopedia-titanica.org, which appears to be user-submitted content; more citations are anyway surely needed. I didn't add the "hoax" tag, but it was added because of the poor text–source integrity, which has been partly remedied. LLcentury, it would be really, really helpful if you would keep all discussion of this article in the place designed for that purpose, Talk:George Beauchamp (sailor); repeatedly starting a new conversation on a new page does not really help anyone, including you. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:42, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Removed articile[edit]

In 2005 I read an article on Knights of Columbus tactics; this apparently has been removed, can you tell me why. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.241.193.159 (talk) 11:55, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes we can, if you can tell us the exact title of the article. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 12:22, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes an article gets renamed on Wikipedia. Other times, an article gets incorporated into an article on a related topic. I would suggest that you peruse the article Knights of Columbus and its Talk page to see whether the material you seek may have found a home there. Wikipedia in 2019 is very different from the Wikipedia of 2005.

Also, the Internet Archive for 2005 may have the article. Search for it on that site.--Quisqualis (talk) 05:19, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

QUESTION[edit]

Hello! I am SIBOMANA William,

I want to know how i can join Wikipedia — Preceding unsigned comment added by SIBOMANA WILLIAM1989 (talkcontribs)

You have already created an account in the English-language Wikipedia; welcome to the project. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:36, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, SIBOMANA WILLIAM1989, and welcome to Wikipedia. As Orangemike says, you have created an account, and can now edit Wikipedia. If you mean, how can you get an article about yourself in Wikipedia, then the answer is, you can't. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, containing neutral articles about notable subjects, not social media where you can tell the world about yourself. Please study the messages that various people have put on your User Talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 16:28, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Citation formatting on Man Ray page[edit]

I am having trouble editing a citation on the Man Ray Wikipedia page. I tried to adapt the citation on the French Wiki page for Adrienne Fidelin, which clearly was not the way to go. Help correcting this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaw54 (talkcontribs)

note - article in question is Man Ray Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:28, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you are still experiencing the above problem, please let us know in greater detail what, exactly, the problem consists of. Thanks--Quisqualis (talk) 05:05, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
