By "a clean up page" do you mean a Wikiproject page containing a list of articles that need attention? Such a page can be edited like any other. —Tamfang (talk) 03:33, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects to a deleted page that was later restored[edit]

This is a follow-up to a discussion above. This article -- Clutter family murders -- was erroneously deleted ... and then restored. See above: Wikipedia:Help desk#Clutter family murders. Before it was deleted, the article used to have quite a few redirects, directing to it. Now, after the article was restored, all of these redirects seem to be gone. Is there some quick and easy way to restore all of these redirect links? Or, how can I found out exactly what the redirect titles were, so I can recreate them all over again? Thanks. Joseph A. AFAIK the only way would be to look in the deleting admins deletion log. Redirects to deleted pages are subject to Speedy deletion. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 05:17, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can an editor with a COI nominate an article for WP:GA review?[edit]

Uploading an old photo for article[edit]

So I was editing the article on Emanuele Grazzi and found a old photo which is in the public domain but I cannot upload it for some reason but look him up he Is a bald man with glasses dressed in a blackshirt uniform I would like to Upload that image. IS there any way I can?

There are several steps:

click on this link for the Wikimedia Commons
look in the area on the left for a link called "Upload file" and click it
follow the prompts
when it asks for a file name, change it to something useful. don't be afraid to type! "DCS0042.jpg" is 'not a good name. "Emanuele Grazzi.jpg" is much better. "Emanuele Grazzi at the opera in 1942.jpg" is even better

Note that this simply uploads the image. To place it in an article you have to add it, or change it if there's an existing image. To do so, Edit the article and look at any existing File: link and simply match it's syntax but with the new file name. Maury Markowitz (talk) 14:59, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Remembertienamen1989: The image you uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, commons:File:Emanuele Grazzi at the opera.jpg, has been tagged for deletion as you haven't explained why it's in the public domain. If it is deleted, however, it can be uploaded locally (i.e. to the English Wikipedia rather than to Commons), because per WP:NFCI non-free images of deceased people can be used in Wikipedia articles. You won't (yet) be able to upload it yourself, though, as editors whose accounts are less than four days old or who have less than ten edits can't upload files (you currently have eight edits). – Arms & Hearts (talk) 00:18, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to create a page with ALL CAPS name over existing redir[edit]

I'm writing a page that should be named "SNAP (programming language)". However, there is already a page called "Snap! (programming language)". It appears the system (or a user?) has created a redirect without the !, "Snap (programming language)".

I'm lost how to create a new page with the ALL CAPS name. When I try, wiki sends me to the redirect and then to Snap!. I can click back from the redir link, but that has sentence casing.

Try this link. Don't forget that if there are 2 articles which differ only in capitalisation, hatnotes are required, see WP:Naming conventions (capitalization)#Page names that differ only by capitalization. Warning template for not using edit summaries[edit]

Hello! I've been working on creating a template to warn users who don't use edit summaries, because I couldn't find a template for that. But before I create this template, I was wondering if anyone knows of a template that does the same thing? It seems kind of weird there isn't already a template for this. your editors[edit]

you should control your editors better, especially regarding alternative medicine. how many articles in this field are controlled by the Quackbust Stephen Barrett? Your articles are not just read by the Americans you know... but also many European where alternative medicine is recognized by the health system. I'm referring to articles such as that on Dr. Clark or on Bill Nelson. If you read an article and it only contains negative information from beginning to end, you should ask yourself a couple of questions, don't you thinK? ANd these articles report each the same link on "cancer methods that don't work"... really?? don't you ask yourself who's behind this, shouldn't it ring a bell?? Trials, court proceedings etc[edit]

Is there any policy or guideline regarding the coverage of ongoing high profile criminal court proceedings? Sometimes for example there is a high profile murder case involving otherwise non-notable people in which the court proceedings are widely reported in detail by the media. I have in mind Death of Grace Millane, which is currently before the courts in NZ in all its sordid detail. Seems to me the best thing to do is wait for a verdict then summarise the prosecution and defence cases while trying to respect the privacy of the deceased and her family. I think it would be in bad taste to give a blow by blow account in the article, and nobody has done it yet... but they could, and if they did they could cite respected sources like the BBC, Guardian, NZ Herald etc. I can find nothing in wikipedia policy that would prevent anyone doing that, all we have is our sense of decency and decorum. @MaxBrowne2: WP:NOTNEWS, WP:INDISCRIMINATE, WP:EXCESSDETAIL, WP:ONUS and WP:PL all strike me as good reasons to avoid giving blow-by-blow accounts of events. None are specific to court proceedings or crime-related articles, but I'm not sure we need a guideline covering those topics specifically when we have several that warn against that sort of thing more generally. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 00:12, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
