How do I report a page that may have been created to put out false information about the 2020 US Election[edit]

Transition Integrity Project seems to be an attempt to misrepresent the concerns about a group that was looking into Donald Trump and the RNC stealing the 2020 election. The page clearly tries to distort the facts. How do I get someone to review or take down the page? @CatchSlab2021: However, you should probably go ahead and use the "articles for creation" process (see WP:YFA) and create a draft instead. the draft will get the attention of reviewers who will help you get it into good shape. Once the draft is accepted, they will move it into main space, which will turn that read link blue. Category lists[edit]

My talk page was listed in a blocked users category, months back. The block was removed. Naturally I cannot edit the list - how do I update the category list which still includes my page? GerixAu (talk) 04:44, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gerixau: I'm puzzled. With this edit, you added Category:Indefinitely blocked Wikipedians to your talk page. A couple of minutes later, you changed it to Category:Wikipedians who are indefinitely blocked for a violation of the Terms of Use. @Heathrow0003: Your draft has not been submitted for review, but I'm afraid it would surely be rejected. Wikipedia articles are created for notable subjects, summarizing what independent, reliable sources have written about the subject. Multiple such sources must exist, and their coverage must be substantial, not just passing mentions. The only source that has been cited in your draft is the proposed airline's own website and Google search for "Webclift Airways" returns exactly two results (highly unusual for Google), both to that same website. To refresh your memory (as you have been told on countless occasions), at the top of this Help Desk page it says "If you have comments about a specific article, use that article's talk page." In this case the talk page for Public Schools Club is at Talk:Public Schools Club. I knew in my heart that you would be annoyed. Honestly, I think that putting a message for help on the article's talk page is not a good idea, no one looks at that. I cannot see where to put the "missing title", I won't edit again, as I've promised before. I am, however, proud of the editing I did on this article, so I can only hope that someone can repair the bad citation I did for ref number 1. I don't recall saying that I was annoyed, and I do not feel annoyed. Nor have you been asked to never edit again. I'm trying to help you to help yourself. You have made many edits where you have managed to include a title within the reference. You are familiar with the idea of parameters. I.e. the 'markup' |xxx=. Add |title= and include the title after the equals sign but before the next pipe. Eagleash (talk) 12:48, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know this request upsets people but refs 1 and 3 are from old newspapers are very hard for me to do. please assist. I used to be able to do this but the google format has changed. Multiple editors have asked over the last five years or so 'why' it is so hard for you to do simple edits that everyone else manages. However, I do not ever recall seeing a response. And the format (when I press on the link after a successful search) has changed in the last few days (I think) so its hard for me to do. I'm sorry. A few days ago, I spent some time carefully explaining an issue you had with Christian Darnton (here) in the hopes you would learn and fix it yourself. I've no idea whether you saw it (because we can't ping an IP address, and I'm supposed to ignore the fact that you have an account you won't use), but you certainly didn't fix the article. Like others, I'm puzzled as to why you can't insert a simple title parameter. You have:
{{Cite web |url=https://foo.bar/com/baz |date=31 August 2020 |...}}
without a title. You simple need to insert the title parameter:
{{Cite web |url=https://foo.bar/com/baz |date=31 August 2020 |title=This is the title |...}}
Stop worrying about our mood and apologizing. We need to understand how to get you to be able to fix these simple issues yourself or understand how it's possible that you can create all these cites but still not understand them at all. 1000 ha. or square kilometre.[edit]

Hello! I've been reading on the page List of countries by forest area. I might add the 2020 numbers someday but there's two different methods of writing the amount of forest area, one table uses numbers by 1000 ha., and the other two tables list them by square kilometre. @Aquatic Ambiance: What a mess. Guidelines do not generally prescribe a usage for all articles, but each article should be consistent, as with reference style and English variant. 100 Hectare is one km2, so 1000 h = 10 km2. Ouch. In my opinion, The entire article should consistently use one or the other in all tables. Note that you do not need to use the units that a reference used since we permit simple numeric computations. In inline text, consistently use one but with the other in parentheses, using {{convert}}. Either be bold (WP:BOLD), or discuss on the article's talk page first. -Arch dude (talk) 17:15, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Aquatic Ambiance: We try to avoid having too many guidelines. I think the general rule of "use whatever convention the article started with, but be consistent thereafter" should suffice. Importing images from Wikimedia Commons to Wikipedia articles.[edit]

Hi Wikipedia Help Desk,

I'm just wondering, how do you import/transfer image files from Wikimedia Commons into a Wikipedia article? I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, and it would be quite helpful and useful to know! I have also (accidently and unknowingly) received some copyright strikes from other Wikipedia users, regarding some images I have copied from the internet, and pasted them into relevant to articles, to help readers with explaining what the article is referring to, by giving them visual cues, which sometimes help to clarify or justify, and give some sense or meaning to the relevant article. Problem is, those images were promptly taken down, and those images were flagged as copyrighted, which is unfortunate, because I thought those were great images, and I didn't mean any harm by adding them. My intentions were good, and I want to be constructive with my edits, and help improve Wiki articles.

@Davism0703: If you find an image at Commons that you wish to use, you will see a link in the toolbar in the upper middle part of the Commons page (by the Wikipedia logo) a link to 'use this file on a Wiki' clicking on that will provide you with a pre-formatted link to use on Wikipedia pages. If using in an infobox add in the 'image = ' parameter but do not use any formatting just 'XXXX.jpg'.
Please do not use external images; as you have found out, Wikipedia takes copy-vio rather seriously and infringing same can land you in difficulty! Cheers. Eagleash (talk)
@Davism0703: As you discovered, relevance and quality do not matter when the image is copyrighted. We adhere to the copyright law of the United States, where our servers are located. We have no discretion in this: it's not just some fussy Wikipedia rules. Question on "Discussion procedure on merging Wikipedia articles"[edit]

Good afternoon. I would like to ask a question relevant to the Wikipedia: Merging.

It has been suggested that Ventilative cooling be merged into Passive cooling.

I would like to oppose to this merge proposal since the 2 topics appear similar but are different and they should be left as separate articles.

My problem is that the suggested merge appears only in the Passive cooling & Ventilative cooling main articles, and there is no specific section in the Talk:Passive cooling.

Should I create a new section Merge proposal in the Talk:Passive cooling to oppose to this proposal and start a discussion?

Article for Review[edit]

My account name is SilverStylus. On August 28 at about 3:00 p.m. EST, I attempted to submit for review an article on the subject Elizabeth Whiteley. The yellow box appeared and at the bottom of it advised me to move the article. I pressed the move link, in blue, and everything disappeared. I can't find a tracker to know whether the article is in the review queue. Could you please check? Is it in the queue? Or, did I accidentally delete it and should I start again? Many thanks for your help and advice. Also, as a former librarian, I deeply appreciate Wikipedia.

@SilverStylus: I don't see page about Elizabeth Whiteley on English Wikipedia, and you have no contributions to other Wikimedia-operated sites. Are you sure you created it on this site, and not some other wiki (Fandom, etc.)? I notice that you created User:SilverStylus/sandbox, but that was at 2020-08-26T08:57:15 (EDT). Hi, IP user. It's not clear to me why Serols reverted your addition of an infobox, as they didn't give an edit summary. The message they put on your user talk page looks to me like a standard one, so I think they were using a semi-automated tool. My guess is that the tool noticed a large addition with no edit summary explaining why, and no references, and concluded that it was probably vandalism; but I don't know. It looks to me as if your addition was good, but the thing to do now is to open a discussion on the talk page Talk:High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire asking Serols why they removed it and explaining why you think it is a worthwhile addition. Normally I would say to ping Serols there, but I have pinged them here, so they may come here and explain. I haven't looked to see if the information you added in the infobox is already in the article, and referenced; but if not, that would be a good idea: infoboxes should normally summarise information already in the article with references. --ColinFine (talk) 17:05, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Green Grabbing/Johan Eliasch[edit]

I write to you with reference to the content of Green Grabbing:

The article in the Guardian by John Vidal is factually incorrect: Whilst I have bought 400,000 acres of land in the Amazonas, I have never asked any person to buy land in the Amazonas. Neither has Cool Earth ever sought or claimed to have bought land.

It is true that the Brazilian government have been critical of foreign buyers of rainforest, but I have never been accused by the Brazilian government to be a Green Grabber. Mr Vidal's article does not refer to me as a Green Grabber, and his definition of green grabbing extends to those who acquire rainforest for gain through carbon emission trading or eco-tourism, neither of which I have ever engaged in. My rainforest is purely for conservation purposes at great cost, and Cool Earth financially support local NGO’s with funding mainly for rainforest local community projects. By Vidal’s own definition I cannot be characterised as ‘Green Grabber’.

I have never, nor have I ever been accused of expunging indigenous or peasant communities from my land. To the opposite, I have made land available to local indigenous populations for their benefit to make livelihoods out harvesting fruits and nuts.

I hope I have explained why your post is factually incorrect, the inferences you draw from Vidal's article have no foundation, and is defamatory. Please kindly remove the reference to myself without delay.

I have looked at the article Green grabbing and the Guardian article. I have no opinion on the topic.
The Wikipedia article reports that which the Guardian has said. Wikipedia records what is said by, for example, reliable newspapers. I cannot comment on their report. This is something you will wish to take up with them.
There are no inferences drawn from the Guardian article on Wikipedia, It has recorded faithfully what is said by the newspaper. Fiddle Faddle 16:12, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Guardian article mentions over 10 organisations and individuals, while the Wikipedia article just mentions one individual and his organisation, which I think gives undue weight to Eliasch and Cool Earth in the article. On the other hand the Cool Earth article has been largely written by several single purpose accounts so it may have been influenced by the organisation.
