Footnotes[edit]

I am trying to find how to put in-article notes to the bottom of the article. I know it can be done, it's just I have forgotten how to do it. So basically, this wouldn't be references, it's more notes or short summary notes to put from in the article to the bottom of the page under "Notes". Adamdaley (talk) 03:09, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Adamdaley: take a look at {{efn}}. It gets more complicated if you want multiple separate sets of footnotes. -Arch dude (talk) 04:25, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to make a wikipedia page article?[edit]

Suppose we have a crirical topic and relevant matter in hand collected, then is it right to procede publishing in wikimedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by PARTHASARATHI.N (talkcontribs) 07:02, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello PARTHASARATHI.N. If you're refering to User:PARTHASARATHI.N/sandbox/COVID-19 ELIMINATION AND CELL DIFFERENTIATION, please note that Wikipedia does not generally publish original research. However, the Wikimedia project does have a peer reviewed medical journal, the WikiJournal of Medicine. I highly recommend you submit your article to them instead. You can do so here. Please don't post in all capitals; SHOUTING is considered rude. And: (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) --David Biddulph (talk) 11:23, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bigkin9129 This is not a general help desk, but a place to ask about editing Wikipedia. I would suggest that you talk to your brother's attorney or seek other legal counsel in your jurisdiction. We can't give you legal or medical advice here, for legal reasons. 331dot (talk) 09:04, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bigkin9129: And please don't SHOUT. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 11:49, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to edit an article[edit]

How can i create a new article and how long will it take before it will be published. Emmanuel okon269 (talk) 09:25, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We would strongly recommend that you get plenty of experience in editing existing Wikipedia articles before you try the difficult task of creating a new article. Once you've done that, if you wanted to try creating a new article the first thing which you would need to understand would be Wikipedia's notability criteria to determine whether an article would be acceptable. After that, you'll find further advice at WP:Your first article. Having produced a draft, the review process might take 5 weeks or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are almost 2000 pending submissions waiting for review. --David Biddulph (talk) 09:45, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Emmanuel okon269:You start by picking a notable subject. If the subject is not notable by our definition (WP:N) then Wikipedia will not accept an article on that subject. You need to find several references in reliable sources, and this is quite easy to do incorrectly. we delete about 200 articles every day, mostly due to lack of notability. -Arch dude (talk) 20:42, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Searching for pipes[edit]

Hi. Is it possible to search for articles in which a specific pipe appears? For example, if I want to see all articles in which a link appears as [[John Smith|Smith]], how would I do that? Surtsicna (talk) 10:33, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Search for:
insource:"John Smith" insource:/\[\[ *John Smith *\| *Smith *\]\]/
though the following would probably work as well, depending on just how common the actual name is:
insource:"John Smith" insource:/Smith *\| *Smith *\]/
—[AlanM1 (talk)]— 11:55, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You can also use linksto: to narrow the search before an expensive insource regex:
linksto:"John Smith" insource:/\[\[ *John Smith *\| *Smith *\]\]/

How to prevent Speedy Deletion of the Draft Article[edit]

Hey I want to know that how to prevent speedy deletion of the draft article. I was creating the Draft page named Draft:Harsh_Beniwal. But the message was occurring that formerly this article is created by an banned user, so this page is selected for Speedy Deletion.--Iamsouravrana (talk) 15:33, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Iamsouravrana. That draft was deleted for two reasons: one that it was created by a banned or blocked user, but the other because it was "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion". I observe that drafts of that name have been deleted seven times, and articles of that name have been deleted six times. The most recent discussion was WP:Articles for deletion/Harsh Beniwal (2nd nomination),last year. In order to create an article about Beniwal, anybody will need to start off with enough sources that give rock-solid proof that he meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability. --ColinFine (talk) 16:20, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for reply ColinFine . He is an indian youtuber and actor, worked in one web series and in one movie. But when i have created Draft of Harsh Beniwal it was deleted in two days. Can you help me to create this article??Iamsouravrana (talk) 06:01, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Iamsouravrana. I repeat: thirteen attempts at writing an article about him have failed. No experienced editor is going to want to spend any time helping to write an article about him unless you start by showing us at least three places where people who have no connection with Beniwal have chosen to write a significant amount of material about him, and been published in places which have a reputation for fact-checking and editorial control. Please read up on notability and citing sources. --ColinFine (talk) 08:39, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Repinging Iamsouravrana. --ColinFine (talk) 08:44, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
