November 9[edit]

Eyewitness Correction[edit]

I am an eyewitness to the crimes described in the article, "2017 Fresno shooting spree." I observed the shooting of one victim, was the first person to attend to that victim, and testified in the trial. I know with certainty that information cited from the "Fresno Bee" is incorrect. If I correct the inaccuracies, what should I do for citation? Certainly secondary sources such as the "Bee" are good sources, but they are not as good as a someone who is provably a primary source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Avancuren (talkcontribs) 01:37, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Avancuren We cannot accept personal accounts or personal recollections; Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state. If those independent sources have reported incorrectly, you will need to take that up with them and get them to issue a correction or retraction, or offer other independent sources that claim the others are incorrect. Verification is an important principle of Wikipedia, and we cannot verify your personal account. 331dot (talk) 02:01, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thriller[edit]

Dear Wikipedia Team, 11/8/2020 10:37 p.m. EST

I believe that the songs "Baby Be Mine" and "The Lady in my Life" are as essential to Thriller as "Beat It" or "Bille Jean". So can those songs have wiki pages?

Sincerely, Thriller was taken. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thriller was taken (talkcontribs) 03:38, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Thriller was taken: A subject warrants an article if it is notable, not if it is "essential". Each of the two songs would need to have been the principle subject of multiple independent reliable sources. See WP:N. If they are notable, then they "can have" articles, but they will only get articles if some editor (for example you) decides to write the articles. See WP:YFA. -Arch dude (talk) 04:21, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alec Trebek[edit]

I'm not really computer savvy so can someone please help me and do an edit to Alec Trebek. In the summary section with photo, birth, death, children etc...please change game show host to quiz show host out of respect for him because that is what he would have wanted Thanks Cindy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:569:BE8F:B700:55B7:B488:9290:999A (talk) 07:26, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome to make this suggestion at Talk:Alex Trebek; but please understand that Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state, not necessarily what the subject might have wanted. If you have reliable sources that use the terminology you feel should be used, please offer them. 331dot (talk) 10:17, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

page of person was deleted fully (Edvardas Strončikas on lt.wikipedia.org)[edit]

Dear Wikipedia, with this message I want to inform of problem: wikipedia page of person "Edvardas Strončikas" or "Edvardas Stroncikas" that was present for many years on Lithuanian edition of Wikipedia (lt.wikipedia.org) - was deleted in full, and we are unable to find it. We believe this deletion happened in ~1-3 months or from today. I am Marijus Strončikas, son of Mr. Edvardas Strončikas, I am writing on behalf of my father because I am more advanced in IT and English language.

Could you please: - restore page; - see who did that and why?

Thanks! Sincerely, Marijus Strončikas (Marijus Stroncikas) — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarijusStron (talkcontribs) 15:11, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, MarijusStron, but you will have to ask on lt-wiki. Each edition of Wikipedia is entirely separate, and we have no authority or knowledge of another one. Try lt:Vikipedija:Pagalbos_biuras. --ColinFine (talk) 15:21, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MarijusStron: Did you see a message at the lt:Edvardas Strončikas page? --CiaPan (talk) 16:12, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MarijusStron: The message says:
12:21, 30 rugsėjo 2020 Homo ergaster (Aptarimas | indėlis) ištrynė puslapį Edvardas Strončikas (Neatitinka reikšmingumo kriterijų [...])
which Google translates as:
12:21 PM, 30 September 2020 Homo ergaster (Talk | contribs) deleted page Edvardas Strončikas (Does not meet the relevance criteria)
with 'reikšmingumo', translated as 'relevance', being a link to Lithuanian Wikipedia notability criteria page.

Same question has been asked at Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests#page of person was deleted fully (Edvardas Strončikas on lt.wikipedia.org). --CiaPan (talk) 11:14, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can't get unblocked, have tried everything[edit]

Hello,

My account was blocked for posting an article with promotional language. The admin you flagged my account and blocked me indefinitely recommended that I read up on Wikipedia's policy on promotional posting. I did read all the policies on associations, paid editing, posting etiquette, etc. and now understand my mistake. I was able to change my username to one more appropriate and posted on my talk page my employer/client associations and my understanding of my mistake. I've requested many times to be unblocked, always disclosing that I know what I did wrong and won't do it again. However, no one will unblock me. Even when I ping the original admin who blocked me, they do not respond. I've been trying for many months to be unblocked, please help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:141D:8A6E:5078:254B:30A9:6F55 (talk) 17:24, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It will be hard for this board here to help you with any blocking issue unless we know which account is blocked. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:29, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, evading your block by logging out, even if it is to get help, isn't goign to help your case. 18:04, 9 November 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victor Schmidt (talkcontribs)

Hello, KAAYIR VITALIS. I'm afraid that this is a page for help with editing Wikipedia, nothing else. Actually, I think you are going to have difficulty finding anywhere on the web where people are willing to do your homework for you. Sorry. --ColinFine (talk) 21:33, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
