Green ribbon[edit]

I see that in Wikipedia the green lapel ribbon is used to denote mental health issues. It is also used to denote Lyme Disease. As a person whose Lyme Disease is in remission, I am aware of the use of a green ribbon to denote the disease. Can you please add this fact to Wikipedia under what a green ribbon means.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:c660:1200:150c:d0d1:3c5c:b952 (talkcontribs) 16 May 2021 03:07 (UTC)

You will first need to supply a reliable source for that assertion.--Shantavira|feed me 08:03, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To expand on Shantavira's reply: everything in Wikipedia needs to be sourced to a reliable published source, because otherwise a reader has no way of verifying it. Your personal knowledge (or mine) is not acceptable. If you can find a source (such as a major newspaper, or a book from a reputable publisher), please make a suggestion on the talk page of the particular article, citing the source. --ColinFine (talk) 20:47, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User box templates?[edit]

I've looked in the galleries and haven't been able to find any userbox templates for

Has anybody created templates for these? Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk) 03:26, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Chatul: If they're not in the userboxen lists, probably not. Confidently not for Bujold because I skimmed the Template namespace links and User namespace links (userboxen are generally hosted in one or the other) and found nothing. For more popular articles that's probably too difficult. In any case, it's likely quicker to pick a userbox style you like, copy the code into a user subpage (or template space if you think others will find it useful) and change the text/image to what you want. If you struggle with this, ping me with the best you can do and I'll try to touch it up. — Bilorv (talk) 14:01, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bilorv: I started with User:Chatul/Userboxen/Smetana and wanted to replace the image with
[[Image:Vysehrad as seen over the Vltava from Cisarska louka 732.jpg|thumb|right|Vyšehrad above the Vltava River]] to get
Vyšehrad above the Vltava River
However, I can't figure out how to rescale it or find a wikilink for a rescaled version. I also can't find the documentation for the syntax of the link, specifically the thumb and right between the link and its name; all that I could find in Help:wikilink was the single piped parameter for the name.
I've got quite a few userboxen on my user page, and wonder whether there is a way to group them into collapsible subsets.
I'm also trying to find a userbox endorsing Elizabeth Warren.
Thanks. Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk) 17:15, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Chatul: [[Image:Vysehrad as seen over the Vltava from Cisarska louka 732.jpg|70px]], as in the userbox you linked, works (and you can adjust "70", the number of pixels per row and column, as you require). As for the grouping, there's a collapsible option suggested at Wikipedia:Userboxes#Grouping userboxes. — Bilorv (talk) 17:55, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The {{userboxgroup}} template did the trick. Thanks. 20:39, 16 May 2021 (UTC)Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk)

Add an other language version of an article.[edit]

Good morning, good evening.

I was thinking that I can put the article : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orenia in French but I don't really know how to do it...

If can someone help me about how can I editing this article I would be grateful!

Have a good Sunday everyone ! Thank you Oren M — Preceding unsigned comment added by EauReine (talkcontribs) 15:07, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

EauReine, there is advice at Wikipedia:Translate us, in particular, policies at Fr Wikipedia may be different and that you need reasonable fluency in the target language. TSventon (talk) 15:22, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit[edit]

Regarding my recent edit to the JW Player page - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=JW_Player&oldid=1023280905 I feel my edit was justified to balance the comment I added to. The edit I made was correct and not fabricated. Regards Tim Higgins — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.45.226.170 (talk) 18:04, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The comment you made was editorialising and did not provide any extra information. It was telling readers what to think. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:20, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Using image as userpage background[edit]

Hi
I've previously seen people use images as the background of their user pages on English Wikipedia. When you hover your cursor over these images, they appear to not link to anything and are therefore non-interactive. I've also seen users superimpose text, tables and infoboxes over these background images. Does anyone know how I would be able to do such a thing for my own userpage? HeyitsBen talk 18:37, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HeyitsBen, can you point to an example? LittlePuppers (talk) 01:26, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@HeyitsBen and LittlePuppers: Because it is not possible to insert images into the background-image property (the server will remove it while parsing because URLS are regarded as unsafe) I suspect this has been done using a complex css construct. But I would need to take a looo at the individual case, too. Victor Schmidt (talk) 05:21, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

External link clarification[edit]

Regarding external links: I read WP:ELNO but there are a couple of cases that are not clear to me. (1) Is it OK to link to lyrics websites in articles about a song? (2) ELNO says don't link to mirrors or forks of Wikipedia, but we have Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks/ABC and other pages like it which provide such links. Is that OK? RudolfRed (talk) 18:52, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ELNO applies only in the main space. Ruslik_Zero 20:26, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! RudolfRed (talk) 20:46, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But, RudolfRed, if the lyrics website is violating copyright, then you may not link to it. I suspect that many of them do so, though I don't know for sure. --ColinFine (talk) 20:50, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We shouldn't be linking to copyright violations in any namespace, ELNO be damned. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 04:15, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Does CHAOS (operating system) really have a promotional tone to it?[edit]

I scanned over the article and nothing sounded promotional to me. I'm still new so I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing or if the tag should just be removed. If there is something I would really appreciate it if someone could show me what it is! PeanutButterPopcorn (talk) 23:53, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@PeanutButterPopcorn: The headings are very suspect; you would be hard-pressed to find them on other articles. The way the article is structured (especially with headings like Security assessed by and Security provided by) looks to promote certain entities. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:04, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the sections consisting only of references. They can always be brought back if there is something to actually write in them. JIP | Talk 01:05, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
