April 19[edit]

The goole map in the box is not working - please fix if able. Thank you 49.198.41.28 (talk) 05:40, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is happening on many articles, so there is nothing to fix in St Leonards School. Hopefully it will be working again soon, but there have been OSM map problems recently. MB 06:10, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the school on OpenStreetMap (which is used to provide the maps on Wikipedia), but it is not displaying in the infobox.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:13, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is an issue with the charts in the article List of kebabs, beginning at "Greece", if someone would be kind enough to fix it :)--Kimdime (talk) 13:11, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kimdime Fixed. The Greece table wasn't closed correctly, and so the rest of the tables were being nested into the Greece table. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:28, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting old/obsolete/incorrect images that I am author of.[edit]

These images that I have uploaded and created are no longer accurate, the most recent version I made a mistake on as well. I want to upload a new version that is correct. I have been advised to overwrite them. The file description says "You may not overwrite this file." I put in codes for speedy deletion due to author request. These were reverted. Can someone please help me resolve this? I feel like it should be much easier to update images that I am the author and uploader of. *They will be replaced with a correct version* What sense is it to have multiple versions just stacked up on the sidebar? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Frankly, the images look like original research to me, and shouldn't be used anyway. AndyTheGrump (talk) 13:37, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Vespercirrus: It looks like you tried to use the wrong process for deleting files on commons; which has a different process than en.wikipedia does. The commons deletion system is mostly managed through https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests . I would leave requests at that page. --Jayron32 13:42, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I dont really care if they are deleted for NOR or for my reason. It would be better to not have it than to have incorrect info. Since it is a chart of separate organizations, I can see why it could be considered a "synthesis" of published materials. In any case, it would be best if they were deleted and Ive done everything I know how to do to fix it. Vespercirrus (talk) 14:18, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Vespercirrus: I think I just explained that to you. If you want the file deleted, please leave a message at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests explaining why. --Jayron32 14:20, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jayron32 Thank you for your help. Ive taken this route. Vespercirrus (talk) 15:25, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Those images are on Wikimedia Commons. Here at Wikipedia we use the images from Commons and have an upload link to it, but Commons is responsible for it's own policies on updating, overwriting etc. So you'll need to ask there. Usually overwriting is frowned upon because an image can be in use on lots of different language Wikipedias, and changing one image on Commons can have repercussions everywhere the image is used. e.g. That image could be being used to highlight mistakes in images on Commons, if you fix it, you'll break the point of the article without realising. - X201 (talk) 13:47, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting an image that I am uploader and author of.[edit]

Duplicate request of above

Hi there,

I am the author and uploader of these images that are obsolete/dated/incorrect. Im looking to have them deleted and replace them with a correct version. (My most recent upload was made with a mistake in it). I have been advised to overwrite the files. The File description says "this file may not be overwritten." I have put in edit codes on the image for speedy deletion due to author request and stated my reason why. These edits were reverted. I feel it should be easier to correct information that I am responsible for.

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

@Vespercirrus The reason it does not qualify for G7 is because it's older than 7 days. You can still use a regular commons deletion request. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 14:12, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you asked the same question in #Deleting old/obsolete/incorrect images that I am author of. 37 minutes before this one. Please don't post the same question multiple times. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:18, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies, I didnt see it appear because I thought it would be at the top of the page rather than the bottom, and my page lagged for like a full minute when I posted, so I thought it didnt post. I wasnt spamming, I misunderstood the format. Thanks for the reply. Vespercirrus (talk) 14:26, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I have taken this route. Vespercirrus (talk) 15:24, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to the Teahouse. Please make requests for improving an individual article at the article's talk page. If you have a reliable publihsed source for the change, you are welcome to edit the article yourself. ColinFine (talk) 15:42, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Courtesy links Tom Longboat and Six Nations of the Grand River. The 'federal election district' of Brantford—Brant and the Brantford—Brant (provincial electoral district) do not seem to be equivalent entities to the "dispersed rural community" of Ohsweken, Ontario.
It appears to me that the 'community' may fall within one or both of the 'districts', but it would need someone who understands Canadian geopolitical nomenclature (both now and in the 1880's) and its applications within infoboxes to determine the most appropriate resolution to this question. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.196} 90.197.101.71 (talk) 21:44, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

After I'm done with a draft, should I submit it or directly move it into mainspace?[edit]

I'm currently working on a draft which isn't perfect right now. Wikipedia:AFC says:

Established users in good standing, however, are encouraged to not clutter up the AFC queue with pages that do not need support or guidance from AFC reviewers.

So when I'm done, should I submit it for review or move it into mainspace? I.hate.spam.mail.here (talk | contributions) 18:02, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I.hate.spam.mail.here Unless you have extensive experience with having drafts accepted, a review is probably a good idea, but if you are 95-100% confident that your draft would survive an WP:AFD discussion, you would be pretty safe to move it yourself. 331dot (talk) 18:13, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Background" field in Template:Infobox musical artist[edit]

What does the "background" parameter do for the template, and why isn't it in the documentation? ~CatMan149(talk) 23:07, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@CatMan149: Background is used to determine if the infobox is for an individual or a group. There is a note about it at the end of the page. Background is handled by {{Infobox_musical_artist/hCard_class}} and you can check that template for the docs. RudolfRed (talk) 23:14, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed: Not knowing that it was a microformat (or even what that was), I had expected it to be with the rest of the parameters. Thank you! ~CatMan149(talk) 18:09, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
