A idiot on here is removing my added information on the soundtracks to Popeye and Pete's Dragon, when i have a reliable source link attached and i don't appreciate it one bit. If those links aren't reliable then Wikipedia needs to be shut down! This pisses me off and i'm about to go postal with foul language on this person. ColinFine, the editor (who rarely uses their user ID) recognizes the results of their own formatting errors, but rarely if ever reverts the latter. They previously blamed their "device" for this inability to find and fix formatting errors, but was curiously reluctant to say what the device was. (The device I'm using right now is nine years old and I presume would have a resale value close to zero, but it still manages to display formatting errors very clearly.) And as for value of the work, I often have difficulty understanding how such detail about miscellaneous Luptons and Middletons is of encyclopedic status. -- Hoary (talk) 02:36, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I still stand by my suggestion that they are using some sort of visual aid software per our discussion at your talk page some time back. The often-used "it's in red" phrase, as if they can't read or transcribe it correctly and the 'phonetic' spelling of usernames leads me to this conclusion. @ColinFine, @Hoary I have also seen this editor ask for help in the Help boards for years. I started to wonder if the inordinate attention on the Lupton and Middleton articles is really worth all of that effort. I suppose it gives the OP some purpose, so I shouldn't criticize. New editor creating a new article for an actor.[edit]

@Kavya Gowri Kg The most important guideline for creating any article (note: not page) is the General Notability Guidelines. That describes what you need to demonstrate to show that the topic of the article is notable by Wikipedia's definition. There is a subject-specific page for actors: WP:NACTOR, which should be viewed as a supplement to the GNG. If you are convinced this actor meets the notability requirements the next step is to gather sources that discuss the actor's life and career. You need to make sure the sources are:

Reliable by Wikipedia's definition. This page has a color-coded list of sources by generally-accepted reliability. Here (about half way down that page) is a guide to sources specifically about Indian cinema. Here are some evaluations of the reliability of sources grouped by country.
independant of the topic of article. So, you would want to avoid the actor's webpage, the studio's publicity materials, press releases, etc. Also, oddly, interviews with the actor are frowned upon because they are not independent.
Significant coverage - in other words, you want sources that are about him, and that go into some depth about his life or career. Not sources that are about the movies he was in that just mention him in passing, but sources that are really about HIM.

Once you have at least 3 such sources, you are ready to begin drafting your article. Your first article is a good place for pointers on how to do that. Also, looking at some of the featured articles and good articles about Indian Cinema can help you know what an ideal article should look like.

In addition to the good advice that others have given you, I would suggest that trying to create a new article as a new editor is like picking a violin, never having had a lesson on it, and trying to give a public recital. It is likely to bring you frustration and disappointment, and may ending wasting your time and other people's. I strongly suggest putting that aside for a few months while you learn how Wikipedia works by making small improvements to existing articles - remembering that everything in Wikipedia should be traceable to a reliable published source. @Kavya Gowri Kg: Let's do this is the proper order. First, create your user page by clicking on the red link that is currently your user name. On that user page, declare your paid relationship with the subject: see WP:PAID. Next, find published sources about the subject. You probably already have multiple sources, so check each of them against the criteria we apply to see if they help establish notability. Look at WP:CSMN to see why many sources fail this test. If you cannot find a few good sources, then stop: it is WP:TOOSOON for this subject to have an article: come back in a year and check again. Do not attempt to create the article if you cannot find such sources. We will delete the article. We delete more than 100 articles every day: yours will not survive and you will have wasted your time and ours. If you can find at least three good sources, read a few Wikipedia articles about similar subjects (actors) to see what your article should look like. @Dr Salvus: Read WP:RFC, which explains that an RfC is usually closed by an uninvolved user after 30 days has elapsed, or after the discussion has died down and consensus (or lack thereof) is clear. (dead?) reference redirects to homepage[edit]

Reference 13 on Sagat Singh now redirects to the website's homepage. I ran WP:IABOT on it, and instead of marking it is dead, it added a link of the archive of the homepage which contains nothing relevant, which I think is a false positive. Looks like it's because Internet Archive had never archived it before, so it made its best guess at archiving it's redirect to the home page (see [1]). No idea why the bot decided to use the archive link to the homepage, probably to avoid extra redirects.

I did a quick google search of the title in the that cite and found [2], which appears likely to be the identical page. I'd say if you concur, you should update the reference to use that URL (which does have a successful archive by IA). Skynxnex (talk) 21:51, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
