Creating musician/artist page[edit]

Am I able to create an musician/artist page for myself? Dayvid777 (talk) 02:11, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dayvid777: Hi there! WP:AUTO explains that Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographies. Creating a new Wikipedia article can be challenging, especially when you have a conflict of interest (COI). To learn how to edit, I suggest you start at Help:Introduction. I suggest spending a significant amount of time editing existing articles to hone your skills. When you're ready to create an article, you would gather multiple published independent reliable sources that have provided significant coverage of you, and determine whether they demonstrate that you meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". If so, you could create an account and declare your COI on your user page. Then follow the instructions at Help:Your first article and summarize what the sources have published, and be prepared for a process that may include months of waiting for review, rejections, and rewrites, before an article is created. If you are successful, then you could never edit the article directly due to your COI, but could submit edit requests on the article talk page. Hope this helps. You should also read an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. ColinFine (talk) 09:02, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And remember that you can only include facts about yourself that are mentioned in your independent, published, reliable sources. Nothing else that you merely know about yourself, or which is only supported by published sources directly connected to you (publicity materials, interviews, etc.), should appear in the Draft/Article. {The poster formerly known as 878.81.230.195} 46.65.228.117 (talk) 07:55, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are some exceptions to that per WP:ABOUTSELF, but such sources will not help demonstrate notability. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 16:20, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hiding the article name/profile etc. bar at the top of the screen[edit]

Is there any way to remove or hide the bar at the top of the screen that lists the search bar, title of the article, talk/history/watchlist/edit and profile? It appears whenever you scroll down such that the title isn't visible anymore, but does not appear when logged out. Spacemarine22 (talk) 03:31, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Add the following to your common.css file:
#vector-sticky-header {display:none;}

Deleting biographical wikipedia page[edit]

My friend would like to have his wikipedia page deleted as he believes it brings unwanted attention to him. Can it be temporarily removed? 2600:1700:5F90:2930:927:157E:7499:C5EE (talk) 13:02, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor. Wikipedia has articles about people not pages owned by people. See WP:OWN. Accordingly, just because someone doesn't like what is written here it won't be deleted just because of "unwanted attention". However, we want articles here to be accurate and to be confined to discussing notable individuals. If you provide the name of the article, we may be able to help further. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:10, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! Unfortunately people with biographical articles do not own them and are not permitted to edit them themselves due to the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. The only reason it would be deleted is if it breaks one of the existing Wikipedia policies, for example if it does not meet the Wikipedia:Notability threshold.
If there are any errors on his page, then he can make an Wikipedia:Edit requests. But please note any new information must meet the Wikipedia:Verifiability policy.
What is the article in question? Qcne (talk) 13:10, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it, or part(s) of it, can be deleted. For whether it can be, and if so then how it can be, please read Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Although the unwantedness of attention is very unlikely to be an acceptable reason. (Unmerited or improper attention, perhaps.) Also, it sometimes happens that a page whose deletion would not be merited has accretions that should be deleted. -- Hoary (talk) 23:02, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The only requirement for an article is notability of the subject. The only justification for complete deletion of an article is that the subject is not notable. There are all sorts of reasons and procedures for changing the contents of a article, but not for deleting it. -Arch dude (talk) 17:34, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Though, articles of borderline notable non-public figures where the subject has requested deletion may be closed as delete. WP:BIODEL is an extension of the general presumption in favour of privacy applied to BLPs. Alpha3031 (tc) 13:48, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question re template:navbox[edit]

Hi. I am trying to use the navbar parameter to add the set of three links which provide the usual links "V-T-E," in the title row of a navbox; the navbox I am trying to edit consists of multiple navboxes; specifically, it is template:government

I am trying to figure out how to modify the parameter navbar in template:navbox to add this, but I seem to be having trouble doing so. could you please assist? Please ping me when you reply. thanks. Sm8900 (talk) 13:55, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

below is the navbox, just for convenience.
--Sm8900 (talk) 13:57, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The navboxes have got the VTE links. Are you talking about the top bar "Government"? That is a template called Navboxes, which is used to group navbox templates. The Navboxes template doesn't have a VTE link because it isn't a navbox. See the example on {{Navboxes}} - X201 (talk) 14:33, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to ping @Sm8900: - X201 (talk) 14:34, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@X201 thanks for your reply. actually, I am absolutely certain there is a way to also add the "VTE" links to the title bar of a navbox, even if it consists of other navboxes. i have definitely seen this done somewhere, but now I can't remember where. I appreciate any help if possible. Sm8900 (talk) 14:41, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sm8900:  Done - X201 (talk) 14:48, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@X201, wow. that's terrific! thanks for your help. i will take a look at how you did that, and will come back if i have any questions. thanks!! Sm8900 (talk) 17:00, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Re: A muddled page on the two series named "The Terror"[edit]

Might some editor please fix the page on "The Terror," a tv series on the Franklin Arctic expedition-- a great series btw--, and some AMC horror series also named "The Terror." The page is a muddle. Publicgoods (talk) 17:39, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

 Courtesy link: The Terror (TV series) - 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:43, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Publicgoods: I haven't seen this television series, but the lead tells me it is two seasons of the same series (not two separate TV series): "The first season...is a fictionalized account of Captain Sir John Franklin's lost expedition to the Arctic ... The second season, which has no narrative connection to the first season... is mostly set in an American-run Japanese internment camp during World War II." The best place to talk about improving an article is the article's talk page (e.g. Talk:The Terror (TV series)). I suggest you be more specific in describing the "muddle" that needs to be fixed and your specific suggestions for improvements. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 20:10, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
