May 14[edit]

Reference help requested. how can i fixed missing tittles and reference error Thanks, Royalesignature (talk) 07:16, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You need to add a title to the Template:Cite web template. I think the error message is clear enough: "missing or empty |title=". You can also use the help link to get more information on how to resolve a cite error. I fixed one of the errors but for the other one I cannot open the link. Sungodtemple (talkcontribs) 14:11, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Royalesignature I fixed a couple of the cites. The main problem with that article is the WP:PEACOCK wording, making large parts of it sound like an advert. You would do well to focus on fixing that: e.g. FUTA) is renowned for fostering innovative skills among its students and promoting an entrepreneurial mindset. Are we to assume that other universities don't do this? And who said they were renowned for it? Certainly not Wikipedia. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:18, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Pity about the acronym :-). {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.199.210.77 (talk) 07:00, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am having trouble with a new pdf - reference number 5 - please leave in the long quote. Please put on the writer's name too - if you can. Thanks - I cannot do this. 175.38.42.62 (talk) 09:50, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the missing }}, but I think the quote is far too long and probably needs to be trimmed. —Wasell(T) 🌻🇺🇦 11:30, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How[edit]

How can I add my dancers resume here my titles and all competitions Dancepage1 (talk) 11:25, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot, Dancepage1. This is an encyclopedia. Please use LinkedIn instead, or of course create your own website. -- Hoary (talk) 11:58, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requirements for Wikipedia[edit]

Following the Coronation of King Charles the Third in London UK, much lusting and comment is being made about

Major Jonathan Thompson the Equerry to King Charles.

A pictorial history of the man should be a must for Wikipedia. 80.41.34.60 (talk) 11:25, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you believe that this fellow qualifies under WP:PERSON for an article, and if you can construct an article from what you learn from reliable sources, then you're free to create Draft:Jonathan Thompson (equerry). But you'd be wise to accustom yourself to Wikipedia before attempting to create a new draft. -- Hoary (talk) 12:02, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary search[edit]

Is there a way to search for all the edits I have made to city pages? I have always written, within the first edit on a city page, "fixed caption", but by searching, within the edit summary search, for this phrase, I only get about ten results (there should be at least a hundred). JackkBrown (talk) 12:36, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

JackkBrown, I tried edit summary search and got 135 results. TSventon (talk) 12:54, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How did you make the search? I clicked "Edit summary search" at the bottom of Special:Contributions/JackkBrown and entered fixed caption in the "Search" field with 500 in the "Max pages" field. It gave 136 results including 1 on the next page. Most of them sound like cities. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:58, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: maybe from mobile does not return the same results, I will try via desktop mode. Update: searching via desktop mode, I solved. JackkBrown (talk) 13:13, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tags:[edit]

Is it possible to edit a 'Visual Edit' in my description post? For example; Spelling Error, incorrect word used. Miki6264 (talk) 14:48, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Miki6264: Hi there! If you're asking if you can change your edit summary after you've saved your edit, the answer unfortunately is no. GoingBatty (talk) 15:45, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you refer to. Edit summaries cannot be edited after the edit is saved. If you refer to text like "Tag: Visual edit" in [1] then it's added automatically if the edit used VisualEditor. The only way to avoid it is to not use VisualEditor. Redirect From Translated Article[edit]

Hello,

I'm in the process of translating an article from the Russian Wikipedia (Garik Kharlamov), but it shows that it's a redirect to the broader article Comedy Club (TV program). Back on April 11, I asked the help desk about creating a new article that is part of a redirect to a different one. Is it the same process as that? In other words, will creating a translated page cause problems here? I'm fairly new to translating so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Losipov (talk) 17:45, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Losipov I think the advice at Wikipedia:Help desk/Archives/2023 April 11#Creating a separate article from another one applies. Ensure the subject is notable, create a draft, then either submit your article for review or use WP:Requested moves/Technical requests to publish it. The redirect has a history, which will need to be archived by the page mover. Also I recommend Help:Translation, which explains that the source of a translation from another Wikipedia needs to be acknowledged and that other Wikipedias have different policies. TSventon (talk) 18:17, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TSventon thanks for the reply. So I can just create a new page with that specific title (or at least request to move it after)? I'm not finished with it, but I do think getting advice for publication is ideal. Again, thank you. Losipov (talk) 03:50, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Losipov, yes, you can create the page. If you create a page with the wrong title, it can always be moved to a new title. For example if there were two articles about people called Garik Kharlamov, one or both names could be disambiguated, e.g. Garik Kharlamov (comedian), see WP:Disambiguation. Pinging meta wiki users[edit]

Apparently this doesn't work with the usual syntax. Is there some ping equivalent to an ILL? Elinruby (talk) 19:44, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, but cross-wiki notifications exist so you can usually just ping them on the English Wikipedia and they'll see it. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:48, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ah ha, you're right of course; I have actually gotten those. Thanks; my brain bubble, I guess. Maybe the real problem here is that they aren't much of a Wikipedia user. I'll try the email. Appreciate the time Elinruby (talk) 23:41, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Attempted-and-failed redirects[edit]

In this edit, I meant to redirect a page somewhere, but instead of typing #REDIRECT[[ before the target, I simply typed #[[. Of course, this resulted in an article whose entire content was a single-entry bulleted list. Is there any way to discover if there are other pages in mainspace whose entire content is a single-entry bulleted list? Nyttend (talk) 22:18, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

They should appear at Special:ShortPages. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:16, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Which is a maintenance list being actively patrolled, hence it's likely there aren't any. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:50, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
