November 25[edit]

What is the most appropriate way to deal with an editor causing WP:Disruptive editing due to his incompetency in English?[edit]

An editor is causing WP:Disruptive editing at multiple pages because of his incompetency in English. It is impossible to discuss his edits in the Talk Page because of his incomprehensible English. I do not want to make a personal attack, but I judge that the editor is clearly incompetent in English per WP:Competence is required.

For example, the editor (@Barbardo) wrote (in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Khitan_(circumcision) ): "You removed sources and then added primary sources which one hadith calling for it are deemed weak/daeef and then added a unsourced line about it being mostly found in muslim countries when it varies and is primarily based in africa my suggestion is removing the hadiths and the above line you made in the start of the paragraph. " And he also wrote: "You can't add hadiths as they are primary sources witgoyt secondary sources and you have also copied the first paragraph its fine as it because the hadith that calls for it is weak." I assume that other editors will agree that these sentences are incomprehensible.

What is the right way to deal with incompetency in English?

(maybe try to add I think you should try to talk to them in their native language if they listed on their user page through their user talk page (maybe try to add an english translation or vise versa). Sangsangaplaz (talk) 06:07, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
QamarBurtuqali, there is advice on dealing with incompetence in English in WP:Disruptive editing and WP:Competence is required, which you have already linked to.
I think that the sentences you have quoted are reasonably clear, so I have copy edited them below
"You removed sources and then added primary sources of which one hadith calling for it areis deemed weak/daeef and then added aan unsourced line about it being mostly found in muslim countries when it varies and is primarily based in africa my. My suggestion is removing the hadiths and the above line you madeadded inat the start of the paragraph."
"You can't add hadiths as they are primary sources witgoytwithout secondary sources and you have also copied the first paragraph its. It was fine as it was because the hadith that calls for it is weak."
In this case I would suggest talking to the other editor on the article talk page and asking them to explain their points where they are not clear. If you can't agree, there is WP:Dispute resolution. TSventon (talk) 13:33, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I did a Circa - "c" in the Early life section - but its not right - please fix if you have the time and thanks 175.38.42.62 (talk) 04:23, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done in the future, you may want to use the {{circa}} template, using curly braces {} for templates, not square brackets [] for links—for example {{circa|1812}} would produce c. 1812. cheers! Remsense 04:26, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stub articles[edit]

Is there a way to generate a list of all articles whose talk pages are in Category:Stub-Class articles (or any of its subcategories) but are not in Category:All stub articles and vice versa? That is, all articles that are rated as stubs on the content assessment scale but do not have a stub template and vice versa. Andumé (talk) 05:24, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

PetScan? Mach61 (talk) 05:43, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And if Petscan can't do it - I can never remember whether it can handle the categories-on-the-talk-page problem - ask on WP:Request a query, and I or someone else will put something together for you. —Cryptic 06:12, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, since it's not possible to do this via PetScan (or at least I couldn't figure how), I will ask there. Andumé (talk) 06:33, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Despicable Me 4[edit]

Would now be a good time to write an article on the upcoming Despicable Me film? Or do I have to wait until more information is confirmed? NiameyH (talk) 13:00, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can do it when there are independent reliable sources about it, which is very unusual for an unreleased film. I haven't looked, but it's likely that everything you can find is either ultimately from the producers (and so, not independent), or mere gossip and speciulation. See WP:NYF. ColinFine (talk) 13:50, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i really dont think an article on an unreleased film is the greatest idea- mushi( ? ) 14:47, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why is that? The Garfield Movie has a pretty decent article, and it only received a trailer a few weeks ago. Industrial Insect (talk) 17:24, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Inquiry on MBE deletion[edit]

I would like to clarify why did you remove the MBE under Jennie Kim's profile? 121.58.228.67 (talk) 15:31, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The best place to ask this would be on the talk page of the relevant article(not a "profile"), Talk:Jennie Kim. 331dot (talk) 15:41, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to request protection?[edit]

Hi, I want to know how to request a higher level of protection for a Wikipedia page. Ameerthewolf (talk) 18:40, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't alter your signature in that manner. All protection issues are discussed at WP:RFPP. 331dot (talk) 18:50, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Ameerthewolf (talk) 18:58, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fancy usernames[edit]

I want to know how can I make my username fancy with colors and background colors and radius and whatever? Ameerthewolf (talk) 18:50, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:CUSTOMSIG, but your customization shouldn't be overly disruptive. 331dot (talk) 18:53, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Ameerthewolf (talk) 18:58, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Creating user CSS pages[edit]

I would like to know how to create user CSS pages. Ameerthewolf (talk to me 19:47, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User not found[edit]

When i log on I see this:

Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name. In general, this page should be created and edited by User:Jack Massing. If in doubt, please verify that "Jack Massing" exists.

I exist, and I am attempting to publish an article about myself. Please direct to a solution. I am confused. Jack Massing (talk) 21:53, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In short, don't. See WP:AUTOBIO. If you are noteworthy enough for a Wikipedia article, someone will make one about you eventually. Bruto (talk) 22:04, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Your user page is at User:Jack Massing (also accessible by clicking on the red link in your signature). Simply go there and edit the page. However, please note that user pages are to describe relavent information about yourself to other editors to help with collaborative editing. It is not some sort of social media where you can announce to the world how important you believe you are. See WP:USER for guidance. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 22:08, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Martin - OK, I was mistaken. I was misinformed about making this article. Thanks for the input. I however never have and never will believe that I am important. Jack Massing (talk) 22:50, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Notable" as we define it is not the same as important. We have articles here about mass murderers, about swindlers, about saints and sewers and comic book characters. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:17, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
