Error when using both cross and red in a sports bracket[edit]

Hello 🙂

I'm currently attempting to make some sports brackets, but I've noticed that whenever I use both a path with a red line and the cross function, even in very simple examples, the red line never displays properly. Is there any way to fix this? Jq-22 (talk) 10:43, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jq-22: Post a link to a saved attempt and say how you would like it to be different. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:40, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The red line that starts at the Major Semi Final box, I would like it to continue to the top Preliminary Final box.

@Jq-22: The code uses Module:Build bracket. I'm not familiar with the module but it appears that use of cross causes two parallel vertical lines instead of one, and the caller cannot get different colors in them. I'm pinging the author Pbrks. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:35, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jq-22: I will work on getting that fixed. Likely won't be for a couple of days. – Pbrks (t • c) 22:19, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Page blanking[edit]

Hi there. I would like to ask whether it’s ok if someone blanks a page and replace it with a redirect with reasons such as notability issues? For example, [1](−10,418 bytes, not merging as far as I know) and maybe more.

As I read from WP:PAGEBLANKING: “Page blanking means editing a page and removing its content to leave it completely blank, or without any substantial content. Under normal circumstances, Wikipedia articles should not be blanked. If you think an article has no useful content, then either fix it, or else leave it in its present state and propose it for deletion.”

Thanks. --Dustfreeworld (talk) 14:06, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dustfreeworld There is a separate policy on redirects, which includes WP:BLANKANDREDIRECT, which says "Removing all content in a problematic article and replacing it with a redirect is common practice, known as blank-and-redirect. If other editors disagree with this blanking, its contents can be recovered from page history, as the article has not been deleted. If editors cannot agree, the content issues should be discussed at the relevant talk page, and other methods of dispute resolution should be used, such as restoring the article and nominating the article for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion." The redirection of Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Monterey County, California seems reasonable and was explained in an edit summary "Not stand alone article worthy. WP:BRANCH, and it was unsourced". If you disagree, the best thing to do is talk to the editor who redirected the article.
The two policies link to each other, but the link to blank and redirect is not obvious as it is in the see also section. TSventon (talk) 14:52, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:CAPTIONS[edit]

In the case of semicolon, as in the case of "Banquet given in Paris in 1378 by Charles V of France (center, blue) for Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor (left) and his son Wenceslaus, King of the Romans. Each diner has two knives, a salt cellar, a napkin, bread and a plate; by Jean Fouquet, 1455–60", should the full stop be inserted after "1455–60"? JackkBrown (talk) 18:10, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JackkBrown: It would help if you gave a link to whatever it is you are asking about; I am assuming it is an image in the article about Medieval cuisine, an illustration from Grandes Chroniques de France. The caption should not use colours as part of the description (MOS:ACCESSIBILITY), and might also include the painting's title and artist. Perhaps: Banquet given in Paris in 1378 by Charles V of France (second from right) for Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor (left) and his son Wenceslaus, King of the Romans. Each diner has two knives, a salt cellar, a napkin, bread and a plate. (Banquet de Charles V le_Sage, by Jean Fouquet, around 1455–60)., including a full stop at the end as mandated by MOS:CAPTION.
