Help with infobox on Karun[edit]

This article shows two maps on the infobox (both created by me) and I am trying to get rid of the one on top, which is older and has inaccuracies. However, the older file (Karunrivermapfinal.jpg) is somehow not actually linked in the infobox, or anywhere else in the article, and I cannot figure out how to delete it. I thought it could be a cache issue, so I force purged the page and also tried using a different browser but the problem persists. Is anyone else seeing this? Thank you for your help. Shannon [ Talk ] 02:25, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Shannon1: The image is being taken from Wikidata, a database that Wikipedia uses to present certain information in infoboxes, among other things. This is the relevant Wikidata entry, where you can find the "image" property.
The solution here is to set the "image" parameter rather than "map" in the infobox in order to override what comes from Wikidata. I've done this and now only the newer image appears. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 03:45, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I had no idea what was causing that, I'd never seen it happen this way before. Shannon [ Talk ] 06:57, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ref number 19 is all wrong. Please amend if you are able. Thank you !175.38.42.62 (talk) 06:07, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This appears to have been completed. Tollens (talk) 09:04, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio revdel declined[edit]

Hello, the copyvio revdel notice on Cheese Shop sketch was declined for the reason that there were too many intermediary edits between the copyright infringing material being placed and it being removed. I understand that we'd lose like 70% of the history if we accepted the revdel, but is there an option where the history is preserved and the copyright ingringing material is removed? —Matr1x-101 (Ping me when replying) {user page (@ commons) - talk} 11:45, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's not technically possible. Revisions are hidden or visible in their totality. I'm sure if the estate of Monty Python file charges against the WMF for hosting a partial script to their copyrighted audiovisual intellectual property in the page history, more drastic steps would be taken to expunge the material. At this point you can rest assured that you've done your due diligence. Folly Mox (talk) 16:12, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It would be technically possible for one of the two people with importupload access to reconstruct the history as if the copyright violation had never been present. In practice they won't. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:22, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright noticeboard[edit]

A bizarre thing I should obviously know one way or another, but do we actually have one? I can't find one, but. Serial 13:03, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@serial number 54129: you may be looking for wikipedia:media copyright questions. ltbdl (talk) 13:17, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ltbdl: Many thanks, I'll look in there, it looks pretty active. The annoying thing is that I already found its talk page, but with the last 50 edits going back seven years (!!!), I assumed it was moribund. It never occurred to me that the action was on the main page all along. If I had three legs, I'd kick myself. Thanks for the info! Serial 13:23, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension points[edit]

In the 1972 Carly Simon song "You're So Vain" the singer references horseracing in Saratoga Springs: "Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga, and your horse naturally won....".

What does it mean when there are four suspension points instead of three? JackkBrown (talk) 14:30, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JackkBrown: In this particular case, it's an error; the first "suspension point" should be replaced with a space. In some cases, the first point represents a full stop in the material quoted (and should be followed by a space before the three points of ellipsis). Deor (talk) 14:42, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JackkBrown: In addition to Deor's helpful comment, you might want to look at MOS:ELLIPSIS. Bazza (talk) 16:35, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Deor: so like this? "Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga, and your horse naturally won. ...". The page is Saratoga Springs, New York. JackkBrown (talk) 20:05, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JackkBrown: No, it's "Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga, and your horse naturally won ...". The full stop after the closing quotation mark ends the sentence beginning "In the 1972 Carly Simon song". Deor (talk) 22:37, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Biased Articles[edit]

How to I bring a bias in an article to other editor's attention? Or request an article be scrutinized more thoroughly? ProofCreature (talk) 14:33, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On the article's talk page, or else try to fix it yourself (but be ready with supporting citations if needed). Since you've decided to keep the article a mystery, there's not much anyone here can do to help. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 14:38, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@ProofCreature, depends. If you know a specific editor you want to alert, consider pinging them, see Help:Talk_pages#Getting_started. More generally, you can WP:APPNOTE, or be WP:BOLD. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:42, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I use the automated XfD !Voting tool, but get an error[edit]

When I try to !vote, I get an error in a pop up box that escapes before I can copy it. I cannot recall whose tool it is nor how to report problems. The problem is repeatable, and I would like to know where I can report issues, please. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:48, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially harmful links[edit]

My phone is telling me these links, added by different new users, are harmful. Can someone check please?. [1] [2] [3] Those are the only ones I can see so far. Knitsey (talk) 22:52, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't looked in great detail, but those links are not going to be good. I've deleted them and blocked a few socks adding them. -- zzuuzz (talk) 23:07, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And you got the one I missed. Thanks for checking. Knitsey (talk) 23:09, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
