Mosman Library event 2022[edit]

Monday 25 July 2022

6.30pm – 8.30pm

Before attending event[edit]

  • Create an account in Wikipedia
  • Bring your own laptop to the gallery (not iPad)

What should I work on during the edit-a-thon?[edit]

There are many different ways for you to contribute today. Wikipedia is the product of millions of individual contributions and every change that is made, no matter how small, makes a difference! However, a good way to start is to edit an existing article by adding a fact or two.

We’ve prepared a list of suggested articles and assembled some preliminary sources to get you started. Keep in mind Wikipedia’s Conflict of Interest guidelines when selecting your subject to make sure it is appropriate for you to make the edits. Once you’ve decided which task you’d like to tackle, add your username to the table.

Instructions[edit]

  • Add yourself to the event Dashboard
  • Choose an article from the list. Write your username in the last column so different people don't work on the same page during the edit-a-thon. After the edit-a-thon anyone is able to edit any page.
  • If you are a first-time editor, it may be easier for you to edit an existing page rather than create a new one.
  • If a person is living, please read and follow the guidelines in Wikipedia: Biographies of living persons (shortcut WP:BLP), for both new pages and editing existing ones.
  • If there is already a page for a person or topic, check its Talk page for any comments or suggested edits and check the Article page for any templates with suggestions for improvements.
  • Use Australian English and spelling.
  • See also the Helpful links under the list for more guidance.
