Wikipedia:Newbie council

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Newbie Council is a group of new users ("newbies") who have between 500 and 5,000 edits to their credit. The range's lower value indicates member's basic familiarity with Wikipedia's concepts and functions, and the higher value (5K) serves to validate a user's status as a new contributor.

The purpose of the newbie council is to organize new users to both help them contribute to Wikipedia, and to gain their help in contributing new ideas to Wikipedia.

The idea is inspired by a discussion at Wikipedia Weekly episode 75, that detailed different ways by which newbies could involve themselves.
