In addition to the lack of sharpness of the bird, I would like to see the entire bird, including its tail, in a featured picture. Also, this image is not currently in any articles, and both Rainbow Lorikeet and Lorikeet are already well endowed with Lorikeet images. Enuja 19:01, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From Wikipedia:Featured picture criteria, Criterion 5 states "Adds value to an article and helps readers to understand an article. An image's encyclopedic value is given priority over its artistic value." If it's not in an article then it can't add value to an article; it would therefore not meet this criteria, which automatically precludes it from becoming a FP.
