Articles in need of maintenance[edit]

  • Éric Lapointe - Peacocks everywhere. I tried to fix it up, but it just got messed up again by someone in San Diego who really loves him. - Sweet Nightmares 02:05, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Naming issues[edit]

  • CEGEPs: Should this category be named "Quebec CEGEPs" or "Quebec cegeps"? Circeus 18:57, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)
    • I would say "Quebec CEGEPs", "CEGEPs of Quebec" or "CEGEPs in Quebec"... We'd have to check similar categories to choose which one would be most "standard-like". I agree that "CEGEP" should be plural. I think it should be uppercase; this is the usual convention, from what I know, in the press (it is an acronymn afterall). I wonder if an acute accent should be upon the first "E", however. --Liberlogos 19:18, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
      • AFAIK, CEGEP has not been lexicalized in English as it has in French ("cégep"), so it should be considered an acronym. The OQLF's GDT lists the English term as "CEGEP", with no accent. --Fbriere 11:01, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
        • Why not simply Category:CEGEPs, since there is no other jurisdiction that has them? (As far as I know). Indefatigable 01:07, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
          • Very well, I'll move the articles ASAP and nominate the cats at WP:CFD
          • Done, migrated, cat in nomination for CFD
But wasn't the discussion closed with a decision to move to Saint Leonard?Shawn in Montreal 04:55, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diploma of College Studies[edit]

At Talk:Diploma of College Studies it has been proposed that the page be renamed to "Diploma of Collegial Studies." It has already been moved a couple of times, and it remains unclear which is the official English translation for the CEGEP degree. —JmaJeremyTALKCONTRIBS 06:47, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Quebec#Quiet Revolution[edit]

At Talk:Quebec discussion on whether all mention of the FLQ should be removed from the Quebec article. DoubleBlue (talk) 19:31, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All mentions not removed but re-writen to be as neutral as possible. E.g.: "terrorist group" changed for "militant group" -- Offiikart (Talk) 16:53, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Québécois[edit]

At Talk:Québécois - A number of issues centring on whether the word Québécois, used in French, may have an ethnic or linguistic rather than territorial meaning. Joeldl (talk) 05:54, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of Quebec television series imports and exports[edit]

Do we really need a list of all the television shows for which Quebec television networks have produced their own new Quebec-specific version of an earlier British, American or French series such as Deal or No Deal, Fort Boyard, Loft Story or The Office? Or should this be revised into a list of shows that have aired in Quebec as straight French dubbings of the original show, such as Les Feux de l'amour, Top Modèles or Les Simpson? No other place on the planet, FWIW, has a list on Wikipedia of the former type, but the latter does have potential value as a reference list to what the French titles of dubbed series have been. RecentChangesCamp Montreal ("RoCoCoCamp")[edit]

Montreal is hosting the first bilingual "unconference" about wikis, collaboration and community from 18-20 May, 2007. RoCoCo, or RecentChangesCamp Montreal, is attracting Wikipedians and other wiki enthusiasts from all over the world to Montreal. Montreal and Quebec Wikipedians are highly encouraged to attend; help is still needed in organizing and planning the event. More information is available (in English and French) at http://www.rocococamp.info/ . And please spread the word! --ESP 03:44, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
